However, as you pointed out, these devices consume power like I eat potato chips. They will also eat PSUs if you drive the cards to hard. I have been lucky because all of my GPUs have survived two years of constant mining at full power.

An impressive farm but I chose 280x for best hash/power usage ... 290x rocks if u can afford to operate it LOL, glad u were able to use hetpas to generate kernel for it

DiamondTahiti.elf should work on all Tahiti cards except my 7950 which is harware locked and I can not change mem clock (lower=better because it does not use card mem, added heat = lower OC potential)

Which brings me to another point, if groestl can be done register only on GPU this is a problem, simple ASIC register only, nscrypt tried to fight this with high mem requirement but ...!
Not sure where to go with this but DMD is not ASIC resistant Sad

All the cutesy Doge lingo didn't help the coin increase or maintain its value. Vertcoin was going to be the next big thing because its algorythm was ASIC proof.

I have been there so many times already and I have heard the same thing so many times already.

The main importance is the total number of coins and the reward in the block.
In the Diamond is practically perfect combination of these properties.
In general can be compared with LTC 80 million coins and Diamonds which will only be 4.3 million. About clown doge I generally not speak.
This is a silly joke has become a plaything in the hands of speculators.
After the merger of network blocks doge and LTC relation to litecoin many investors has changed dramatically.

I have fans running at 100% to cool it and its running about 3 degrees C hotter but still only 71 degrees C. I am not overclocking the card at the moment. The 280x seems to deliver less performance for the additional power used when overclocked - power consumption exceeds performance improvement.

I can try this on the R9 290 but those already run ridiculously hot and I am hesitant. I fried one PSU/PCI-e cable already pushing them too hard. I am running out of power supplies and frankly, given the value of BTC right now, I don't want to increase my investment right now.

I have modded my cards with VBE7 and additionally redone heatsink paste with "arctic silver". With my ambient temp gpu at 65-69C

I get crashes above 71C ...
Keep in mind the "golden age" of DMD is soon to end, mine as many as u can even at a loss

You mean when the reward goes down to .1 the value of a DMD isn't going up 100%? Roll Eyes

Following up on my prior comments, I tried this with some of my R9 290s and again I got about a 4-5 mh/s boost from each card and again, I am not overclocking - although the R9 290s are better powerwise when overclocked than the 280x. I also looked at power consumption and it looks like each card consumes about 3-4 watts for the additional 4 mh/s which I think is very positive.

In summary my R9 280x when from about 15.5 mh/s to about 21.7 mh/s with an increase in temp of about 3 degrees C
My R9 290s when from about 20 mh/s to about 25 mh/s with negligible temp increase or fan speed increase using about 3 watts additional power.

So in my case I am getting better than 20% performance improvement for about a 1% increase in power consumption. Nice work!
