2% fee is normal, no mining program would be lost, no profit, I do not understand why it's still being solved, work has to pay

Yeah checking that https://zcash.flypool.org/miners/t1NEpmfunewy9z5TogCvAhCuS3J8VWXoJNv/payouts

Making 20 Zcash a day = 13000$, 390000$ a month.
Yeah I m quite sure 2% is REALLY NEEDED, it cant be less cuz ...getting 13k a day is not nuff.... lel

...rly...

I would love to make 13 K a day and do nothing ...... that said i can hear the BS Come backs that don't mean shit.

I for one am happy with a 2% fee.  My hashrates are better than 5% compared to ewbf so I'm ahead.  Much rather keep the fee at 2% and have the developer continue to work on and finetune the software than allow people to pay nothing.  I hope the developer makes squillions and why shouldn't he?

If people aren't happy with the fee, and he's already made it clear he aint gonna change it, then use some other software.  Why waste time bitching about it?

it's called principle/morals but i don't expect any one to understand that kind of stuff these day ...

Writing it here again, then....

You would definitely get more ppl using your miner than EWBF's miner, if you reduced the fee to 1% or at least made it configurable with standard fee of 2%, but with configurable range of 1% up. I am not saying you should develop for free, but the fee has to be justified. Who wants to give you 2%, fine, who does not, he can then configure it to 1%, lets say.
Makes sense right ?

Otherwise, the Sol/s gain you get, using your miner over EWBF's miner + your fee of 2%(while EWBF's fee is configurable and can even be 0% with --fee 0) is just not justified. We gain sol/s, but we lose 2%(sometimes even more as reported elsewhere) on fees.
Also the gain using top hardware(1080ti) is very minimal(sometimes null and then you have to count the 2% fee) over EWBF's miner. Maybe you could improve that as well to attract more ppl with top hardware.

So, u want more ppl to use your miner? You want me to use it? Then think about what I just suggested.  Wink

Write your own miner, reduce fee to 1%, and then watch how others will say, 1% is too much, make it 0,5%, you will do that and people will say, disable the dev fee completely, since 0,5% is too much. It is not him who is greedy, it is you actually you and all other people, that ask for reducing fee.

Get 1% more for you means almost nothing, if you are not mining on 20+ 1080 Ti, but for him, it would meant a lot. Try do some math...

So all of you, stop whining, you won't get rich anyway even with 2% more. And stop being smartasses, to tell the developer what he should do with his miner,... if you really think you know better, make your own, or hire someone who will make one for you.

This one is overall fastest and most stable, still actively developed, I guess it is ok to be "more expensive"  Wink
This is exactly the point and you are completely wrong.
For him it shouldnt really matter as his miner would be used and is used by thousands if not millions of ppl. he is doing thousands of $$$$ every day and thats what he needs ? no. It was called "greed" and it is that. Simple as that.
Leaving 2% is fine, but it also should be adjustable. If someone wants to give 2% then fine, if not adjust it then to whatever. Even with --fee 0 he would be stil lgetting thousands of $$$ a day cuz not everyone disables/fiddles with fee and cuz of some ppl just want to pay him. So no, he wouldnt "banktrupt". But 2 % is just too much to justify the extra gain(if any) over EWBF's miner. Like I said, with my setup of 1080ti's its not making any noticable perfomance difference + i know theres 2% fee, which is sometimes even higher(use google to see)! Its just not worth using it. Maybe if I had 1070/ti's then maybe .....

If more ppl pushed on him he would make it variable. No pushing = no changes...

This is  why i some times don't give up . it's greed if anyone was to look back a few few pages they would see were the DEV said basically he was more worried about his fee ... then those that lost time and money back when some thing went wrong . an then backed down and tried to say different when other miner dev wouldn't go that far or even comment and fix it fast '..

I don't get them either I'm paying this guy for a service and I'm told to shut up pretty much lol . I never once said work for free, i do indeed agree he needs some form of motivation to keep it going but don't Ignore the hand that feeds..while all the other software miner give you the option of turning stuff off  that i use and if i come across another miner that does the same thing i will push the issue,I know I'll leave the 2 % fee on, i do when i use Clay more miners. its the principle/morals to me. an I'm sorry they fail to see the point ....

I dont see the issue. On average my gtx 1060 rigs went from 1530 to 1620 sol/s. 1620 - 2% =1587 > 1530. Devs need love too!

Well first of all, I would expect the owner to respond. Other ppl should stay quiet. You are not his bodyguard or anything so ...stay small, use whatever program u want to use and thats it. No need to come here and talk for him while it should be him talking for himself. period.

Other than that, yes Im using EWBF miner with 0.5% fee. he abandoned the project, but still he created the program so I will give him 0.5%. If he kept updating he would get more. Simple.

But giving out 2%(and Im saying it again, IT IS MORE THAN 2%, check google and search for proofs), thats just no. its not justified. If the program was 10% better than EWBF's that I would say "its not reasonable to use EWBF anymore"....

Im out, until the owner speaks. Pce...

He already responded few times, believe or not, I read all 100+ pages of this thread... he clearly stated he won't change dev fee.

I'm out too...

For me greed is to take some other man work, and use it for my own profit only... without realizing, if there would be no profit for author, he might never created the software in first place, and therefore, we would not have any profit at all. Even if he would set 3%, I would use it, because for me not only speed has value, but also reliability, usability. And I don't care if he makes 100$ per day or 10000$ per day, because what I get from my hash rate is 98% for me, and that is 49x mores than what he will get from my hash rate.

Don't be envious and don't be greedy. I will never believe in your goodness, that you just saying this, because you want to help him get more money, because more people will use this miner, if they can reduce dev fee... bla bla bla...

Just use EWBF if you want to disable dev fee, because you are envious. Rest of use, will use overall better miner and we will gladly pay for that. And yes, there is already lots of us, if you look at what you saying is his address at Flypool. Also you can see, that his hash rate constantly rising.

BTW... I wonder how would car industry looked like, if we could set the price of our new car... I guess, there would not be any cars at all, you want that? I don't, I like my car even when it comes with high cost Wink

Also thinking about Linux, it is also free, anyway, majority of ordinary users (not miners) use Windows anyway, because it is... better Tongue (I guess I should not said this here Cheesy ).

Anyway I don't have anything against you saying to him: "Please consider lower the dev fee..." but saying, he is greedy, he SHOULD (he should not do anything, he doesnt work for you, more or less you work for him), or do it because of this and that (beeing smartass)... that is what I just don't like.

Justice, justice?! There is no right for mining, and there is no obligation to make software free or for reasonable price. It is his miner, he can set whatever dev fee he wants. And your justice, that should rather be called freedom, is that you don't have to use that miner if you do not agree with the "price".

The dev is free to set whatever fee level he wants and we are just as equally free to not use the miner, or to say we feel the fee is too high relative to performance, reliability, etc. Really, what's got your panties all in a wad?

I can't seem to find it - is there an intensity setting for this miner?

I have a machine mining with three 1080s that I need to use for some work several hours each day.
With EWBF I would turn the intensity down a bit and the machine was fully functional... then I'd turn it back up when done working.

With this miner, the machine is unusable so I have to shut it off completely for the hours I'm working.

Is there an adjustment I'm not finding?

tia.

There is no intensity settings, but it was already requested few times. Anyway, I'm working 8 hours per day on computer mining on 1060 6GB with DSTM, three full hd monitors connected and it is usable except the Microsoft Excel 2016. But for that one, you can turn off hardware acceleration and then it works fine. Of course, if you work in Photoshop or 3D Max, this might be problem.

Is there a way to get the device name from API? I can see the device name while accessing the miner with a web browser, but it is not included if I perform a API call.
What API?
What exports this API function?

I'm trying to access the API of the dstm miner and parse the information about hashrates etc.
My question is: is it possible to get the device name of each individual GPU from the dstm API?
As I said, the device name is shown in the web interface of the miner, but when performing a API request I only get the GPU ID and not the name.

I'll add pci-bus information and the device name in the next release.

You are awesome! Thank You!
