Yeah in some cases using the bootstrap file is alot quicker and easier with the different forks and staking policies blackoin has gone through.

hi all ...
the wallet is still syncing - but doesnt seem to have ANY issues whatsoever ...
the sync takes a while - as the blockchain is huge and takes a while to download fully ...
below is the current status of the sync - which proves there is nothing wrong with the code or the operation of the wallet with regards to syncing ... the nodes - as has been stated earlier - really are not the issue here ...
so for those of you that are convinced its the nodes - then well - look below and make you own judgement ...
i have also been syncing the ethereum blockchain at the same time - and on a couple of adsl2+ links - its pretty bad download times ... so apologies for the length of time this has taken ...
block 1017849 and counting - with no issues so far ...
and the current peers ...

btw - granite is now on steak cloud for mining with the current algos they have ... sha256 - scrypt - x11 ...
what i noticed also is that ONE of their payout coins is - you guessed it - blackcoin as well ... now that blackcoinpool is closed - this has to be some good news ( how is that for a plug for grn and blk - yes grn is the coin i work on ) ...
so if you have a miner that can mine sha256 - scrypt - or x11 - then you can start mining granite or blackcoin as your coin payouts ...
granite needs a 7 infront of the payout address - where blackcoin is just the payout address ( as its addresses dont clash with any other coin they have listed on the pool ) ...

There is 4 ways to solve it. Each with their drawbacks.
Lightning network built in for core coins. Amazing idea but requires tremendous amount of coding. And not all coins have locktimes.
Green Addresses. (maybe even integrated with contracts) Great but requires a bit more trust since the exchange can collude for individual transactions which limits the amount of theft but not theft in its entirety
Microtrading. Slower but 100% trustless when using BlackHalo contracts, however it might bloat the blockchain and if popular can slow things further.
Atomic trading. Most coins dont have locktimes, still not so fast... but faster than microtrading.

i think you really need to understand WHY your system is locking on a specific block rather than just blame nodes ...
mine is still syncing - BUT - its blasted way past the block that you get stuck on ...
in fact - the blockchain is almost finished downloading here ...
you dont have to take my word for it - as you obviously dont really understand that nodes are NOT the problems you are facing ... i dont mean to sound rude - but nodes are the least of your issues ...
my wallet is here now ( at the time of writing ) ...

so far - its ALL working and working well ...
its not completed the full blockchain download - but from the looks of it - its running as a wallet should be running ...
there is something inherent that is happening on your end ( isp or system issue or firewall or something else ) that is causing your lockup ...
im NOT trying to be obnoxious - im trying to show you that you need to look further than the network ( of which hundreds are using currently - and happily staking - which is another reason it CANNOT be nodes ) ...
if this is windows you are using - which im assuming it is as most of these issues are usually seen in this os - then maybe there is an inherent issue with the windows specific wallet ... or possibly with the os itself - especially windows 10 - which is known to have huge issues running miners also ...
i dont use windows ( and wont unless i HAVE to ) - so my help has to stop here - unless there is other info you can provide of your setup and system and anything else that may be of use to decipher what it is thats causing this ...
i can only wonder right now ...

Green Addresses. (maybe even integrated with contracts) Great but requires a bit more trust since the exchange can collude for individual transactions which limits the amount of theft but not theft in its entirety
Microtrading. Slower but 100% trustless when using BlackHalo contracts, however it might bloat the blockchain and if popular can slow things further.
Atomic trading. Most coins dont have locktimes, still not so fast... but faster than microtrading.

Going low but looking at the chart I see its risen alot recently and is just retracting some of that gain. It does depend on what time period you consider most relevant. If the chart is right then most of the volume was on the rise which is very bullish for the future. But I dont know the market overall just going on wisdom showing bittrex. The biggest rises are probably related to dollar, yen and rates altering like Japan just did but thats just my take, Japan is related to China money flows a fair bit afaik
yeah i have also seen a hike in Black-coin prices on 26th Jan around , and that's made me buy it , i find it a old coin and i believe it will entertain the values.
Maybe it was a mistake of yours to buy blackcoin on 26th Jan.
The Chinese were pumping almost every altcoins. So it was just an artificial pump.. But hopefully, the value shouldn't go too low..
And Blackcoin is quite a strong altcoin so you can hope it will take some value again in the future (too bad it has been pumped & dumped at the beginning, a lot of people lost their trust in it after it happened)

I did a full sync only two or three weeks ago without issues. It took a long time but it worked fine. There have been no new versions in the meantime I believe.

im actually trying to do a compile of the codebase now - i thought i would give it a go from the rat4 git ...
fedora 23 x64 is a little precarious with compiles - so i am hoping this goes through without a hitch ... if it doesnt - then ill have to look at it another time ...
if so - ill get it running now and do a full sync ...
the issue is obviously not the nodes - but there has to be something that is causing the lockup on the same block ... though if i cant duplicate it here tonight ( will let it download the blockchain while i sleep ) - then something else is awry and needs to be located ...
its more than likely a local issue on his side ... but to make sure its not the code - a current compile / build needs to be done and a run of the resulting wallet ...
i have a little softspot for blackcoin i must admit - it was one of the coins i mined VERY heavily when blackcoinpool was still functional ...

I did a full sync only two or three weeks ago without issues. It took a long time but it worked fine. There have been no new versions in the meantime I believe.

im actually trying to do a compile of the codebase now - i thought i would give it a go from the rat4 git ...
fedora 23 x64 is a little precarious with compiles - so i am hoping this goes through without a hitch ... if it doesnt - then ill have to look at it another time ...
if so - ill get it running now and do a full sync ...
the issue is obviously not the nodes - but there has to be something that is causing the lockup on the same block ... though if i cant duplicate it here tonight ( will let it download the blockchain while i sleep ) - then something else is awry and needs to be located ...
its more than likely a local issue on his side ... but to make sure its not the code - a current compile / build needs to be done and a run of the resulting wallet ...
i have a little softspot for blackcoin i must admit - it was one of the coins i mined VERY heavily when blackcoinpool was still functional ...
now i just focus on granite - and the development of it and its ecosystem ... so ive got a lot of work yet this year

i dunno what the current development is - or even if its being developed still ...
the blackcoinpool died - so that did the interest factor for me ... i am a miner afterall ...
but stopping at the exact same place? ...
where? ... near the end? ... or right at the beginning? ... windows? ... or linux? ...
if its anywhere after the first few hundred blocks - then you will find it really has nothing to do with nodes or servers ... unless the FULL nodes are completely down AND no one else is on the network with a FULL blockchain copy - then this has to be another issue altogether ...
hdd space? ... internet link? ... gotta be something else other than node links ...

ive just checked - and the problem is NOT the nodes ...
had it been the nodes - then NONE of the wallets would sync ... as each wallet acts full node when they are open by downloading the entire blockchain ...
and has shown - and commented just above - there are MANY full nodes out there currently and much more wallets open and staking ... so this must be an internal - or local issue ...
im looking for the latest wallet - and i will sync from beginning to end ... if it gets stuck on the same block - then possibly an issue with the wallet code ... which ill look into also ...
but i think rat4 is the one who has updated the code - and looks like he has done a pretty good job ...
i may compile from his git and let you know ... though this will be either tomorrow - or a few days away ( as i am just unpacking from a move - and preparing for another big move in 5 weeks and its late night here in australia ) - so i dont think you can wait that long ...
can anyone help here - by deleting the whole blockchain ( NOT the wallet.dat or .conf files ) and starting the sync again to prove this? ...

Edit: In the link you send, I see no problems with nodes, there are ~100 nodes on the latest version, that should be enough for a proper sync.

Going low but looking at the chart I see its risen alot recently and is just retracting some of that gain. It does depend on what time period you consider most relevant. If the chart is right then most of the volume was on the rise which is very bullish for the future. But I dont know the market overall just going on wisdom showing bittrex. The biggest rises are probably related to dollar, yen and rates altering like Japan just did but thats just my take, Japan is related to China money flows a fair bit afaik
yeah i have also seen a hike in Black-coin prices on 26th Jan around , and that's made me buy it , i find it a old coin and i believe it will entertain the values.
