Just remember though whenever they announce it will be ready, it will probably get delayed again. People are getting tired of looking the tx fees and also at the delays in getting 2.0 launched. They could not even manage the testnet launch properly and have seriously damaged their own reputation and the confidence that people had in their project. Ethereum might be going down the gutter soon and be replaced with better alternatives unless the developers wake up and realise the damage to their brand their delays are causing.

For example, what alternative blockchains can replace ETH in the near future? As history shows, such "alternatives" have only one promise of thousandth (10K, 100K) tps, low fees or their absence in the network itself, convenient creation of tokens and sidechains, and as a result, the same years of development and the price in the region of 100-1000 satosh.

Looking at the facts ETH should rise... But it keeps going down.... Doesn't make sense, or I am missing something huge

Actually I don't believe in rising price, I guess it's take some time to check is it really working without any bugs. The price will rise in a few weeks, as it did with Bitcoin after it halved.
This scenario is possible for ETH 2.0. Remember that neither after Byzantium, nor after Constantinople, there was growth based only on the network update itself. And this is only if the 2.0 update does not compromise itself due to the presence of critical vulnerabilities in it.

Long term investment always are safer and bring better margin of profit. It takes the end of bear market into consideration. If YFI can get the price more than $20 000, ETH can go back to $1500. Matter of time, only.
From what I understand Ethereum will stay relevant but ETH should provide a faster and cheaper transactions first and better rewards staking. Hopefully, ETH 2 will delivers as promised otherwise most of those Dapps will look for alternatives. I wish Ethereum 2.0 launch take care of our concern.
AFAIK, those things are part of the 2.0. We have to wait until everything has launched. I'm expecting a lot and will solve the issues that many are saying but I don't want to expect a lot from it. But I'm wishing that the result will be delivered even if not as promised but hopefully, it's near to that.

How exactly will ETH manage throughput of the entire token ecosystem?
This is a difficult question, in short, shards will be created that will be responsible for this. The more shards there are, the more operations per second will be.The news about the launch of the deposit contract came out , but 5 days have already passed.
If the deposit contract is launched next week, then Ethereum 2.0 should launch in mid-December 2020.
