I feel like people have forgotten that theft is a crime and if you really want cryptocurrencies to replace fiat currencies then you will need a way of recouping stolen funds.
IHO this is the first true test of digital currency being able to replace fiat currencies and is the whole reason I mine and support various currencies to begin with.
you forget in real world there is a reason why judges and cops and invstigations are separated.
the fork did selfjustic.
they should have put there time and effort on finding out who it was but they put there mind on saving investment.
'
thanks for proving my point the devs are the judges in this case.  In the case of government they're not separate from the government they are part of the government.
i dotn think i made your point
what i mean is ethereum is a code and the devs and miners changed it not to put the attacker in jail no they erased the crime to save investment.
theft is a crime for which you get in jail not a crime for which you stay free becouse devs erased it.
so again if they had let the executive and judges deal with the thief he might be already in jail. it would have been posible to freeze the dao all dao
and report have a investigtion

It's a piece of software. They mitigated a technical issue.

There's no need to make this into 1984.

Make Bitcoin glow with ENIAC
if this guy does this will he lose money? if he has his miners run on etc to destroy it ?
who pays him the loss ?

If he sees etc as an attack on his investment I guess he sees it as a business expense.

I imagine when btc does finally resolve block size problem (through a hard fork) it will fly.
There is no btc blocksize problem.
Everything is the way it should be.
Full btc blocks is a good indicator that tx fees are low and should go higher.

I think it is good for free choice and freedom.
Ethereum forkers don't care about free choice and freedom. The only thing they care about is getting back money they buried in the DAO.

If you have 51% of the Ethrereum Classic hashing power, you can attack it and get the 3.6 million eth into your own pocket.

I told you there would be trolling from BTC people. Why do you engage with them?

Bitcoin has its own problems. That's why it won't friggin fly.

becoin supported the "Gimp Bitcoin" movement and now he "needs" Ethereum to be a failure.

If not, he might have backed the wrong team.

He will only be happy when both chains are dead.
Look BTC is slow to be used as actually currency, and I only mine that coin because I am not wait forever to pay fore something.
I mine ETH, EXP, AMS and BTC at this point and the cryptocurrency world needs a real transactional currency and for me the jury is still out on what that will be but if I had to guess it will be ETH.

Any reasonable, reasoning person should see that there is something shady going on at Poloniex.
Whatever your thinking don't be so stupid not to see it.
I have already withdrawn all my coins from there.
There is something going on internally there, I'm not gonna get caught up in it. You can see it a mile away.

Poloniex is a business and maybe they are just taking advantage of a few suckers willing to trade in a defunct currency.  Maybe they think they can make some money off of this anti-fork crowd.

My post fork MIST windows wallet (8.1) sync's and loads showing my wallet details but is unusable
except for quitting. If I leave it long enough the wallet screen goes blank. Any thoughts?

but it wont ever happen unless those supporting network (the miners) agree

Nah it's cool man, these days it's OK to fork it all the way back and make those block sizes go away.
not sure what you mean....wouldn't btc hf just impact block size going forward...
