I am still waiting for you to offer an explanation how a virus got into my GPU driver, and where the two virii came from.  Without a plausable explanation from you, you are just a troll

Well, sir, the weight of proof is on you.

Ok Litoshi. What are you saying? That you can get a virus through stratum protocol? That's impossible. Check out stratum protocol sources, they're widely available.

It is possible for a malicious computer to use a "man in the middle" attack.  With access to the pool server thru hack or logon, all connection IP addresses are discoverable.  It is possible to send a virus disguised as a getwork request from a GPU.  \

1. Getwork != stratum, 2. MITM? How possibly could you send malicious data through cgminer to be executable on the system?
Show me some proof, because what are you saying is only speculation.
Show me code from cgminer and stratum that would allow this. I know the sources of both - and it isn't possible.

I don't know how you got a virus, but it's wasn't that way.

I offered the proof, but all you offer is rampart denial without any facts to back it up.  Stratum is used by the pools because it does not require a handshake each packet, so it speeds up the work.  This lack of an authentication handshake makes stratum useful for sending information quickly and with less load on the server.  What that information is can be anything, not just a block getwork.

Maybe you can explain how a trojan virus got into my computer, which only had one connection, the pool.  No browser or email program on this computer.  Firewall and Virus protection thru Norton.  Only thing coming in and out without virus scan is the mining communications. ANd that virus attacked one of the GPUs and the driver software.  And the pool was under DDOS attack at the time, which may have been an attempt to ROOT the server.

Hey, my miner picked up a virus from the hashfever pool.  Deactivated one 290 and killed all mining.

This is worse than a DDOS attack, they are sending virii out as work to miners

That is some BS, mate. It isn't possible.
Any proof of that?

Norton scan revealed Trojan.ADH.  That was not there yesterday or any time in the past.  My miner does not have a browser or a emailo program, just Win 7 test version and CGWatcher/SGminer/CGminer/Minerd

On which file did Norton say it was? Just to let you know, most mining programs are flagged as trojans. Maybe the signatures got updated today.

My cgminer was in a fail and restart loop.  CGWatcher kept trying to start it, and it would fail.  One of the 4 GPUs was removed from the Device manager.  I scanned with norton, and found "Bitcoiner" in one file (poclbm.exe) and "Trojan.ADH" in gpu-z v0.7.6.exe.

Obviously, it is the trojan that attacked the GPU.  The GPU could have only gotten that thru a getwork from the pool.

Obviously you have no idea what are you talking about... ;-)

Quite the contrary..... Trojan.ADH is what we used to call a "Girlfriend virus"......... it lets you in so you can leave something behind that is the payload.

I ahd a similar experience months ago with a trojan I got from P2pool that attempted to steal BTC from my wallet.

Moved all the miners to meth.hardcoreminers.com, HashFever has been unstable all day.
They did good for 18 hours but time to move on.
