They pushed back their shipping date of the S2's after people ordered

what do you mean-it is still June 26, isn't it?

When I and several others ordered, the ship date was June 23rd

I see...thanks

Are there any photos or layouts of the upgrade kits for the S1/S2, is it true the S2 could be upgraded to do 2Th/s?

That's the theory right now, but nothing has been released, AFAIK, other than the drawing in the OP.

From the sounds of it, Bitmain currently has a focus on "ONE" product the S3 … The S2 thread header was changed to "Last Batch" so it sounds like they will be dropping that development . Its hard to say what Bitmain is up to, they do not have clear communication to their buyers, They pushed back their shipping date of the S2's after people ordered .. Great product but poor execution on informing their customers ..

Might be better to edit your quotes and disable the scam link - rather than just leaving it there for newbies to click on...

[edit] and maybe to stop constantly requoting the scam link might help too...

Good Idea! I just edited the posts. Now if the people that reply do the same then everyone is safe.  Smiley

I saw in a cached section of Google that the S3 was a scrypt miner? Anyone have any idea on this? It is cached at a URL that has an "s" on the end of bitmaintech(s).com so it might be someone playing games or is this another site that will be selling the Scrypt version of the miners? It looks like it's the real site since upon clicking it, it shows that the site is under maintenance right now and the bitmaintech.com is under maintenance right now as well.

I posted the URL below of the cached page.

"REMOVED DUE TO POTENTIAL BUYERS THAN DON'T READ IT'S A SCAM SITE"

Also, does anyone know if the S2's are being discontinued completely and that they are literally selling off the last batch of S2's that will ever be sold by them?

Thanks!

Be careful of that link, as that one is a scam site, not the official Bitmaintech website.  That one in the URL posted has an "S" after the "H" in Bitmaintech.

This is the real website:

https://www.bitmaintech.com/

Well at the least I hope the guys at Bitmaintech can get that site wiped off if it's not them. It shows it's coming back to Germany or something. Definitely not Go Daddy like Bitmaintech.com goes back to. I do find it strange that the site was down for maintenance at the same time bitmaintech.com 's site is today. Very strange.

well the chip needs to be underclocked a lot to be a usb device.

BTW  it is a good idea if someone was to offer a legit solo mining pool.

A U3 with 2.5 watts  used to do 6gh    marketed as a btc lottery ticket  would sell.  I would want it if there was a solo pool set up by a real pool op.

Unfortunately no pool op  with a stellar rep has offered a solo option.

Most people   do not realize that a lottery ticket on a 3 digit number that pays at 1100 or 1200 to one is not gambling  it is investing.

The same people that compare solo mining to lottery tickets don't realize the favorability of solo mining over a government 3 or 4 digit ticket.

I offer solo mining, not Bitcoin at the moment, but other SHA256 coins.

I am hoping that the S3 is the exact same form factor as the S1. With interchangeable blades even.

Yes. But S3 additionally having a housing for better cooling, An additional Fan, A modified Heat Sink, Frame also have some changes but all are compatible with S1.

Where are you getting the "modified" heatsink idea from?  Just curious as I know that the current heatsink handles 400W of dissipation just fine.

I think I read it somewhere in the bitmain's OP post will look and quote it here.

I'd assume that there might be some tweaking to the HS to get it to mount to the modified board. But maybe they are able to produce the boards to handle the exact same HS? That would be optimal if they can do it.

Same mounting solution, same controllers, same heat sync, same fans (just 2)... just stick the new chips on the board and tweak it. Not a bad plan. Especially when you are building on such a successful product.

Minimum change = maximum profit

PS will there be a U3 usb device?
