Hello BitGrinder!

I apologize for the delay, I finally have my home office setup. Moving is always a pain.

Thank you for the donation and helping to get the block explorer back online!

As promised, here is the source code to the desktop version of Bytecent: https://gitlab.com/Komcore/Bytecent

I can remove/update the links...etc in the wallet, but it will take a few days. Newborn baby, new apartment, and a bunch of unpacked boxes, but I will find time to do it. Also, the source is public now so anyone can make updates as well.

FYI: POB will no longer work now that the wallet is open source.

Best,
Christopher

Tally goal reached..

Would it be possible to recompile the wallet to the old POB format or maybe strip out the Advertisement modules and broken links from the current wallet?

The Bytecent Explorer is back online.

https://chainz.cryptoid.info/byc/

The host provider said new blocks won't appear until the wallet sync finishes.

Hello everyone!

Here is the source to the wallet we give to exchanges: https://gitlab.com/Komcore/Bytecent-Lite/

In a few days I will also make public the source for the wallet we distribute to the public. I just moved to a new apartment and we are still unpacking. I will upload the code from my local machine to the respository soon.

Best,
Christopher

Hello BitGrinder,

Thank you for the donation! Although we didn't reach our goal, I will make the source code public in a few days and the community will be responsible for the project moving forward. You guys can contact Chainz directly to get the blockchain hosted again.

Best,
Christopher

I dropped .068256 BTC on Tally.

only .026114 BTC to go.

Is there anything we can do to get the Chainz explorer reactivated?

New EU regulations are forcing STEX to do KYC by the end of this year. I think we need another non-KYC exchange.

I also want to withdraw my coins to wallet, but the wallet isnt working. The download link is working, but when I run the wallet it gives error. @Christopher, can you please check it?

Thank you

What Kills Crypto Projects  The most common was death by abandonment, meaning that investors have simply stopped trading the token and its volume has fallen to zero (or near zero). 63.1% of projects met this fate.
So... we need more exchange platforms Smiley

website is down, hosting for blockchain explorer expired, is all completely over?

The website is up. However, I asked if the community wanted to make Bytecent open source and only a handful of community members bothered to respond. If only a few people are interested in the future of Bytecent, there isn't much that can be done without community support.

Based on your previous posts - it looks like opensource is the only path forward unless another company shows an interest in the project.

Is there anything we (the community) can do to help or maintain the project until the (corporate or opensource) transition starts to gain momentum?

Has the opensource requester offered any suggestions or a potential road-map?

My apologies for my absence from the forum...
16 hour workdays have been hindering my ability to chime in for several months..

I completely depleted my budget (and sold all of my eth) getting BYC listed and throwing buy support in on it..
Because of that, i won't be able to contribute anything to talley until after the new year (hopefully).

Thanks for all your efforts Christopher!

Hi everyone,

What do you guys want me to do? I haven't heard any public feedback, so I would like to know how would you guys like to see the project move forward?

Best,
Christopher

Is there still rewards for downloading apps and play or use. I made couple tens of bytecents on applications. Is it still works? How about mining on CPU?

Hi,

If he wants to post his thoughts publicly I am all for it. Also, I spoke to several other community members to get their feedback as well.

As for your last question, I honestly don't know. I set the goal fairly low, but I am open to suggestions.

Best,
Christopher

Hi Christopher, longtime lurker and holder of Bytecent here. First I want to say thank you for all of your work on this project over the years. I still believe in Bytecent and think it has massive potential and fills a function that is missing on the internet at the moment.

Can you please provide a little bit more clarity on who would in the community would like to pursue open source development? Is it possible for them to identify themselves on the forum here?

Also, can you please tell us what will happen if the fundraising goal is not reached?

Thanks!

Hello everyone,

Over the past week I have consulted with several longtime community members to get their opinions on the future of Bytecent. As I explained several weeks ago, I have been in talks with another company interested in acquiring Bytecent. However, a community member contacted me asking if I would make Bytecent open source. The community member convinced me that if Bytecent is to get accepted on other exchanges, and allow other community members to push the project forward, it will need to be open source. We tried the closed source approach, and it’s clearly not working. Making Bytecent open source would end any prospective deal with the company. I discussed making Bytecent open source with them, and at first they were open to the idea, but then they changed their mind. The problem is, when I started Bytecent I had agreements with people who helped get the project started and I just can’t make it open source.

If the community can raise 0.7944 BTC, I will immediately make the source code public and handover the project to the community.
