I feel like people have forgotten that theft is a crime and if you really want cryptocurrencies to replace fiat currencies then you will need a way of recouping stolen funds.
IHO this is the first true test of digital currency being able to replace fiat currencies and is the whole reason I mine and support various currencies to begin with.

network seem pretty secure to me and most others
More of the same... hypocrisy!

- Network seems pretty secure!
- Then why would you attack it?
- To try to make it insecure!
- Why would you try to make it insecure?
- Because if it is insecure it deserves to be attacked...

you maybe misunderstand as my englishing may be not so good.
cant understand how this is hypocrisy...this is how things work.
in every system, there will be those that will try and game the system to their own benefit....its human nature and economic reality.
eth network is secure due to amount of hashing power dedicated to it...as the sheer cost of trying to implement 51% attack would be too costly.
ethc on the other hand may not have the hashing power to keep it secure from 51% attack...so there are those that will take advantage

I think it is good for free choice and freedom.
Ethereum forkers don't care about free choice and freedom. The only thing they care about is getting back money they buried in the DAO.

What motives has Poloniex for trading the old chain. They could be be in an alliance with the dao hacker. This could go very badly for Poloniex. They are providing a method of exchanging stolen ether.

Are you that desperate to look for a logical answer? Well my friend who is stupid enough to make an alliance with the DAO hacker? That will be bad for business. I think Poloniex is against the execution and implementation process of the hard fork although they could not be against the hard fork. So now they are giving the people free choice.

ETHC already seems to have been forked to f**k...

So, i guess you should contact @ bitpop to get your coins back, or on to the right chain.

I'm still asking vitalik to close this thread since this coin no longer exists or is ETC

The advent of Ethereum classic in Poloniex and there are rumors soon on Bitfinex, Vitalik cannot be reached right now. This is becoming a threat to Ethereum fork so he must be really busy and very stressed. He has more important things to do. I think he will lose a lot of weight after all the problems he faced.

It's interesting to see how all this was called 'consensus' but I don't think that there was a real consensus on the hard-fork, it's also interesting to see how also poloniex added ethereum classic and especially the pair ETH:ETC .

This is maybe Poloniex's way of speaking their mind that they are against the execution and process of the hard fork. Now they are giving the people a way to make a real choice instead of the fake voting that happened. I think it is good for free choice and freedom.

if the network is not secure enough to withstand attack it doesn't deserve to be.
The 'attacker' showed eth network is not secure. Instead of recognizing that eth network doesn't deserve to be you tried to kill the messenger? Isn't that called hypocrisy when your words are exactly opposite of what you do?
you are wrong...attacker showed programing language was flawed, not that network was insecure.
network seem pretty secure to me and most others
again you fail to realize that those verifying transactions are the ultimate decision makers.
so what hypocracy?
if ethc is open to 51% attack then it is flawed

Too bad this is BS.

What's with these people? - and I know its just a couple using multiple aliases.

This is one of the big problems with all of these alt-currencies.  They need to be regulated like the stock markets so that idiots posting false information to affect price changes and manipulate markets can be prosecuted.

I know these clowns are just out to ruin ETH but in the end they will ruin all alt-currencies.  Every failure of a major currency or exchange is another nail in the coffin.

or the start of the 51% attack
So, you're going to attack me because I don't agree with you?
How far the lunacy of Ethereum forkers can go?
hardly lunacy...it would be lunacy not to attack
no we are attacking you because we can.....kind of like DAO attacker.
if the network is not secure enough to withstand attack it doesn't deserve to be.
you've been around crypto long enough that you should know that's how it works

This pretty much exposes your doublestandards. I think i'm not the only one disgusted by doublestandards.

In other news, "Consensus" just in:

Nevertheless.. id stay faaar away from that shit.
