dtc2017 do you mind if I copy some of your posts to a Apertus discussion thread I am setting up on datacoin testnet?
I'm Starting a #rDatacoin thread. Apertus.io users will only need search for #rDatacoin on the datacoin testnet to build and read the thread.

please consider posting to the thread yourself just type #rDatacoin somewhere in your message and verify that the
#Keywords option is enabled in the options panel before etching and your message will be included in the thread.

Also: disabling the filter option in this same panel would let you build your examples without using a signature but be careful not to turn on real time monitoring with filtering disabled or building a transaction from an unknown trusted source as it will not be filtered.

Thanks for your energy. We are excited to see people experimenting with decentralized code release and execution.

PS: I've done more research on the access denied issue you are receiving.. this may be a limitation of the .net web control we have wrapped into Apertus.  It has some security and JavaScript limitations. We hope to overcome this hurdle as part of our next development cycle which begins oct 23.

Not a problem that is quite a neat idea, thanks for supporting Datacoin on Apertus it adds so much value to this project and is a cinch to use.
I encourage other members on this forum to try it out if you have not already done so.  Also special thanks to Atomsea for helping us out with
a new block explorer - mucho apreciado

Hi Team!

More Mining Pools.

MarcusDE's dedication to Datacoin cannot be denied considering he's kept a mining pool going for years despite Datacoin usage doldrums that killed off everyone else.... A massive ongoing thank you to him.

That being said, it's key we get more.

I think I need not give a cypherpunk blockchain 101 decentralization lesson to make my point . . .

We all know.

Hope some can take up the noble cause!

Storing data in network on whole planet where no force can get us all to destroy that data is simply freedom!
In world where all try to tell you what you can and what you can't do.
I'm happy I can help with that :-)

Datacoin - How to Etch an IBM PCx86 simulator to the Blockchain Pt 2 (Applications)

Windows Tutorial

Continuing from the previous guide your simulator should be up and running, it's now time to add some software using the links feature
included with Apertus. Links allow you to use previously etched content stored in the Apertus root index.
The following tutorial will demonstrate how to add a copy of VisiCalc, a trailblazing spreadsheet program
released for the Apple II in the late 1970's. More information on VisiCalc is available below.
...

Holy crap! Amazing work dtc2017!!!
To say I'm exxcited by this is a huge understatement.
We love that so many see what can be done with a properly running decentralized cypherpunk blockchain in conjunction with the right tools.
It's extremely gratifying with extra joyness Cheesy

That said -- we want to help the Datacoin eco-system:

We at HugPuddle are willing pay for another blockchain explorer (send me the BTC address for CryptoID payment, if you cats want to roll with them).

Also, we will pay a bounty to anyone that gets a second Datacoin mining pool going.

In addition, let us know how else we can be of service to aid in making the Datacoin eco-system stronger Smiley

Decentralize all the Things!

Found a nifty cryptocurrency search engine while idling in ##altcoins and right now it doesn't look like they've heard of Datacoin.

to me
You're right, and we've just added DTC (Datacoin) to the database.

Thank you for the information -- we're always happy to receive
information about currencies that we've missed so that we can make
sure that they're included, and we very much appreciate that you've
taken the time to share this information with us.

We feel that including more currencies in the Currency Root database
is beneficial to the entire cryptographic currency industry, which is
why we're glad you've provided us with this information.  At this
piont the Currency Root web site is still new, but we do have plans
to add individual pages for every currency in the near future that
provides more information than what you currently see listed.  If you
would like, I'd be happy to let you know once the separate page for
DTC is functional (all currency pages will be ready at that time).

You don't need to use command line parameters. The config file is enought.

Thankyou for all your assistance today.
All working, and FIRST block finally found.

1. Create a new folder called ibmapps and add the following files from your ibmjs directory

  index.html
  PCDOSS100.json
  visicalc.json
  components.css
  components.xsl
  example.xml

2. In your ibmapps folder, open example1.xml in notepad, scroll across and add in the following before line

This line adds the floppy disk driver component and software VisiCalc

3. You may have noticed that we didn't copy accross a few of the files from the ibmjs folder, we will be using previously eteched
copies which will help us reduce the overall publishing cost.
Soon you be able to work out those savings in VisiCalc Wink

4. Go to your main Apertus directory and open the root folder. Unless you have etched multiple times you should have only one folder
listed if not open each folder until you find the content from the previous tutorial. Click on the folder containing your files and
highlight the long string, select copy. This is the transactoinid that you will be inserting into your new files to create the link.

5. Edit example1.xml in notepad, scroll across until you find an entry for ibm-basic.1.00.json, add / then the transactionid
i.e
6bf7c945623b1571571369769285dd350832703b880fa6978cdfd08db77398d8/ibm-basic-1.00.json

Repeat for
ibm.mda-cga.json
1981-04-24.json

Edit index.html, scroll across until you find an entry for pcx86.js again add / then the transactionid

Save both files.

6. Launch your Datacoin wallet and wait for it to fully sync then open Apertus.

7. You should already have a profile setup from the previous tutorial. Select your settings then
click attach and browse to your ibmapps folder. Select all files using ctrl + a and hit ok.
Providing you have enough DTC in your wallet to complete the transaction, click etch to publish your simulation to
the blockchain.

8. On startup it will display the dos command line, to run VisiCalc simply enter B:vc (no /)

CPU high performance version of datacoin wallet with some last patches from primecoin and QT.
Windows binaries https://yadi.sk/d/CU8Jjcef3Nnv6C
Sources https://yadi.sk/d/kysBlTWL3Nnv7q

For solo mining type in debug console: setgenerate true -1
For mining stats type: getmininginfo

Datacoin wallet with embedded server for local GPU solo mining with xpmclient.
Windows binaries https://yadi.sk/d/6YbILBAN3NnvRn
Sources https://yadi.sk/d/2ju1_54n3NnvUF
Xpmclient https://yadi.sk/d/gFMn5wDw3Nnven

For starting server type in debug console: setgenerate true
Download xpmclient and configure it for localhost or 127.0.0.1.
You can use server and client at different devices. You need to set "host=YOUR_IP_ADDRESS" in datacoin.conf for it.

It sends 1% of mined datacoins for donation. It can be changed in command line.

These sources include last patches from primecoin and QT 5. These also include patches for working with last versions of some libraries (f.e. czmq lib).

They are successfully compiled in Windows. But I believe they can be compiled (with some minor patches of makefile) on other systems.

Getdata works without problems.

Ok, so dll's are great and allow wallet to run...

Great

but now..

getting stuck at "connecting to frontend: 127.0.0.1:222

So for completeness, i am using http://graymines.net/miners/datacoin/dtcclient_v10.1beta.zip

You need to use port=6666. It is by default.

I have uploaded the xpmclient with a working sample config on https://yadi.sk/d/gFMn5wDw3Nnven

I have updated all the archives and moved them there also.

I downloaded and tried this, but it is missing several dlls.
I searched my pc, and found multiple different versions of the missing dlls, and so far have not found a combination which work.
Could you please give me the correct dlls?
LIBEAY32.dll
SSLEAY32.dll
zlib1.dll

Thanks

Sorry for that. I haven't tested these binaries on a new clean computer.

These dlls is general. In my case these are in the mingw distributive.

You can get dlls with following link:

If you need more dlls I'll upload it.

Please, report on successful execution. Then I'll include these dlls in the wallet archives.

Good news!
i have confirmed the issue with Apertus not being able to build remote variable data transactions is because gettransaction was implemented instead of getrawtransaction.
i am fixing this in code now.  Hugpuddle should be releasing an Apertus.io fix that allows full variable storage and remote retrieval within a week.

you can still test this feature as it does currently rebuild anything you etch to your local wallet using variable storage.  go ahead and try DTC-V out. it is 100X faster and is also cheaper than using generic DTC storage.  both methods are setup by default in Apertus.io

we recommend that you store the file using variable DTC-V storage then link to the stored file using standard DTC keywords, signatures and profiles . The variable storage method doesn't offer the same tracking abilities as standard storage method and because of this it will be easy to misplace your etchings if you ever lose the transaction id.

PS: once this is resolved you will find a little something special just waiting to be discovered in variable storage at this transaction id:
