so anyway.. i was on the Blackcoin train at launch, trotted off for some other mining and trading, and am now back. the mint vs. bc thing kinda threw me at first.. and i still probably don't know the whole story.. but obvious trolls be obvious.

Seems like the bc and mint devs are all good.. seeing as they've collaborated on a fix for mintcoin? that opened my eyes.. just more fud wars for trading, it ain't the devs feuding, it's the trolls trolling. props to to the devs working together.

Unless the IRS released a new notice (edit: since the notice from a few days ago) that I don't know about, then ya gotta claim all crypto at the end of the the first year you received it as income. then whenever you cash out, you pay tax on any gains.

You don't do this with any property (what the IRS is claiming Bitcoin is), so why would crypto be any different? You don't owe the IRS money if your home value goes up, or the IRS doesn't owe you money as the value of your car drops. I'm still confused on the whole taxation of crypto, as many others. We'll probably get a more clear definition of how to do all of this soon.

Edit : But if you're paying taxes once at the end of year, and then again when you cash out - it should be about the same as just cashing out? Because then in the end if the cash out if based off a previous value of say $400 BTC, then you've only got $50 to claim on $450 BTC as opposed to just the full $450 BTC price.

Just keep GOOD records, cuz if they don't change their stand, we are so screwed its not even funny. As of yesterday, I switched to mining solely BC cuz they pay once/day and shouldn't fluctuate. easy enough to figure that out. IRS has kinks to work out, but they had to make a stand somewhere and fix it along the way. Forget the thousands of trades on exchanges without proper software and also mining deposits to try and figure things out. There's already a petition going around somewhere.
