Litecoin still has a bright future as backup payment protocol. Love to see devs working on this and business expanding.

I see a LOT of people complaining about fees in Litecoin-Qt.

These are early adopters on newbie forums.  I understand when these were worth a few cents the fees prevented the dusting attacks - job accomplished.

Now the value of the LTC has grown to the point that sending 1 LTC makes sense, often we only want to spend $5 or so.

So if there is a 40% or 20% fee on 1 LTC in Litecoin-Qt we just drove away a new adopter and advocate for the currency, it seems worse than a scandalous bank.

PLEASE - this is a small change but REDUCE THIS FEE in light of the value change of one LTC.

Fees will be reduced with the next release. Thanks.

I posted in another thread but probably will get looked past.

i just fired up my old bitcoin rigs to get solo some lite coins for a few months.

is this ok? been on for well over 2 days. plenty of rejects but no blocks found yet.. i ran it all on a pool for about 3-4 hours and got a coin in that time. so the setup should be fine correct? was a bitch to get them going on litecoins . bitcoin much easier to mine.
but this @ 650w isnt profitable at all..

Your setup is ok. Litecoin blocks are harder to get these days. When I've started, I was solving 1 block/30 min, now it's around 2/day.

How many H/s you getting?

If my 1.2 is too low ill this a go for a week or two, and then just start using a pool if its un sussessful.

i have one of my bitcoin rigs coming back soon and will get about 3.5mh/s.

He would need 20mhs to get 2/day. If he has less than that, its luck.

Solo mining at 1.2mhs at this difficulty... You would be lucky to get a block after 500 rejects.

is litecoin more profitable to mine then bitcoin atm given the recent btc price rise?

Yes. About 70% more profitable.

http://dustcoin.com/mining

It looks like LTC's difficulty just spiked up a little bit. Only 60% more profitable. Still a considerable difference at the current exchange rates.

So, after reading this thread: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/so-i-mined-45-ltc-via-p2pool-170863

I realized that Litecoin currently has a higher USD transaction than BTC.  This is mainly due to the recent spike in price.  So I was wondering if a lower minimum transaction fee was planned for the next release.  Litecoin is supposed to be more suited for small transactions.  Litecoin should be able to support smaller transactions because the block chain can allow for more transactions.  I don't have a price in mind yet but I think this issue needs to be brought to the table and considered.

It did not happen. Do not listen to the trolls on BTC-e.

I just checked the chat and apparently Putin is giving away Litecoin to everyone with rubles. I think it best to leave the mis-information on the troll box.

Litecoin will be updated to 0.8.1 soon. Like wtogami said, I had originally planned to stay 1 major version behind Bitcoin so that we don't get bit by a bad release. But as it turned out, the 0.8 hard fork just made it clear that there was an issue with old releases that could cause a hard fork even without 0.8. So wtogami and pooler will be helping me with rebasing the Litecoin code to 0.8.1. I do want to wait til May 15 to make sure that Bitcoin is able to handle the potential hard fork. Since the Litecoin community is much smaller, we should have even less of a problem. But it's better to be safe.

i have a rigg with 2x5870 and 1x5830.
my issue is that when it shows 800khash in cgminer
it doesnt show more than arround 3-400khash in pool(tested with both notroll and litecoinpool)

my other rigg with 2x7970 show the right amount in both cgminer and the pool.
Any ideas???

I saw the same thing with multiple pools and current cgminer, for me what did the trick was going from -g 1 to -g 2 and all of the sudden more shares were getting done and the hashrate on pools reflected that.
