A bit insulting actually considering I have got notifications all along of every crowd fund announcement.

It was mentioned right here:

That is not on this site.

So basically if you guys need us to shell out cash your hand is out but if we want in on hardware to support the network we are not welcomed as first class community members?

Who is "you guys" ? And when did you ever shell out cash for them?

NOYB what and where I have shelled out cash.

Why weren't we offered the miner, is bitcointalk not considered part of the community?

See https://forum.grin.mw/t/sales-in-forum-for-ipollo-g1-mini-miner-with-exclusive-discount-and-20-donation-promise

The reasoning is that long term supporters of GRIN would have found their way to forum.grin.mw some time ago.

Untrue, I and many others do not want to make our way away from here.

Once in a while I head over there and check out the threads and I receive the update emails but received no notification we could buy these.

The only notice we got was you saying you would get one for developer testnet.

Yesterday I received my iPollo G1-mini ASIC miner [1], as did many other people. It performs 1.4 C32 graphs per second at 100W, making it about 4x as efficient as a high-end GPU. It sold for $520 in limited quantity to the Grin community.

The current Grin graph rate of just over 7000 gps is equivalent to about 5000 of these miners, giving each a 60 Grin reward twice a week...

Me too, I have been waiting for this for a very long time.
I have talked about it with a few very crypto code-smart people quite a while ago and they also seem to have high hopes for it.
Yes..... waiting desperately!!!

There are a lot of ideas about what improvements could be done some of which are listed here https://github.com/mimblewimble/grin-pm/issues/385
This doesn't mean that all these will be done, I think it's unlikely we see some of these tackled for quite some time. The order in which these will be considered is not decided. The work on PIBD (parallel IBD) will most likely continue as it has already started. I'm most excited about the aggregator service because it will introduce a way of obfuscating the transaction graph. There have already been some nice ideas presented for example this one https://forum.grin.mw/t/daily-aggregator-partial-transactions/8260

Meanwhile, I'm awaiting delivery of a Cuckatoo32 ASIC to be used for testnet mining.
What the timeframe for the ROI?

Given the difficulty of selling testnet Grin, ROI is negative:-(

Bummer, that'll change in a few months.

Congratulations on a smooth upgrade to version 5!
(technically it was not a hard fork as the old code would simply refuse to accept any block at height 1048320)

Goodbye, members of the CuckARoo family. You successfully kept out ASICs over the past 2 years.
