ConsenSys developer Ben Edgington has published an update that predicts the ETH 2.0 beacon chain genesis will happen within the next six to eight weeks.

https://pro-blockchain.com/en/ethereum-2-0-deposit-contract-to-launch-this-week-consensys-dev

However, the PegaSys engineering group developer emphasized his prediction “is not an official statement.” Grin Grin Grin

They did the same official but not official thingy during Vitalik interview about the testnet release a couple of months back. Looks like guys at ethereum are not sure too about when they will release it. They are basically hiding behind those non-official statements.

Hope it will be launched in next month at last. Seems BTC going to hit its new ATH. And after this alts will follow to BTC too. It would be great time to release 2.0 and we will see new bullrun  Roll Eyes

There's still a 50-50 chance that they will launch 2.0 in November. It's better not to expect anything lol.

If BTC breaks its ATH and during that period, if they release 2.0 (any phase), then it will give ETH great momentum to break the $600 mark.

All good things to those who wait
Things are starting to look ridiculous, as always with Vitalik plans.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/jcuigo/eli10_what_is_happening_with_medalla/

One quote from the post:
What is happening with the Medalla eth2 testnet currently, Oct 17th 2020? Here's an ELI5. (Not exactly 5. Maybe 10. You get the idea.)

A bunch of validators turned off (maybe zinken, maybe bored, who knows)
We entered non-finality. This means we don't have enough validators online to agree to what the state of the network is. We need 2/3rds.
Some sync bugs reared their heads, in Prysm and Nimbus. We lost more validators to the bugs, not everyone has updated since
-----
And one quote from the comments:
That is definitely the reason. It really needs 8GB minimum, 16GB recommended, 32GB for mainnet in my opinion. I've seen some big CPU spikes the last few days so that depends on the CPU I suppose but it should be OK to good.

----

So, if for the mainnet to be a validator it is needed 32 Eth and a PC with 32 GB RAM and a new CPU, how many validators could participate and how are they supposed to ensure the security of coins worh of billions? I am starting to think that some devs already know that the final switch to Eth 2.0  will be delayed indefinitely...  Undecided

P.S. For the first time in many months Eth price is plumetting, while Bitcoin is rocketing to $12K. I guess traders also know what is going on right now.

So it mean we can expect for further until they reach the required goal to move forward. Anyway the community is used to with this kind of stuff and but we hope one day this will happen and it will become relaity.

It gets somewhat tedious now reading about how the developers are basically saying "hmmm not yet". I wonder what sort of impact this is having on investor confidence.

Nothing positive or good news seems to coming out of the Ethereum developer team at all. When will theyy realise it is better for them to take things slowly and release the testnet after ALL bugs have been ironed out instead of them playing roulette with investors?

Without testing, it will be impossible to say whether the codes has any bugs or not. This Zinken testnet which is coming on 12 OCT could help us figure out whether ETH 2.0 will be delayed or be on time.

So tomorrow their testnet will go live? Who will have accets to their testnet? And how many approx time they need for mainnet after testnet? I wish to see ETH 2.0 till end this year at last. This fees on Uniswap became crazy nowdays.
Has the test network been launched or not?

It seems to me that all the same, the Ethereum 2.0 system will not be launched so easily, they will still be postponed, I think.
You're worth being patient. Moreover, just a couple of days ago, they announced the successful launch of Zinkin testnet. Moreover, according to the Ethereum Foundation, the Zinkin testnet performed better than Spadina. Errors in Zinkin's network possible, but will be eliminated.

Go to the official blog at this link: https://blog.ethereum.org/ and look in the upper right corner of the screen, we see the text and we are transferred to the site from the bounty, it was not difficult, right?)

Yes, the Zinken testnet is successfully launched. If I am correct, then I think they launched it on Oct 20 without any delays. You can check the article below to known more Smiley

fuck it, ETH 3.0 next week.....they'll just skip right over 2.0

Sadly bro but, only Justin can do that lol for now we are stuck with 2.0
In the long run, I don't think ETH will have much trouble with the gas fees because it will have some serious competition from Binance's smart chain, EGLD, etc.

But keep this in mind ETH pioneer in smart contracts field and still have more than 99% of the dapps on its blockchain. I hope this time upcoming Testnet will bring positive sentiment for this ecosystem. I would like to support this platform and will wait for this release.

Things are not as bad as that Piston but there is a chance the way this has been managed recently that there could be further delays because. It seems there is a lot of positivity towards the upgrade but every time they make announcements then renege it affects the morale of those following ETH, it is having an adverse effect on the Ethereum community and further delays will not help the situation.

Piston, I know you are not positive about this but let us give it some time more before we talking about the demise of ETH  Wink
