I know there's a team of sorts already which is great, but I wonder if anyone else has Commit access on the GitHub? Does anyone else have access to update the official website?
If not... how important actually is that? From what I've seen there are coins the dev has given up on that have continued to thrive despite the lack of any genuine software updates, because the community has continued to support it. That's more what I see happening with HYPER but it would be good to know exactly what the situation is.
For the record - I do think HF will come back, and I certainly hope he will. However from my involvement with indie games over the past few years (although I realise there are differences to the crypto world - there are similarities), I've seen many projects that look fantastic crash and burn because the dev team break up, or because the marketing wasn't up to the quality of the game itself. Or simply because it was the wrong game released at the wrong time.
I think there's a pretty solid infrastructure built around HYPER now with the game servers, DVK and Snake, and what appears to be reasonably consistent trading volume. Others will be able to look at the situation a lot more objectively than I can; I'm no expert on any level regarding crypto, and only got into it at all because HYPER sponsored one of the games that I'm developing - but I think the skill set owned by the members here that I can see are invested in keeping HYPER running are enough to take things forward. We can't always fall back on "going nowhere" when HF isn't around - real-life issues can easily get in the way, any dev knows that, any realistic person knows that.
Sorry about this whole stream of consciousness thing, I just wanted to get it off my chest and see what others thought.
I agree HYPER does have a good infrastructure.
I think there needs to be more done in the community. It's nice to have a lead dev to organize everything but the community also needs to help and try get new stores and services for it. If HF doesn't come back soon a few people should team up and take over.
