Hello CUT team,

Very sorry, I am still having trouble setting multiple wallets to stake coins by using the "start_mining" command.

I can run and use multiple wallets from the same machine with one daemon running. I run into an error when I ask multiple wallets to mine.
I enter command "start_mining" in the first wallet and the daemon reports the following

Code:
2019-03-01 20:12:10.651 [RPC1]  WARN    miner   src/cryptonote_basic/miner.cpp:326      Mining has started with 1 threads, good luck!
2019-03-01 20:12:10.652 [miner 0]       INFO    global  src/cryptonote_basic/miner.cpp:442      Miner thread was started [0]

after that if I attempt to ask any more wallets to mine the wallet gives this error

Code:
[wallet cutbTq]: start_mining
Error: mining has NOT been started: Already mining

any help is very greatly appreciated

Thank You

Another thing.  I tried to comment in the CUT telegram channel and it seems that that chat is 'read only'

HI devs,

I have upgraded to v2.0.0 and read the POS paper. I have a little confusion.

First, is this release, v2.0.0 Byzantine Berserker(Love that name), the version we will use going into the fork or will there be another release?
If yes, is there any way possible to run multiple wallets on one machine?

Thanks very much

Hello, thank you!  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

This is the version going into the fork. And yes, you can run multiple wallets on the same machine.

 Attention, we need your opinion.
Few day ago we as CUTcoin dev team thought about CUTcoin Staking Pool.
The idea look clear, instead of staking on your own, you’ll send your coins somewhere and somehow staking them with proportional block reward sharing.

This is a kind of webpage where you can sign in, add your wallet address where you can send CUTcoins, wait for 800 confirmations and then receive your stakes every hour or every day. There would be no hold for transactions, so you could probably withdraw coins. Such pool will gave 5% less reward. As benefits, there is no need to handle with wallets, count proper parts of amount and other staff, also we’ll take all risks, providing stable income  every hour.

But looks little bit centralised  I think in this case Pool will accept not more than 10% of total supply to provide decentralisation.
This idea looks good for staкers with 1000 coins.
Let discuss it at Telegram chat  Shocked @cutcointalk

Hello, if you have any questions about current stage of our project

  • Currently aprx 11 000 blocks mined
  • Per one block ~ 360 CUT coins reward
  • 720 blocks per day
  • Total pre-mine 15 000 000 CUT coins
In the result we find next :
(15 000 000 - 11 000* 360 ) / (720*360) = 42.5 days left

TESTNET launch PoS consensus Byzantine Berserker

/ News pack from CUTcoin Dev team

TESTNET launch PoS consensus Byzantine Berserker (Linux) https://github.com/cutcoin/cutcoin/releases/tag/v2.0.,0

With great pleasure we 're happy to announce this launch for PoS TESTNET.

One of the biggest motivators we see for our users is that they can benefit from access to total privacy and anonymity for digital assets. With stable predictable income it'll become a trend of the quantitative easing era of crypto-currencies. For predictable income, we examined and offer the phenomenon of PoS coins. We started our coin as PoW consensus ( with switching on PoS lately), so, it's time for us to move on and fulfil the promise.

After few successful tests at dev side, CUTcoin team would like to share public official TESTNET for PoS consensus. At TESTNET it's possible to run and check main PoS realization features.

Also, at block height 52000 we will stop mining PoW and declare this block height as the last for it. Be in all that was the main goal for this project to run PoS with total anonymity of all transactions. Community members, please, keep it in mind and prepare for PoS.

You're welcome to test it and tell us about all possible issues ( if it's really possible to find it, heh).

Which features you can test?

  • PoS staking;
  • Coins transactions;
  • Wallet creating.

Also, check our PoS guideline: https://www.reddit.com/user/CUTcoin/comments/aumb8b/cutcoins_proof_of_stake_implementation/

Hello, oh intereting topic to discuss.
Basically, our coin is based on Cryptonight\cryptonote. So it means, that main issues with bitcoin weakness are not about us. I'll try to write review asap. thank you!

Hello,
POS vulnerability

A group of researchers has identified some vulnerabilities in cryptocurrencies based on the Proof-of-Stake principle, especially these vulnerabilities are typical for coins based on PoSv3 (Proof-of-Stake version 3). The fact is that PoSv3 does not provide complete data validation before using resources (disk and RAM). This leads to the fact that an attacker, even without possessing powerful resources, can provoke a node failure by filling its disk and RAM with fake data.
The researchers concluded that all cryptocurrencies based on the UTXO model are vulnerable to attacks called “Fake Stake”.

Vulnerability 1
It was found that Qtum, Particl, Navcoin, HTMLcoin and Emercoin cryptocurrency demonstrated a fairly simple form of this vulnerability - they don’t check the cryptocurrency transaction at all before fixing the block in RAM or disk.
These five cryptocurrencies apply a function in which there is a distribution of blocks and division into blocks and headers. The node requests the block after the header has received an acknowledgment. And given that the node can not independently verify the title - it stores it in the memory structure.
As a result, any attacker can fill the RAM of the node, even has no stake.
The second type of this attack can be performed on the same basis, but it is aimed at the disk (not RAM). Presumably, an attack directed to the disk will be more harmful to the victim if the RAM is full, then you can simply reload the node. But if the disk is full, more serious intervention will be required.

Vulnerability 2
The working group noticed that the first vulnerability was possible using the “header first” feature and the PoSv3 principle. But the attack does not work on earlier versions (for example, Peercoin), because before checking the blocks on the disk, preliminary checks are carried out: checking the output to the main circuit and checking the compliance of the PoS kernel hash.
But in later versions there may be some problems.
First, the verification guarantees that the coin only exists, but does NOT guarantee that it is not spent.
Secondly, even if you check the block on the divergence of the main chain, the transaction of the recipient of the coin is checked by TxDB for the main chain itself.
To bypass the main circuit output check, you can use a pin that is not yet verified by the node, but has already been spent. To bypass the verification of the PoS kernel hash, you need to extract a valid block that passes the goal of complexity, which in turn would require a large number of stakes. However, as it turns out, incomplete checking can be abused to generate an arbitrary number of visible stakes.

So, resuming all we can sure you, that we made researches for this issues and in our PoS code there would be no such issues. I'll post our PoS later after tests done.

❗️ Updating
Important news.
⛏ According to the last sudden hashrate changes in one famous crypto blockchain we would like to mention.
✨ CUT coin is improved re-written Cryptonight, with 100% ASIC resistance.

Why CUTcoin algo is better for mining in the last few days?
Why did the team choose cryptonight as a based for anonymity aspect?

CUTcoin Fork

On December 24th, 2018 we decided to launch in public our project, announcing the emergence of an anonymous cryptocurrency.
We forked from Monero CryptoNight, and rewrite and improve algo. In a few days big changed are coming, let me introduce them. As we announced before CUT coin firstly is PoS coin. Soon after 15 000 000 CUT coins will be mined with PoW we will run PoS. Before it'll happen let us make last-days-call for CUTcoin mining.
BTW check Block Explorer https://blocks.cutcoin.org/

Features:
  • CryptoNote algorithm improved with ASIC's 100% resistance ( you know it's actual remark last days);
  • concealed address ("invisible addresses");
  • untraceable transactions (Ring confidential transaction) ;
  • later PoS consensus will run.
Inspired by Monero's experience and priority ideas our team released it's coin based on proven technology (based on the CryptoNight algorithm) but with its unique feature the PoS consensus. The updates in Monero made in October were aimed at large-scale improvements to the protocol, correcting errors, increasing security, as well as maintaining ASIC resistance.
Major code changes include:

Re-written unique hash search algo.
- Asic's resistance
- Changed difficulty
- Created full infrastructure for coin mining.
