The Ubiq Network is just undergoing a blockchain mining algorithm upgrade as a result of the recently passed UIP#1 vote.  Once the new mining algorithm is up and running we will be implementing the new wallet backend with the assistance of KryptoTech Blockchain Technologies.  The Ubiq Team is actively developing and testing their new algorithm so we are standing by on news from their team.

 in relation to volumes there is truth they are really small now but at present it's too early to remind a price value on the reason that this geo service isn't in order yet. once this project has started with geomining and map collecting it would be seen its real price value

   it's interesting and worth to use and I wait for this coin to collect on a map but what concerns an investment option it is a question of luckiness. this coin is listed only on bittrex and cryptopia with volume of 1500 usd and not so many people are aware about this project but there are many famous exchanges like gate, bitfinex, bithumb, okex, binance etc. now there is a big selling wall on bittrex. don't think that there is any possibility to place geo on big famous exchanges without great financial contributions to these exchanges or to make this project desirable for these exchanges. in this case there is need in a proffesional marketing company or support of the famous crypto developers or the venture capital funds like it was with unikrn, tezos, ontology, vechain etc.
   this coin is based on the ubiq blockchain which isn't placed on many exchanges as well and not so well known or advertised as tezos, aeternity, eos etc. that's why it would be not so easy to promote this project for the whole world.
   on the other hand although this project as far as I know has only two core developers but they are passionate about their project and work constantly every day and weekends. in relation to an investment option there are two big advantages: a small number of coins and a very big opportunity that this game with this coin will become well accepted and prevalent all over the world because of its interesting idea laying inside.

GEO is an excellent coin for investments! But, it's worth waiting a little, when it still falls a little.

It has been a very busy but successful week squashing all the different bugs that came up from the new server environment. Happy to have fixed the Facebook Connect API and a few issues with dropping new $GEO on the map. This weekend we will be getting out into the field for some testing!

We were able to squash a few more bugs in the backend last night that were preventing new $GEO from being dropped on to the GeoCashing map.  Seems to now be up and running smoothly again on the new optimized server environment!

Thanks for the continued support.  Lots of these bugs have popped in after migrating to the new optimized server so likely as a result of newer versions of DB software and PHP etc.  We're still pushing forward with our developments while the Ubiq Team prepares/tests their new mining algorithm.  Very exciting times ahead for $GEO!

After some much needed rest and recuperation, we were able to find some time over the Canada Day long weekend to resolve a few issues with our $GEO Facebook Connect API.  Squashed a few more bugs!

Hey folks, definitely some cool ideas to play around with.  I'm not sure that it is required to be handled by a Geo API or smart contract.  However, the current beta interface does allow for the user who drops GEO to add in some comments, whether that be a phrase "Go Sweden!" or a link to the swedish flag etc.  I can chat with a few of the Ubiq Network devs to ask about future integration with a smart contract.

I don't know all the possibilities offered by smart contracts, so I don't know where the technical limits are, but yes there is certainly a way to point out to a file stored else where or something.
For the moment, I think this is not really a priority for the devs, but why not in the future, as we both said it'd be cool. 

The idea is good, indeed.
However, there is a problem: you won't store the picture in the blockchain (even if it's the Ubiq blockchain, it doesn't matter). So maybe a link to a centralised server or something like this?
Maybe it would be easier to give the possibility to add a little text, so this portugalian can either write "Big up to portugalian football team" (or whatever he wants) or put a link of something, for example an image (of the flag, you got it).
I don't really know the technical limitations of this but since we can't store huge amounts of data in a blockchain, I think it would be a better idea.
PS: but you're right, it could be pretty funny.

GEO is a cool project
Geo contracts are better than ETH contracts
