TEST 15 a bit delayed. APIs very cool (DOM API for the SAFE Browser). App devs can work with the browser now to test their web_apps.

Enjoy!@!

if only they coded as much as they wrote about codeing

https://github.com/maidsafe/crust

4778 commits in Routing:
https://github.com/maidsafe/routing

1863 commits in Vaults:
https://github.com/maidsafe/safe_vault

This is all done in Rust since they moved away from over 500K lines of C++ code in 2015. I could post more of their repo's but I think I've made my point. And coding isn't the only thing they do, in the last update they wrote:

On a bigger picture view, we have almost 70% of the routing team in design meetings with 2 current threads, one of these is comparisons of our consensus algorithms with respect to disjoint sections and comparisons with others such as PBFT and Tangaroa, to name a few. These meetings are producing results that are all very good and we're hoping to get the discussions, once matured, moved over to the Dev forum while initial implementation can occur in parallel.

So it's not only coding, it's designing the system as well. Have a look:

And this is only a part of the system for bootstrap, here's the complete version:

https://cacoo.com/diagrams/Oxl9DnwBQEyzggVE#E6B3E

And next to that there's testing, and more testing and more testing. So yes, it's taking a long time, but I know they work quite hard. The results are here as well as each iteration becomes better. Let's hope we'll see TEST 15 today or tomorrow and Alpha 2 in the coming weeks. After that the real fun begins with "Mutable Data" in testnets. MD allows for the transfer of ownership which includes alt_coins. Maidsafe will work on data republishing (not on Farming and/or Safecoin yet) but I know several community folks that work on wallets and coins:

https://safenetforum.org/t/introducing-safe-wallet-app/11764/76

These coins can't be transferred from person A to person B as the "Mutable Data API" isn't finished yet, but they're close with that. And then we'll see the first cryptoproject ever that does transactions without a blockchain (let me know if I missed another one as I don't know them all). It will be a lot of fun as transactions are expected to be finalized under a second  Cheesy. Quite cool if you ask me.

TL;DR: yes, it's taking some time Grin but IMO the team is kicking ass and coding like a bunch of ninja's.

What i mean by code is deliver product as well as they deliver press releases::

where is a product people can use now

even eth got this right....even though it was command line in the beginning, it gave people a working system they could play with.

I don't care if its 1980's style bulletin boards, command line ftp style etc ... no browser or gui ... just the guts of it.

Big utter nonsense, there's code to play with for far over far a year now (even longer for the real geeks). Especially the type of terminal stuff you talk about:

https://safenetforum.org/t/profiling-vault-performance/10331/59

Here's TEST 2 (May 2016) with all you just asked for:

https://safenetforum.org/t/safe-network-test-2-update-7th-may-12-15-bst-now-complete/9079

Notice it has GUIs for Linux, Windows and OSX. So yeah, thanks for trolling but you don't know 1 little thing about this project. Nice to interact anyway  Tongue.

wow, sold at 14300 now buying at 14900, so let's guess. this person wanted to accumulate more at sub 15000. sold a few at 14300 long enough to get people to dump it, now he's accumulating. not even hiding. i suggest we all buy more, will get pumped

Yeah, there was a weird alternation between a huge sell wall and a huge buy wall. I'm curious to see for how long this will keep going on.
Anyway buy/sell walls sizes are pretty much similar, it looks like it's the work of one person but this is only my opinion.

What is happening is pretty obvious to me.

That sell wall.. XXD

Yeah ~980 BTC worth of MAID are being sold on Poloniex @ 14300 sat / MAID. This is one order.
Who the hell has ~6,500,000 MAIDS to dump in one order ?
This is about $US 1,000,000 worth of MAID  Shocked

Anyway sell wall is being eaten slowly BTC per BTC ...

the 452,552,412 MAID are not the total supply that is 1 billion,
those are the coins in circulation right now:
https://coinmarketcap.com/assets/maidsafecoin/

not very much familiar with madesafe, i've read the op but found no information whether the 452,552,412 MAID is the max total supply?
the coin doesn't have much value since the time i was here inthe forum but it gradually reach $0.18 this time. i come to think this is going to be a good coin to trade too. Smiley

This is from their website (maidsafe.net). So the answer to your question is almost 4.3 billion (32-bit address range, so can't ever be more than that).
In 2014 they created 430 million coins (10%) for the crowdsale, but due to a glitch in the mastercoin protocol (the transaction to stop the issuing of new coins was too late) 452 million where created. You'll see this number on coinmarketcap for example.

So around 10% of the coin are out as  "proxy coins" which can be exchanged for the real thing 1-on-1 when the network is live with Farming/Safecoin.

New coins are created when people deliver data to the network (Farmers). When people store data on the network they will pay with Safecoin, and the payment goes to the "network". So they give up the address of that coins and now the coin is out of circulation. It might be Farmed later on.

When 50% of all coins are Farmed then half of all the Farming Attempts will fail, because the network picks a random Safecoin-address to see if it can be Farmed. If the coins is already Farmed, the Farming attempt fails. So the full number of coins won't ever be Farmed, at least: not in this century  Tongue.

Farming isn't unlimited as well. When there's too much free space in the network, the Farming Reward goes down. So the more people farming, the less coins are paid when you delivered a GB of data from your Vault. Data delivered from cache (popular data) won't create any Safecoin at all.

Maidsafe will introduce test_safecoin before introducing the real thing, that way everybody can start Farming and testing and calculating.

Great times ahead.

Has anyone here done a comparison between MaidSafe and Shift (shiftnrg.org)?

They seem like similar projects, yet Shift is less than $1MM.
