I'd reply to you HYPERfuture but I used my 5 pm's an hour sooooo. I'm download the bootstrap atm though.

No problem please do we've made a new bootstrap file please let me know if this new one solves your issue.

Nope, still crashes like last time. I don't know what could be causing it.

EDIT: Am I supposed to run the wallet first, then extract the bootstrap, then put in the wallet.dat file?

EDIT AGAIN: So I restored my wallet.dat to a previous version from yesterday (losing me about 0.1 HYPER gasp!)
now it seems to be working with the bootstrap!

Just to make sure this is the correct procedure:

1. make sure no wallet is running before you delete everything,
2. delete files and directories inside  %appdata%/Hyper/ except wallet.dat (do NOT DELETE wallet.dat!)
3. place in bootstrap files
4. run new client

Yay looks like everything is good! Must have been something to do with your new wallet.dat backup. Please make sure you backup your wallet.dat regularly! I would take another backup of it right now if I was you! Just copy and paste your wallet.dat somewhere for safe keeping.

No worries about stake, you will just stake for more when you are synced back up , in PoS you won't lose like PoW Wink

I am reopening the downloads for the new wallet now!

Just made another backup, and probably will make one everyday Tongue
It's nice to see that there wasn't something wrong with the wallet, kinda curious to see what was wrong.

Also, that's true, it wont be long before I make it back, and it was only a small amount anyway!

Thanks for the help Hyperfuture and Palmdetroit! Also Palm, it starts up much faster, at about 5 - 10 secs compared to about 30 secs - a minute before!

EDIT: I got a stake yesterday, but it didn't finish verifying/whatever it does when you get a stake. Could that be the problem?

No problem glad we could help and yes Palmdetroit has done an awesome job on the wallet so far!

Yes if the stake hadn't fully confirmed, this may indeed have caused the problem. Stakes tend to fully confirm within an hour or so but yes I would recommend not having the wallet.dat staking a block halfway through when switching to new client! If anyone else is reading this wait for your wallet to confirm your stake before loading into new wallet Wink

Hey guys, don't forget we have a subreddit too! I just looked and there are a few questions with no responses, and some I definitely can't answer. I don't think we should forget about it and we should try to help those people out who don't know about this forum!

Hey, I've updated and synced with the bootstrap. It runs, but to start minting I have to unlock it, but when I do, it crashes. I didn't have this problem before.

Any help?

EDIT: It says

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Is your wallet encrypted? Do you need to unlock it to stake? There is a bug we will be fixing in the next version where it says "unlock wallet" in the bottom right even if the wallet is not locked and doesn't need to be unlocked. But clicking it shouldn't make it crash. We will look into this issue ASAP.

Close the wallet and try again and let me know if it happens again we are looking into this now.

Let me know if it happens when you try unlock the wallet in the bottom right, and also by clicking settings -> unlock wallet or just when you try unlock the wallet one of these ways.

Hmm, it says encrypt wallet in settings, although I can't click on it. I'm presuming it's not encrypted, but it's saying it is, and when I try to unlock it, it crashes.

I tried restarting, everything. I simply cannot get through.

If your wallet is unencrypted then that is probably why it is crashing as you are trying to unlock a wallet that doesn't need to be unlocked. It still shouldn't crash because of this but if you just leave the wallet on as normal you should start staking as normal. There is a bug we will be fixing in the next release where the wallet says "unlock wallet" in the bottom right even though the wallet is already unlocked so you don't need to click on anything just leave it open and it should stake! We will investigate to make sure the staking does take place as normal. Please also report back and let me know if your wallet does start staking after a while.

The new wallet is in beta but we will iron out the bugs!

Well the thing is that it was encrypted before I updated, so shouldn't it be encrypted now?

Also, in the db.log file it was filled with panics? I don't know what that means though.

EDIT: Is the config file needed to be copied over, or does it not really matter?

Oh ok sorry if it was encrypted before then it will be encrypted now. We will look into the issue and get it resolved ASAP. In the meantime older client might be best until we can get this fixed. It is best to use the new config file. Can you PM me the db.log file contents?

EDIT: please do not update your HYPER wallet yet we are still Beta testing and resolving this issue. It may not affect you but better safe than sorry and please wait until we have a fix.

Hey, I'm not sure if it will help but in debug.log it had a bunch of failed stakes or something. It would say something like failed stake then there would be an address after. It went on for ages like the db.log file. I'm not sure if that will help though.

We'll see. Just sent you a PM as if there are any files from the old HYPER wallet client in your %appdata% HYPER folder this would cause your issue.

EDIT: This issue has been solved: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.9642831 enjoy the new wallet!.

OK new wallet is out! It is a non-mandatory update but it updates the code considerably, speeds up the wallet start-up and blockchain syncing times. As the new wallet does fix numerous security issues update is recommended for all users.

Here are Palmdetroit's updates on Github: https://github.com/palmd/Hyper/commits/master The main HYPER repo on GitHub has also been updated: https://github.com/HYPERcrypto/Hyper

Palmdetroit and I are going to keep updating the wallet in future it's in good hands and we are going to be adding some really cool features over time. We will probably be releasing new versions once a month or so in future.

Major updates with this wallet:

- Updated QT version
- Much faster wallet start-up time (10 - 20 seconds)
- Checkpoints and much faster blockchain sync / download speed
- Rebuilt blockchain database for faster syncing and updating
- Fixed numerous urgent security issues
- All those useless dlls files are gone and it's an all in one, one click client

Here are the download links for Windows, Linux and source of the new wallet: https://github.com/palmd/Hyper/releases/tag/1.5.1

If you use the new wallet you need to download the blockchain again as the database has been optimized for faster syncing. But you can use the bootstrap so all in all the update process only takes about 5 minutes! Make sure you ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR WALLET.DAT BEFORE STARTING!

Instructions:

HOWTO use new 1.5.1 Hyper client (and rebuild db)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mandatory to do this for 1.5.1 Hyper client (rebuild db)
You have two options, either 1) do a full resync from scratch best but slow (can take 24 hours+) or 2)use a bootstrap fast (see below) Bootstrap ONLY works with Windows if you are building the wallet in Linux you will need to download the blockchain. No worries though it is much faster than before and should be fully synced within 24 hours!
Warning! Never! Ever! Delete wallet.dat ! Always have backups!
1)
A. Back up wallet.dat or entire directory: (default) always do this when updating!
     Win c:/users/username/appdata/roaming/Hyper/
     Unix : /home/user/.Hyper
     You can find easily in windows by searching for %appdata% and then opening Hyper folder
B. Delete all files/folders in your /Hyper/ directory above EXCEPT wallet.dat and any .conf files. DO NOT DELETE WALLET.DAT!
B. When you are sure you backed up then delete everything above just run new client and wait for 24 hours to sync!
2)
A. Download Bootstrap
B. Back up wallet.dat or entire directory: (default) always do this when updating!
     Win c:/users/username/appdata/roaming/Hyper/
     Unix : /home/user/.Hyper
     You can find easily in windows by searching for %appdata% and then opening Hyper folder
C. Delete all files/folders in your /Hyper/ directory above EXCEPT wallet.dat and any .conf files. DO NOT DELETE WALLET.DAT!
D. Unzip files in .zip to Hyper directory (make sure .dat files are in /Hyper/
E. Run client and it should start syncing at the bootstrap block number, if you did something wrong it will start at block 0, so please try again or ask in forum!
If you have feature requests / bug fixes for next HYPER wallet version please PM me or post in the thread so we can start a development roadmap for the wallet! There are more updates to be done to the codebase which is the current priority but we are also looking to hear from the community what YOU want to see in the HYPER wallet.
