The Back-testing Module on Historical Data

In the MoonTrader terminal, back-testing against historical data is implemented. After analyzing past data, Traders can choose how to best adjust the operation of their strategies, identifying key shortcomings, and making adjustments to optimize profitability.

Storing historical tick data from the Binance exchange requires about 10–15 GB of storage for one week alone. Therefore, testing a strategy over a long period can be a very resource-intensive process. To facilitate testing algorithms in this way, back tests will be executed on our own servers, where all the historical price information for each of the available Exchanges and markets will be stored.

Thus, the users of our platform will experience all the benefits of historical back-testing at tick-data level, which is an almost unique capability compared to other trading bots.

Back-testing of trading algorithms against historical data requires 2 separate approaches:

testing against publicly available candlestick data;
testing against previously saved data of each exchange.

Automatic Detection of Market Conditions and Auto Trading on Signals

Thanks to streaming data acquisition, the terminal monitors all available markets simultaneously, and is therefore able to react almost instantaneously as favorable trading possibilities are presented. And due to the minimal delay in the execution of orders, MoonBot responds to abnormal changes almost instantly.

MoonTrader, just like MoonBot, will be capable of fully automatic processing and trading off Telegram signals as well as parced TradingView alerts.

Tick Chart. Display of All Orders on the Chart

Thanks to the API connection to the exchange, the terminal receives stream data of all filled orders on the exchange as soon as they were processed by the exchange servers and immediately displays them on the chart.

Thus, the visualization of the current state of the market is provided in real time with an accuracy of tens of milliseconds and as detailed as displaying each order on the chart.

The Candlestick Chart Trading Module

After using candlestick charts for years, it is difficult to get used to using tick charts for trading. The candlestick chart type of interpretation of market data is familiar to Traders on larger time frames. Traditional Traders find it more convenient to work on candlestick charts with easy time frame switching and a familiar set of indicators. Algorithmic Trading and Modular Algorithms Builder

At the moment, MoonBot implements 13 types of automatic strategies. Within the adjustable settings for these strategies, there are more than 200 parameters which can be optimized to best trade in all market conditions.

Trading bots, and strategy optimization, can be quite difficult for new Traders until they build their experience. Therefore, we are implementing an advanced Algorithm Builder UI in MoonTrader to improve the user experience, and to easily develop profitable bots that feature winning combinations of advanced technical indicators.

A Trade Assistant tool has been designed into the trading terminal, whose function is to collect and analyze information about user actions:

Trade Assistant helps you to analyze the current market conditions.
It displays information based on your previous transactions, such as the average profitability of your past trades on the selected coin.
With your specific consent, this tool can send data to our servers about your transactions without personal information, to receive valuable information on how to improve own trading.
By analyzing the information received from the above from all market participants, we will provide summary analytics. For example, about how many market participants are currently trading on a given currency pair.

OCO orders (one cancels the other) are one of the most sought-after functions from both the Exchanges providing liquidity to the markets, and applications running on top of the exchanges. The modern Trader cannot trade without the basic “smart” functions and addons to traditional exchange orders and considers them to be the bare minimum set in their arsenal.

Lightning fast execution of orders on the exchange, and order status update

Depending on the distance of the user from the exchange servers, the delay in order execution should not exceed 1 second. Theoretically, the delay can be reduced to a minimum intangible — 10–20 ms. Below is presented a very short extract (4 seconds in total) of the MoonBot log text file with brief explanations and highlights of the key features. MoonTrader of course, will inherit this feature.

User-friendly interface with configurable customization options

The interfaces of the trading terminals and applications are very difficult for the average user to understand. Therefore, the MoonTrader terminal interface will allow beginners to easily learn the basics of trading. The tooltips and the built-in “Advisor” will help the user understand the interface and will offer the best options for automatic trading, or will provide a list of sources of useful information. Well, the most distinguished feature is the list of features itself, which is to be implemented. Compared to many other projects which stagnated a year or two post-ICO, we are actually already working on the platform.

This product is being developed by a joint team that also includes core developers of MoonBot, which have more than proven themselves. That being said, we will have no problem in building all these features into MoonTrader, while adding a very feature rich environment to complement the upcoming product.
