Hi here,

To be fully transparent, we have uncertainty related to operate a swap with Howl tokens.

Currently, we are analyzing a project and building a team. I'm proud of what we achieved.
Relating to Howl, we have identified issues. These aspects have been discussed by all the team (howl holders and news members).

1/ Howl project: After weeks of work, our vision of the project we are working on is no longer focus on a chat app. As all projects, the initial idea is different from the final product.
We have great other ideas to develop and the chat feature is no longer considered as a priority. Since the project is different, we don't think we would use Howl brand. Howl is focus on chat app.

2/ Some new devs we contacted are not comfortable to work on the project because the story behind howl is complex, as you know. Even if we are not related to old dev who disappears, use the Howl name = be part of the history.

3/ Old dev tokens: For a proper token swap, we need to exclude old dev tokens. We have identified some addresses but we can't be sure he owns others and he could find a way to take part of the swap. It's a risk to take.

4/ Legal aspects: The old devs has intellectual property for howl project : logo, design, idea,.... If our project succeeds, there is a possibility he claims something. It's a second  risk to take.

5/ The project is at early stage, no one has traded current HOWL since we said we are working on a project, as we adviced. So we are peaceful for this.

We added risks and profits and we think for the new project we think about it will be better to not use HOWL brand and not operate a swap in order to start on good bases. We want to warn you about this, even if we are not ready to communicate about our new project.

Thank you.

A lot of users volunteered time and effort into this project. The logo was designed and created by a member name, whose name I cannot remember at the moment. It was a cool logo, so if you're going to create a new project from scratch, use the old logo. The old dev does not have any rights over it. Nor the name Howl.

Did he patent all those logo, design, idea,.... ? Did  he register HOWL trademark? If not, all rekevant  fears are hard to understand. Moreover, as you said the idea will be changed. Both logo and design  are no things   for us, bound to the likes of them.

I think you are absolutely right, if nothing was legally registered/patented, point 4 has no sense ... and especially if the plan is to change name, logo, etc...

concerning the swap and possible hidden dev addresses, there are known addresses from the dev where the dev funds are located (or most of them), can't see why those couldn't be excluded and the rest considered... even if there is one or two more dev addresses, surely this won't influence the "economics" of the new token anymore that having a few large holders of the token...

Is there any new info about the new plan? The new project is going to be a completely separate one or not?

cheers
well, all that was mentioned above was the same thing I tried to explain to @articrypto but still he still held on to going for a totally new project, there are probably some other personal reasons for his decision which I understand,

And to your question. YES.... the new project has nothing to do with howl, it's a completely new project...... Sad 😔

So now no token swap and every thing will be new...so why the hell we are talking it here...i am waiting since one year that one day my howl tokens would have worth something...and now you say no there will be no token swap so no advantage for the howl token holders... Embarrassed
😁 😁 lol, I understand you are angry mate but you gotta take it easy, I understand how you feel perfectly well and what I can tell you for now is to be patient, hide your howl token somewhere and forget about them, check back later in the future to see if they've worth something, I promise you they probably will

You can wait another 10 years and HOWL will still not be worth anything LOL. Take your loss as a man and move on.

ok, thanks for your reply.
When you have the new ANN and project ready, I'll check and decide if it is solid/interesting enough for me to do anything in connection with it
In the meantime it is a shame but it seems that all hopes are truly lost for Howl... unfortunately people will need to start moving on...
cheers
well, I don't know how to express my feelings in words, but know it that I personally, am very concerned about howl Project, if I had the resources needed, I would have done something to revive this project, but sure, I will in the near future, all hopes aren't lost yet

If I knew anything about coding I would help for sure, but unfortunately that is not the case...
and unless you find a couple of devs that are not afraid of their own shadow and want to get hands on the job, we need to face that the project is lost...
thanks for all your efforts my friend
cheers
that's true mate, if I knew anything about coding, it would have been very much easier, for some one like me, finding those kind of devs you mentioned is a bit difficult but not impossible, and again, fund is very important, as most devs would hardly accept coming into a project like this without anything in hand as payment... Anyways, thanks for the kinds words mate, I really appreciate it

The salvation for this would be if a couple of devs that were about to start their own project saw this community as an advantage and find a way to include it on their project... the Howl itself is lost and as more time goes by, more competitor apps get their project on-going and less sense our own project does...
sorry to be ending like this....
cheers
to some extent, you are right about some projects coming up and making the idea behind the howl project less relevant, but try to remember that nothing at all has ever been done or released to this project, so this leaves it open to additional ideas, I personally see no bad thing in other projects coming up while this appear dead for we can use them to our advantage anytime we decide to get up 👆 and continue the race

1,2,4 and 5 are no real problems. Just give the new token a new name and don't use any of the old logos etc. Everybody will understand that.
As for 3, do you really think the old dev is lurking and waiting to take part in a swap?
Instead of a swap you could do a snapshot based distribution. Nobody will have to send you Howl but addresses containing Howl at a certain date will receive the new token. Exclude and monitor the known dev addresses and ForkDelta. If you do a new airdrop, there will be new cheaters. As you can see, most threads are infected by bots and any airdrops these days are as well.

A new airdrop is actually a quite bad idea most of the times. The amount of cheater and people that aren't caring about the project is higher than ever and you will only end up with complaining people though it was literally free money you gave to them. Snapshot might be a good idea but even a swap address shouldn't be much of an problem since you can monitor the amount and origin

so, you are announcing you'll build a new project focused on a different app and using a new token... without any swap

why are you posting this here instead of posting a new ANN?

what good would that do to current howl token holders?

why should we care about this new project?

is this just a new way of doing marketing?

sorry for the bluntness but this is getting way off the reservation...

cheers

Your questions are legit.

We write this now to explain to the community what we concluded yesterday even if the new project is not ready.

It's not a marketing stuff, after we do our homework we identified these issues and we share it now.
Since the project is different, it's possible some members will not like our new idea. We will do a new thread and discuss about it in the new.

We are now working on the allocation of the new token, nothing is decided.

There are quality people in this thread with nice motivation and involvement. We just want be transparent and respectful here, like we are between us in our team.

Thanks for your encouragement trofo.

Let us know if you have other questions related to howl. We will discuss about the new project on a new thread once we will be ready and have enough work on.

Pretty much what he/she said, if you are not going to do something for the community of Howl token than don't expect the community to follow you to a new project. If you are cutting all ties with this project that is your prerogative but you should open the new ANN in that case.

I was with Howl from the beginning and have quite a nice sum of the tokens left 300 000 or more, I am not upset about value lost since i made more swing trading it than with my initial investment. I would of course like very much to see something happen with this project but if that is not the case I will wait to see your new ANN and then probably decide it isn't worth my time. Just being honest here.

Best of luck with your project.
