It wont open only when the nodes are in the .conf

rpcuser=ehalvers
rpcpassword=x
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=
daemon=1
server=1
gen=0

addnode 98.208.99.180
addnode 71.187.248.95
addnode 119.9.15.177
addnode 27.33.117.153

Shouldn't it be:

Code:
rpcuser=ehalvers
rpcpassword=x
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=9876
daemon=1
server=1
gen=0

addnode=98.208.99.180

Sunny biscuits and cheese!

Sorry what I gave you was wrong, OK try this:

addnode=98.208.99.180
addnode=71.187.248.95
addnode=119.9.15.177
addnode=27.33.117.153

Sorry I look at code all day long, and I've been drinking a little, so I'm starting to miss some important details.   lol....

I would delete your %APPDATA%/Megacoin directory too, before re-installation.  Assuming that since you've never connected, you have 0 Megacoins.

Will cross some more fingers.

addnode=71.187.248.95
addnode=119.9.15.177
addnode=27.33.117.153

We don't give up easily  Grin

Try adding this to the bottom of your megacoin.conf file, and then restart megacoin.

addnode 71.187.248.95
addnode 119.9.15.177
addnode 27.33.117.153

Hopefully it will connect to the top one first.

Will cross fingers.   Shocked

Yeah it tries the hosts over and over but fails. No luck on that ip address either, and I've tried deleting the peers.dat file several times  Cry
okay try the general restart/renew ip and temporary turn off all A/V and re-download the client.

Interesting.  Do you see this IP:  71.187.248.95 anywhere in your debug.log file?  (after letting it try for a while)

Do you see it just trying IRC hosts over and over, and failing?

One thing you can try is shut down megacoin, delete the "peers.dat" file in %APPDATA%/Megacoin, and restart megacoin.  It will get rebuilt when megacoin restarts.  (Did I get very lucky - let me know if that helps any?  lol...  Grin )

yeah I suggest re-download blocks from beginning.

So strange  Huh, ya it's like your machine isn't letting Megacoin connect to port 7951 of the IRC host(s)

Do me a quick favor, see if you can connect to:  http://71.187.248.95:7951/  (opening it in a browser is fine)

You should get a "no data received" error.  But I am wondering if you will get a "timeout" instead.

Still 0 active connections to Megacoin network  Undecided I dunno whats up with this lol It's definitely on the exceptions list.

Yes this is windows, and no I dont see any error messages in the debug.txt, at least nothing that jumps out at me. and I have added it to the exceptions list, I am running Microsoft Security Essentials but I havent had any problems with any other wallets.

--Edit: Wait I do see something weird. A line that says

"IRC connect failed"
and then a few other threads stopping/being interrupted

not sure what that means

If you'd like to post the weird lines from the debug file here, and also a copy of your megacoin.conf file, we can try to help.  To me it sounds so far like your wallet can't talk to the rest of the world, but we'll see.

.conf

rpcuser=username
rpcpassword=x
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=7950
daemon=1

gen=0

Ok here is the problem:
Code:
irc thread start
ThreadIRCSeed trying to connect...
init message: Done loading
msghand thread start
net thread start
addcon thread start
refreshWallet
Flushed 0 addresses to peers.dat  3ms
GetMyExternalIP() received [98.223.61.77] 98.223.61.77:0
GetMyExternalIP() returned 98.223.61.77
AddLocal(98.223.61.77:7951,5)
connection timeout
Flushed 0 addresses to peers.dat  3ms
connection timeout
IRC connect failed

Are you 100% sure that Megacoin is allowed as an exception in your firewall (and MSE if necessary?)  Wondering if your other wallets are allowed, but megacoin is not, possibly.

Here is what this should look like, provided the client (wallet) is able to reach out:
Code:
ThreadIRCSeed trying to connect...
trying connection 185.12.45.80:7951 lastseen=355554.4hrs
init message: Done loading
Flushed 283 addresses to peers.dat  93ms
refreshWallet

send version message: version 70001, blocks=69124, us=0.0.0.0:0, them=185.12.45.80:7951, peer=185.12.45.80:7951
Added time data, samples 2, offset +4 (+0 minutes)

trying connection 198.211.116.19:7951 lastseen=0.1hrs

does anyone here speak Russian?

Russia is about as big as a crypto user and US and China.

Why not have a Russian translated Megacoin website as well???

i think btc-e would like that  Grin

Yes, I have been in contact with BTC-E regarding MEGA for quiet some time.

Implementing this coin will have to take a backseat as they are still in the middle of sorting out international transfers and recently implementing a few more APIs for some alt coins.

I will definitely update this thread if any good news comes of it.
