 [Weekly Update 8/31](https://constellationlabs.io/blog/index.php/constellation-update-product-engineering-news-media-mentions-techcrunch/0

Dear Constellation Community,

Our teams have been hard at work this week, and we’re all very excited for our  sponsored panel and workshop at TechCrunch Disrupt SF 2018 next week. Read on for more about what's been going on...

Product Update

This week we found additional end user experience that required enhancements. This is in preparation for our community to earn points and convert those points into DAG.  This week’s enhancements include MetaMask, Orion Portal, and Social account experience.

- Added front end validation to the transaction approval process which lets transactions run more smoothly and reduces risks that a user inadvertently stakes more than DAG than intended.

- We added the ability to link Medium accounts to your Orion profile, which will let you participate in bounty rewards related to marketing.

- Updated transaction processing screens so that they auto-refresh to show transaction updates.

- Fixed bugs that arose after Metamask released updates.

- Small changes to copy and UI.

Engineering Update

- New updates are on dev branch (https://github.com/Constellation-Labs/constellation/tree/dev).  Merged V1 batch downloader fixes. Finalized new edge schema for all chain data.

- New flow uses a schema similar to GraphX but with batch signatures and hashes at raw edge level. Edges at a higher level are polymorphic with 3 type parameters, left vertex, right vertex, and optional edge data. Our basic primitive is that of an Observation Edge which tracks 2 ordered vertex hashes and an edge data hash. This is a requirement for signatures, the actual data is populated after resolving in a polymorphic Edge class which is encapsulated in each specific usage. Example being a transaction which is an Edge between 2 addresses with data corresponding to the amount. Observation edges are captured by Signed Observation.

- Edges which hold witness signature data of an arbitrary number of participants. Checkpoint edges capture sequences of hashes, and validation edges capture collections of checkpoints.

- Genesis flow has been updated to incorporate new schema. We’re adding a REST transport layer for more generic node peer communications and simplifying and unifying the network code.

- Worked on finalizing resolver mechanics which require a notifier DAG for issuing processing updates to new data which has dependencies on other potentially unresolved data.

- Fixed bug in address formatting. More refactoring around Futures handling to optimize code.

- Working on on unifying and simplifying the networking code.

Media Mentions
- COO Ben discusses Constellation's distributed ledger and consensus model with Markets Media (https://www.marketsmedia.com/constellation-labs-eyes-distributed-ledger-3-0/).

- VP of Engineering, Ryle, weighs in on whether or not blockchains can ever move beyond economic models with Finder.com.au, Australia’s premier crypto and financial outlet (https://www.finder.com.au/constellation-can-blockchains-ever-move-beyond-economic-models?utm_content=buffera73c0&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer).

This information will be superseded by a formal audit from our accountants that will take place over the next 8–12 weeks and made public once completed. Any discrepancies will be corrected in a follow-up PDF report.

We will follow this blog post up with a token release schedule graph which will show the release of tokens from locked wallets over the next 10 years including validator rewards.

What are the 9 different foundations and what is their purpose? Will that also be released after the formal audit?

We'd like to take a moment to answer questions prior to our first Airdrop:

https://constellationlabs.io/blog/index.php/airdropupdate/

Dear Constellation Community,

Prior to our 1st AirDrop we wanted to clarify some recurring questions from the community.

Please be aware –  A number of AirDrop scams and fake google doc forms have also been circulating.  Report any unofficial/scam DAG AirDrops in our telegram channel.

When does the AirDrop Start?

Successful registrants for the first AirDrop will receive an email invite to start the KYC process on July 7th. The first round is limited to the first 2000 people who complete KYC.  If successful, you will receive confirmation prior to tokens being distributed on July 24th.

Why am I receiving my tokens in the 24th of July and not earlier?

We need to ensure that our lock-up contract is fully audited.  The intervening weeks before token distribution will make sure the process is safe and secure.  Future AirDrops will not have a shorter period of time between KYC and AirDrop distribution.

If I registered for the AirDrop am I guaranteed to receive tokens?

No, our AirDrop was heavily oversubscribed therefore not every registrant will be accepted. If you do not complete the KYC registration you will be unsuccessful and exempt from further AirDrops.

What happens if my KYC is pending?

The team will be manually checking your credentials.  You will still be in line for the AirDrop if KYC is manually approved.

How many AirDrops will I be eligible for?

Just one.  If selected you will be placed in 1 of 6 AirDrops this year.  Refer to the schedule here for timing.

How many tokens will I receive?

Depending on which tier you fall into you will receive:

Community membership: 250 $DAG
Developer membership: 1000 $DAG
I applied for the AirDrop via the Earn.com promotion. When and how will I receive my tokens?

Earn.com users will receive tokens through the same KYC process as regular entrants for the second AirDrop on August 14th

I was an early member of the Telegram channel. Will I receive DAG via the AirDrop?

Yes, as promised the first 3000 telegram members with automatically get placed in the September AirDrop.  We have captured your emails.

Will Tokens be locked up?

Yes, Tokens will be subjected to a 6 month lock up which will in-turn give you access/membership to the Orion portal across community or developer tiers. After 6 months the token will be distributed to your ETH wallet provided.

Any further questions jump into our TG channel.

Happy 4th of July,

Constellation Team

CEO Brendan has provided a detailed breakdown of the token sale:

https://constellationlabs.io/blog/index.php/constellation-token-distribution-internal-audit-july-2018/

Hi Constellation Community,

In the interest of transparency we’re providing a break down of the internal structure of each round of token sale in the Constellation SAFT and private sales that occured in both January 2018 and June 2018 respectively.

Please review this document in conjunction with our formal token model which can be downloaded here:
https://cdn2.hubspot.net/hubfs/4221910/Constellation-Token-Model-1.pdf

These figures are currently being formally audited by our accountants in San Francisco and Cayman. These will be updated in around 8 weeks time if there are any changes and formally published during August as a PDF report.

These figures represent all tokens that were sold to the public in the previously mentioned tranches of tokens sales, they do not include earlier seed rounds where tokens are locked for 2 years with 6 month cliffs and remain locked.

As can be seen the discounts ranged from 15% up to 50% for a very small allocation of tokens that went to partner applications being built on Constellation. The bulk of tokens were sold with a 25% discount in the January SAFT sale.

Ethereum lock in rates:

January 2018: $900 USD

June 2018: $561.20 USD

The total raised was slightly above the hard cap of $33.7M and totaled $35,260,238.41 and was paid by a majority of Ethereum, although some payments were received in BTC and USD. The breakdown of which will be released with a the full accountancy audit.

Please click here to review the information in a public Google Sheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WKcl6z3APqP-VT7uBIKB7NtWI2pUaJBbBBrnV5e7lZU/edit#gid=2036548479

Happy Monday!

Kind regards,

Brendan Playford

$DAG is now trading.

https://constellationlabs.io/blog/index.php/constellation-weekly-kucoin-listing-distribution-audit-engineering-update/

Hello Constellation Community,

Big news this week.  DAG listed on Kucoin! Also, Wyatt, Ryle and the engineering team overview their progress and Brendan provides the latest token audit.  If you have any further questions make sure to join our facebook AMA later today, July 3rd at 1 pm here:
https://www.facebook.com/Conste11ation/videos/837252366471464/

DAG Lists on KuCoin

We’re excited to announce that DAG is now trading on KuCoin (https://www.kucoin.com/#/). It has been two weeks since our initial token distribution and we’d like to thank everyone for the support so far, particularly our community members and partners in South East Asia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan and South Korea.  We’re excited to be part of the KuCoin family and we could not have done it without your support. The momentum has been relentless with a number of listings on global exchanges over the past week. Our exchange presence will continue through July as we roll out our testnet and further features on Orion.

Headquartered in Hong Kong, KuCoin has a global presence which offers a safe, secure and easy-to-use mobile and desktop exchange service.  They’re leading the way in customer support, user interface and trading tools, and we’ll be growing our network and presence alongside them. If you’re not already a member jump in and start trading (https://www.kucoin.com/#/trade.pro/DAG-BTC).

Token Distribution Audit

Yesterday Brendan provided a detailed breakdown of the token sale. It overviews the internal structure of each round of token sale in the Constellation SAFT and private sales that occured in both January 2018 and June 2018 respectively.

Ryle VP of Engineering ENG Update

We’ve begun performance testing the experimental alpha release on the kubernetes cluster. Focusing on tests with between 3 and 10 nodes right to verify basic functionality and optimize machine selection and our data storage layer and LevelDB access. We found and began patching several bugs related to chain buffer memory and node synchronization edge cases. Nodes are all synchronizing properly on the longest chain (the bundle with the highest cumulative score,) but there was a desynchronization issue in validation set updates during chain switches. We’re running tests on the order of a few hours and applying patches repeatedly to collect data and verify integrity with parity checks on the chain. Bundles are demonstrating a full DAG data structure, and the parent hashes correspond to our main chain which acts as a snapshot mechanism for the graph.

For now, we’re using a relatively simple DAG with signatures of node ids embedded, this determines reputations and validator rewards, and applies transaction updates on main chain additions for simplicity. Eventually, the inner bundle DAG will become much larger as we scale the cluster upwards, and we’ll begin adding more combiner types. We’ve upgraded the consensus module to be more abstract (allowing many consensus operations to happen in parallel on different sections of the graph.) We Began defining schemas for batch signature combiner operations, inner checkpoint operations for reducing transaction redundancy, preparations for address data locality functions, address metadata state embeddings and refactored some of our JSON exports for easier use.

We’ve also setup CORS for upcoming migration to new UI and fixed some dashboard cluster display bugs.  We started adding API authentication for locking down nodes and began optimizing UDP serialization layer and adding more security fixes. We moved more metadata storage into LevelDB and refactored schema to reflect updates and finally… Added more endpoints for serving bundle data / recent transaction information to UI.

Until next week.

Sincerely,

The Constellation team.
