I'm  just curious on what streaming technology they will use? It is proprietary or open-sourced? Do they have to pay royalties on other technologies that they might use in the future?
There is a "Begin Technology Patent Process" on their roadmap, but I don't know which technology its.

they will probably license some technologies and develop others. a mix between the two.

What kind of technologies could this be? I mean we are talking about streaming, more then a new file format or something like that is not coming into my mind. Or do they want to make some devices?
i don't think i have ever heard that there is any proprietary device they are going to use along with their platform

I dont think there will be much new technology. The current technology is pretty much fully developed.
Would be interesting to know which formats will be available. Even 4k/8k? All the way down to 480p for mobile devices? What inbetween?

I would also like to know where that country is most of 3rd world country have a very slow internet connection, streaming movies will sometime took longer waiting than streaming.

The biggest problem might be that they don't always have a steady connection, so once it's loaded the connection might be cut for several minutes/hours

Soon Elon Musk will launch its satellites and provide free Internet on the whole planet. At least I read such news about his plans. Smiley

Well, a product cannot rely on Elon Musk's mood about a sending a satellite and providing free internet to the masses.

The problem is not about his mood. If he says he will make this internet thing happen, than he will make it happen. The questions is when and that will not be this or next year for sure. For this they need to bring up a lot of satellites and SpaceX is still not in the situation to launch rockets weekly. Do not expect this to happen soon.

What I am trying to convey is that you cannot and should not rely on any other entity for your own product to work.

I am curious about it too. If they use an open source one, it will be awesome since it will decrease the operation cost.

Yes, but they need a good job if they use open source because if they make a sloppy job, people can exploit it easily. They seem like pros so far and i believe they will do a good job about this too.

I haven’t heard any details of the upcoming patent technologies. Perhaps it will be for the use of a token to fund movies and its associated return-on-investment

I don't think you need tech for streaming just use a normal format to stream online and only fix the payment system to the token

Aw come on. Ever used ADSL with satellites? Exactly....you dont want to. And Mr. Musk cannot change anything on that technology. Also with the Hyperloop....there are so many costly problems that it just wont happen. Have ever break one of the Hyperloop tubes or a train crashing and you'll have a catastrophe unwitnessed before. What do you think happens when a vacuum tube collapses? Right. That musky man is overhyped and should not be compared with any ambitioned project. I dont say this because I hate him, its quite the other way but I'm baffled how people stumble upon those things and dont even think one step ahead.

And there are also good connected datacenters in africa. They dont have the potatoe connection of the average home user in there. Please think twice...

ADSL with satellites in areas where you otherwise cant't receive internet is better then no internet at all. And over time technology will also improve. That he has failers is of course true, but st least he tries to change stuff instead of just get your money. But yes, you can bitch now about the fact that not everything goes like plan with Musk and stick to all the regular development in automotive industry, solar industry, space industry and all other stuff, where progress is extra slow to milk every other thing twice Wink

Base on your question about the project, I think this is an open source because many are  interesting as far as I know while reading the other opinion of the participants. Then probably this would become known for everyone.

They are integrating crypto in payment system so they will need to code their own for cryptoflix token. Something like Bitpay or a token imbeded in the users profile account like other online crypto wallet tied to a profile. I don't know much about this  Cool

I'm  just curious on what streaming technology they will use? It is proprietary or open-sourced? Do they have to pay royalties on other technologies that they might use in the future?

It looks like they will be using a proprietary streaming tech according to the white paper:

"We intend to deliver a user-driven quality of the content so that it will be
possible to stream size-compressed films even at lower internet speeds.
This deals with the first two challenges.
We call this, Your Definition or YourDef."

"With YourDef the CryptoFlix Platform challenges the notion of the bigger
the better. We say that size indeed matters and the right size is the best
fit for everyone.
YourDef is the implementation of current streaming techniques and coding
plus individually customized size adjusted to screening device and taking
individual preferences into account. This means that YourDef will be
decided by the user and the device and will mean that one only pays for
what one receives. It seems only logic and it seems only fair yet no other
digital distribution platform has utilized this principle before.
The technique behind YourDef is a combined effort of multiple
technologies for optimizing the streaming experience both in terms of
quality and stability, which is closely linked to the data speed access and
device screen size. As an added option, the user will be able to reduce
data size further in accordance with personal preferences."

There is a "Begin Technology Patent Process" on their roadmap, but I don't know which technology its.

Who knows, it is mentioned in the whitepaper that I may be proprietary, so it could be implemented in the blockchain, but we don't know for sure until they disclose that information, so we will have to wait for a little, probably when the platform launch.

Watch out
How about piracy, copyright? And what kinds of films we will be watching haha ? I hope that not pornography

I think there will be a lot of focus on indie films and crypto educational content. Best to not add porno haha

Devs already confirmed there will be no porno of the platform and all the content will be legal, so no need to worry about copyrights.

The whitepaper doesn't mention porn or anything of the sort, so why assume it will have? about piracy, well, there is piracy in netflix for one reason or another, so here, even with the blockchain, will be difficult to avoid, but not impossible.
I can also ask, why do you assume it will have no porn? It is not a crime its simply porn. Smiley
Yes, but don't forget about the audience those under 18 years of age - even in TV there are certain requirements for broadcasts at night, and only erotic content.
Of course I dont forget children. But there could be a verification also for this, Iam sure.

Chris already confirmed it that there will no pornographic material on the platform. Just check his AMA interview with Andreas.

There are other projects for porn!

The faster your internet speed and more data you have the higher quality you will be able to stream.

And yes, to reconfirm again. There will be NO porn/adult videos on CryptoFlix!

Also, friendly reminder that all bounty related questions need to go to Sylon please.

Dont forget to come join us in TG!!  https://t.me/CRYPTOFLIXOFFICIAL

I do not think porn / adult movies will be a problem for Cryptoflix to gain popularity.
The internet is full of porn / adult movies.

Most people using such platforms want to watch movies they've seen in the past and can not find them, or they want to see some series, TV shows, new Movies that they do not have a chance to see in the cinema or have lost their broadcast to certain TV stations.

As long as they don’t censor different ideologies, I’m okay with that
The devs should just offer some unique materials, e.g. old or rare movies in good quality, so they won't be having much competition in the segment.
Thank you for sharing the telegran link. unfortunately, on compatibility there are no investigations until the moment of the minimum requirement, and on speed, I believe that your connection speed will really be crucial for a good use
