Hmm, you'd think I would have noticed that by now.

What exactly is activity? Smiley

The way activity is calculated:

The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Activity is updated every 30 minutes.

Damn my ant S1 is consuming around 0.17BTC per month on electricity Sad Any way to use less power but still ROi?

That's a lot of electricity, or really expensive!  I'm using about 0.06 BTC a month.

504Ghz seems low for entry now.
If they were stacking 4 blades in S3 to get 1Th 800W and selling it for 1 B, it will be sweet cake.
I think the price will be around 0.7 after diff.adjustments. Nex Diff jump is 28.5%.
Hope bitmain will not disappoint us.

I went to BITMAIN booth today in the Inside Bitcoin Hong Kong conference. One of the bitmain's eployee (very nice, big shoutout to him) said there will be upgrade kits for s1 and s2 but will be months later. Basically, just changing pcb.

wow, bitmain making sense, again.

so refreshing in the mining scam industry.

I agree, Bitmain is the better vendor out there, but I have a feeling they just shot themselves in the foot with this S3… With difficulty being so high and going a lot higher in the near term, 500 GH's is not going to cut it. So with that said they are going to knock a lot of the little guys out early…

It was critical for Bitmain to build on the S2 and to make the 1TH's a standard entry level product .. As it stand now, the S3 is going to fit into their 1u/2u product line. The reason I say that is because, 500 GH's will NOT cut it for the long haul … At least the S2 had a fighting chance … I know why they want to ditch the S2 but they should have looked for a way AROUND their S2 shipping issues.. ship the units without PSU's, and package the whole thing as parts / kit .

I think 500 GH units are viable, because they will be mass produced and the bigger the production batches are the lower are production costs.

also, 500 GH is acceptable for both small occasional miners, and for big farms.

In most cases, the S1 will still operate at a profit for several weeks, and undervolting will add another month or two to that. No point upgrading it until the S1 boards are worthless, right?

Nice to listen that, but maybe they are waiting that upgrade kits will be worthless (If upgr. kit will be free that's ok, but maybe they will charge huge shipping costs)

ill be adding more to it. ill be able to run the s1 and s3 off that PSU
That would handle the load just fine.  That PSU has 8 PCI-e connectors, yeah?  You'll need 6 of them to drive the S1 and S3 together Smiley

Yeah 8 PCI-e. Happy Day  Grin

I read the first line and thought, "Wow!  Bitmain has released the S3, I better check out the site to get some details!" Then I saw you are talking about an S1... lol.

By the way, that's an awful lot of power to drive a single S1.  Half of that is plenty powerful enough to handle an overclocked S1.
