@granat: There has been a significant rise in hash around that time when your blocks were orphaned. For about a day then the majority of blocks were found by only two addresses which suggests one or two new players with literally dozens of GHs at their hands joined the party.

You can see that effect on one of the blockexplorers:

Diff jump: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/tips/#@diff
Orphan spike: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/tips/#!extraction

So in short, I think the orphans simply happened due to the quick rise in hashrate. Since diff has adapted now, I expect the orphans rate to go down again.
I had myself a few orphans at ~30hrs ago/~same time as you, but meanwhile I could pop two valid TIPS blocks around 30min ago so I assume things came back to normal.

Then again, these are just my very own observations and conclusions and could be totally wrong, we'll probably have to let it settle for another day or so to see if orphan rate returns to an acceptable level.

As testbug said/asked, always make sure you have 10+ connections to the TIPS network when mining but in this specific case I suspect somebody was just repeatedly finding blocks faster than you. We'd be interested to hear back from you if you could meanwhile solve a valid block again.

:-)

The dev team will meet the next days and get the next steps together.
Today, we updated the ANN, adding the Novaexchange  TIPS/BTC.
I think, nevaexchange is pretty new (atleast it is for me) so please trade with caution.
We have verified that this is our TIPS and not the sha256.

Yes, in the cryptocoinworld there are many scamers/thieves.
One of the most important thing, for me, is: trust
If you don't trust the dev team, how to trust the coin?
I hope you trust us five Cool

Yes, we do. How about an update?

I think psycodad has a point here.

The fact that people who want to buy TIPS from BTER can't withdraw lead them to sell it so they can recover the value they put into BTER.
That's my opinion.

So the hostile takeover guys were able to cause the price increase and it has never corrected?

The takeover ANN appeared at March 18th, when the TIPS price was at an all time high of 1300 Litoshi and more.
So I think it's more the other way around, the high price for TIPS inspired them/him to try to pull this stunt and despite all this confusion caused by this fake swap announce TIPS never dropped below 450.

Thanks yogg.
Regarding your TIPS at BTER, if you want to be on the safe side and depending on the quantity you could sell them for LTC and buy them back with that LTC in Cryptopia. When I last checked yesterday, TIPS withdrawals were still disabled at BTER and I don't really know where they will be heading with regard to this faked swap. Given Cryptopias prices are slightly lower than BTERs most of the time you might be able to do that without any loss.

From reading through the SHA-256 ANN thread I get the impression that nobody is mining the SHA256 coin anymore since they found out that no exchange runs on the new chain, not even BTER and that coins will probably never have any value.

I have quickly browsed through the SHA-256 source and to me it seems to be a completely independent from original TIPS run-of-the-mill SHA256-POW/POS Hybrid.

Thanks a lot for your explanations, psycodad.

I'm glad to learn that nothing changes. TIPS is great the way it is. Smiley

I am a bit concerned for the TIPS I hold at BTER. That would be really bad if they proceed with the swap. Sad
I found this : https://fedoracoin.site/

However the pool that is linked on this site is not responding and blockchain explorer doesn't work as well.

Has anyone downloaded the sha256 wallet to take a look at it ?

I don't understand what's going on with TIPS.
Can someone explain it shortly ?

From what I understand, there is a takeover. Allright, but what with the so called "sha256 group" ?
Does the new team plan to change the algo ?
What about BTER ? Was their coin swap arranged with the new TIPS team, or with that sha256 group ?

It's a little shady here ...

Thanks for asking.
At some point a random shady character came out of nowhere and announced a swap of TIPS and a new blockchain based on SHA-256 algo in a new ANN.
This was neither backed by the community who wants to keep TIPS what it is nor by the original dev who disappeared long ago.

At one point that shady character was obviously able to convince BTER that a swap is going to happen to the fake SHA-256 TIPS and BTER disabled TIPS withdrawal but they still operate on the real TIPS blockchain and are probably starting to realize that the swap is never going to happen.

A few of us then gathered behind teillagory to defend the original TIPS which involved also creating this new ANN so that people interested in TIPS have a starting point with all relevant information at hand.

So for the facts:
The real/original Scrypt TIPS is rock solid with 50-80 nodes and a hashrate way above 50GHs in avg.
All exchanges including BTER use this old and correct blockchain, BTER has withdrawals disabled but TIPS can be deposited and traded as always. Additionally there are Cryptopia and Alcurex available for trading TIPS.

The last post of the "swap" dev is from more than 2 weeks ago, saying
we will do the swap soon, thank you for your patient.

The alleged swap would then end on 25th April, but until today no single coin has been swapped AFAIK.
So we can probably assume the swap has been abandoned and it may be only a question of time until BTER allows withdrawals again.

That said, it should be noted that teillagory, testbug, metamorphin and also cryptoid have invested a lot of time and some money to bring back Blockexplorers and website for TIPS and created this new ANN to defend against this scammy swap plan. It is only because of their efforts that TIPS didn't get hijacked by the swap scammer.

TL;DR: Nothing changed, TIPS is what it has been since it began - mine on and enjoy  Wink

Anyone see this issue recently?

"Warning: Displayed transactions may not be correct! You may need to upgrade, or other nodes may need to upgrade."

Wallet stop synchronizing.

Which version of the fedoracoin wallet are you useing?
And for which platform? Windows, Linux or Mac?

I use v1.1.0 for both Wins and Mac, it shows the same message, and stop scyn.
