Somebody here can give a more explanation about ENS. Does its service free for every user? I mean, if the effort to get.It will always be through the auction of the domain name?
I was feeling curious about how the auction works, it looks like everyone must pay more to get his domain.eth

It is not to be used, it is only for hype.

You are really boring with your trolling. Go to etc thread and pump yourself and other fools how great etc is and leave this one, you said xxxxxxxx times how you feel about eth, now you are like a broken record repeating yourself...

i think pay is wrong term.. anyone who win the bid... his/her ether is locked in smartcontract for 1 years... and will be released back to him/her. For those who lost in the bid , he/she will get back his ether -0.5%fee (which will be burned) ..

  • In a promising experiment in an affluent swath of the borough, dozens of solar-panel arrays spread across rowhouse rooftops are wired into a growing network. Called the Brooklyn Microgrid, the project is signing up residents and businesses to a virtual trading platform that will allow solar-energy producers to sell excess-electricity credits from their systems to buyers in the group, who may live as close as next door.
  • Brooklyn Microgrid is trying to build a neighbor-to-neighbor green energy market using the Ethereum blockchain.

TrueBit Whitepaper Released  Wink
https://medium.com/@chriseth/truebit-whitepaper-released-e308e11d005#.cc5r2flsd

  • TrueBit has quietly gone through a major upgrade, and Jason Teutsch and I are pleased to finally announce the official TrueBit 1.0 protocol, available on our project webpage
  • Practically speaking, smart contracts with TrueBit can execute C++ code without running up against Ethereum’s gas limit. TrueBit itself is simply a smart contract, which means that we don’t need to introduce a hard fork, a soft fork, or disrupt legacy smart contracts to achieve full computing functionality.

Come fill out a bracket and play March Madness on Ethereum!  Wink
https://github.com/alex-miller-0/ethereum-march-madness

  • Welcome to March, my favorite month! I love this month because here in America we host the best sports tournament on the planet - the NCAA Basketball Tournament (a.k.a. March Madness).
  • 64 college basketball teams from all across America go head-to-head in a single-elimination fight to the top. Well, technically there are 68 teams, but I'll get into that later.
  • The week before the tournament starts, it is customary here in America to fill out brackets with your predictions of who will win each game. It's a lot of picks (59 games) and the probability of guessing every game correctly is 1 in 2.4 trillion. Within a bracket pool (usually comprised of your friends and family), the person who picks the most winners is crowned the champion. There are many strategies ranging from picking your favorite teams to always picking the highest seed (usually a bad idea in big pools) to consulting a probability distribution. Which is the best strategy? Who knows.

Register Your Ethereum Names Now  Wink
http://registrar.ens.domains/

  • This app allows you to register a .eth domain name for use in ethereum decentralized applications (dapps) and compatible blockchain browsers.
  • Names are not purchased. Each name registered requires depositing some amount of ether directly into its respective registrar contract for a minimum duration of one year, thus no central entity receives the funds. All ether deposited to contract deeds are then temporarily locked until the end of the auction.

Vitalik Buterin Discusses The New Viper Smart Contract Programming Language  Wink
https://steemit.com/etc/@cseberino/ethereum-s-vitalik-buterin-discusses-the-new-viper-smart-contract-programming-language

  • I recently discussed the Viper smart contract programming language with Ethereum's Vitalik Buterin. Viper should be exciting news for Python and Serpent programmers as it is similar to those languages. Viper promises more features and more protections than Serpent.
  • One of many noteworthy examples is support for Decimal objects which are helpful for financial applications. Furthermore, Viper is implemented in Python 3. The same people that will want to use Viper can more easily help develop and maintain it.

What is the safest way to store ETH coins?

There is no safe way to store ETHF coins. Ethereum Foundation Central Bank can fork ETHF blockchain and confiscate your coins if they decide they don't like you. You'd better stay with your ETHC coins.

Nope. No single authority can do this.  It takes network majority to do such things.
Only ETC has ever supported a single group stealing coins: they supported the DAO hacker and let them confiscate all coins in the DAO.

Don't listen to trolls. They're butthurt cuz they're stuck holding a shit ton of near-worthless ETC. If there was no safe way, it wouldn't have 2nd highest market cap  Cheesy  Cool

"Safest" way is debatable.  Cold storage is a preferred method, but so is a hardware wallet.  Hardware wallets are still being built specifically for Ethereum, but Ledger already supports Eth with some of their multicurrency hardware wallets:

has anyone noticed the project currently being developed combining eth & zcash? https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/moved-to-own-forums-please-delete-1802128

eth is unstoppable.. every 6 months new highs, i think its a "buy a shit load and forget avout it" kind of coin, then come back in 5 years to a retirement fund.

Actually we don't need to wait for 5 years to get retirement fund, ETH has been double in one month already, ETH will be as high as 20% or higher of bitcoin's market cap.

Vega Fund: Ethereum Venture Capital Crowdfunding Platform

Vega is an Ethereum-based crowdfunding and venture capital platform, designed to be as decentralized and secure as possible. Though the project is still under development, it could grow into one of the biggest decentralized autonomous organizations (DAO) on Ethereum – or any other blockchain for that matter. That’s because of its similarities to The DAO (referring to the specific 2016-founded DAO that had a fatal flaw in its code), and how The DAO, before its collapse, took in more crowdfunding than any other project in history (outside of political campaigns).Read more

Blockchains could make gaming more fair  Wink
http://venturebeat.com/2017/03/12/blockchains-could-make-gaming-more-fair/

  • GameCredits is exploring this concept with its namesake platform based on the Ethereum blockchain. Gamers acquire and use GAME tokens to conduct a wide range of activities, including purchasing games and in-game content.
  • eSports is another field where intermediaries are causing difficulties. FirstBlood, an eSports platform built on the Ethereum blockchain, decentralizes match setup and winnings distribution by taking away the task from centralized team administrations and handing it down to automated smart contracts.
  • Another company, strategy game maker Beyond the Void, is taking the idea further by porting the entire administration of its in-game asset economy onto the Ethereum blockchain.

How to do Confirming / Supply Chain Finance / Reverse Factoring / Receivables Finance with Blockchains, payment channels and cryptocurrency credits  Wink
https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/blockchains-set-explode-finance-bruno-ricardo-ferreira

  • Payment channels are being explored in the Ethereum blockchain, by a team responsible for the Raiden Network. Because, when payment channels shall be programmable, they will better defined as state channels.
  • With the possibilities of smart contracts (ie. self-enforceability of contracts mediating digital(ized) property transactions in a blockchain, may be accepted as legal contracts), a certain range of agents could enter in to a contract where they agree to accept the newly, created from scratch, digital credit that was generated as double accounting entry, resulting from a "real world" the trade between A and B, if / when their account shall be imbalanced.

A Note On Charity Through Marginal Price Discrimination  Wink
http://vitalik.ca/jekyll/general/2017/03/11/a_note_on_charity.html

  • The following is an interesting idea that I had two years ago that I personally believe has promise and could be easily implemented in the context of a blockchain ecosystem, though if desired it could certainly also be implemented with more traditional technologies (blockchains would help get the scheme network effects by putting the core logic on a more neutral platform).

Why Ethereum is great for payments  Wink
https://medium.com/@edmundedgar/why-ethereum-is-great-for-payments-ee80c5cb912a#.6u3axfg4j

  • Vitalik @reddit comment:
On the privacy side, right now there's fairly little privacy at the Ethereum base layer, or for that matter the wallet layer; transactions are public, and it's easy to link actions to each other if they involve the same address. From a protocol design standpoint this is okay; the whole point of Ethereum is that it's a general-purpose computing platform, where functionality comes from things on top of the platform and not the platform itself. However, from a user experience standpoint, those things-on-top need to actually be built.

Some areas where we can improve include:

    1. Adding mixers, where people can send coins from one address to another address that they own without revealing the link. This can be done (already is being done to some extent) with ringsigs, and can also be done much more powerfully with zk-SNARKs.
    2. Also making such privacy-preserving payment methods a default payment type.
    3. Adding a feature into wallets where they automatically generate a new address to interact with each application, and send some ether to it through a mixer to break the link. This is also a good security feature, as it makes it harder for one malicious dapp to steal your assets inside another dapp.
    4. Coming up with high-level languages that make it easy for contracts to have a notion of "encrypted state" that users can only access and modify through zk-SNARKs. This can be used to implement a generalized privacy-preserving payment system along with other use cases.
