Anyone else having trouble syncing? I'm running geth --rpc as usual which starts fine loading 256 blocks at a time fast (every second or so) and I'm watching the \chaindata folder adding files with current timestamps so all seems fine. Then after a few minutes the geth process stops printing new lines in the console and shows "Synchronisation failed: no peers to keep download active", but I can see \chaindata is still adding new files, but after a few minutes more it also stops. So I close geth and restart and the whole process repeats.

This used to work just fine -- even if I had a lot of catch-up to do -- I'd just let it run for a few hours and it would catch up and then increment by 1 block every few minutes to keep in sync. The same pattern has been happening for the past several days. I have 50/5 internet and a good wifi connection.

Anyone know what might be causing this?

Hi.
I have a few questions about your wallet.
I asked them here, https://forum.ethereum.org/discussion/5329/launch-the-wallet-in-a-portable-mode but it seems no one knows the answer.
Maybe then here for me give  an answer?

At some future point of time ETH will make the transition from POW to POS. (By the way, does anybody roughly know when this transition will take place?) After this transition, ETH will yield some kind of "interest". Will the ether coins that are bound in DAO tokens also yield interest?

If the Dao decides to stake then they could earn some interest.  However it's been rumored there will be a cap to the amount you can stake, I think it was 60k eth, so it wouldn't yield that much Eth as there will be pools and many individuals that will also be staking with the maximum 60k.

wallet wont stay synced anymore, cant even send eth out just sticks

Did you start watching the DAO Contract on version 0.7.2? That causes issues with freezing, transactions not working, and 'invalid date'

https://github.com/ethereum/mist/issues/525

You can fix it by reverting to 0.6.2
All I have been doing was convert bitcoin to eth thats it but cant send any back out, trying 0.6.2 now but doing same thing wont keep sync after it loads up and still locks on trying to send, now deleted chain and redownloading maybe that will help.

You can try new Mist release 0.7.3

The performance has improved.
The bugs with "invalid date" and slow syncing was fixed:

Quote
We knew there was a very proeminent crowdsale that would benefit from it, but we never expected it would be as popular as it became. As a result, at each block the wallet was doing over 10k local database reads and writes, therefore causing the interface to stop responding and sometimes lose connection to the database. This bug was behind the dreaded "invalid date" error that affected many of our users.

Also if you are watching The DAO devs recommends to stop watching it for now.

i am a late comer to the ETH game, I am afraid I have missed all the hype and possible gains... what do you guys think, are there stil profits to be made with this coin? Because that's why we are here, profits...

Stop looking at the short term profits and concentrate on long term, e.g several years. If this thing ever really takes on the world, but I mean it really gets used world wide, prices of $1,000+ per 1 ETH are easily reachable.

So no, you are not late to the party in my opinion!

DigixDAO now at 12.76 USD...

I dont undrestand this concept really, if im not mistaken each token is attached to gold therefore price of gold... so you get voliality from both sides.
sounds like disaster to me:)
