Can you tell me how to do this? I am on options ---> network ---> auto-checked Map port using UPnP & underneath a second box available ---> Connect through SOCKS proxy:---> Proxy IP (Has numbers already?) Port (4 Numbers) SOCKS VERSION: (5)

Can I change the above to connect my wallet so it will synch and be functional? I would like to buy some MINT but I can't figure out where to hold them at.

"Map port using UPnP" looks checked AND disabled in my wallet. If it's disabled, then it doesn't work, UPNP support isn't compiled into the wallet. If it were, then it would configure the router automatically.

It's not done from your wallet, you have to connect to your router device and configure it to forward tcp/12788 to your computer's LAN IP. Or if you don't want to fiddle with your router, you can do the addnode configuration given in the first page, but port forwarding makes connecting to the network much faster, at least for me. The IPs provided in the addnode list are probably overwhelmed.

You don't even need to get the wallet to connect to buy them, all you need is to open the wallet and generate an address.  If you don't connect until a year from now, it's still fine.

You can get a lot more connections to the network by configuring port forwarding on your router, on port TCP/12788. I currently have 94 connections to the network, 91 of them are inbound (meaning they connect using the port forwarding)

Hope devs fix the UPNP issue, it would relieve the network.

Watching the net hashrate drop, frustrating.  Embarrassed

Maybe it is because http://mint.hashrapid.com/ pool is down and the miners are failing over to other coins?
Unable to connect to wallet RPC service: Unable to connect:

In the mean time I will mine HBN.

The problems with network seems to be related with UPNP. It seems that UPNP support is not compiled into the binary due to some missing lines in mintcoin-qt.pro file (comparing it with lemoncoin's). The UPNP checkbox in Options is disabled, and if you're behind a router, noone can connect you. (I don't know about Windows binaries though, I didn't test them, I'm using the sources released at launch)

I don't understand why people are panicking...you get interest from the PoS. It only makes sense that you don't sell all of your MINT and that it's designed for long term holding.  Roll Eyes

So much crying in this thread from people complaining that they aren't millionaires after buying a coin that's been out for 9 days.  It doesn't even matter if the developer gets run over by a bus and dies.  That's what open source is, development will continue.  If he disappears, I will help continue work on it, although I know a lot more about PoW than PoS.

The only worry I have about working with this coin are things like INT64 rollover issues, which I'm not sure if it even has any affect.  There's always workarounds to problems like that anyway.  Worst case scenario would just be forking it and removing a couple decimal places.  Like I said, I'm not completely knowledgeable on PoS systems yet.

But yea, worst case scenario, developer dies, I steal Hobonickels wallet for coin control, add mint pictures, remove decimal places, done.

Edit: I'm adding voluntees, see below

To have my fait restored in this coin I wiil need:

- Know the exact number of pre-mined coins and how they will be used.
- Get a new client that just works.
- New website and forum

Steban, I propose something: everyone who would be OK with lending a hand to the dev says so. Write down "I'm in for assisting the" in a post and I will update the post accordingly. Preferably, say what you are good at (and like to do)  also.

Help can be of various kind:
- community management (volunteer: ShibeonBarkmont)
- commercial agreements with merchants
- marketing
- documentation
- webdesign
- translation
- development
- management (volunteer: David Latapie)

So who is in to help make mintcoin kick ass?

Then I will contact the dev with a list of volunteers.

Remember: this coin has the highest traffic on mintpal, even more than Panda (granted, Panda is very new on mintpal). Also, mintcoin has a catchy name, an exchange which happens to sound the same (it is a coincidence, but let's capitalize on it), half the pages of noblecoin in quarter the time AND it is not yet on coinmarketcap or cryptsy.
I say this coin only need a bigger team. That's where you come into play.

Man, some people are simply so impatient. This coin has only been out a little over week, give or take. Be patient with the devs. As long as we see that they are still moving, things are good.

Can the wallet binaries be configured to ship with basic config having the right nodes so users dont have to mess with it?
+1, it would help increase user adoption (as for source code, an example config could be added too, as mastercoin did).

This coin has a large trade volume considering it's not even a couple of weeks old, the dev's need to concentrate on getting the other bits in place and the price will increase substantially.
Better yet: increase the size of the team. Make a public call for designers, coder, user experience (UX) specialist... I am sure you'd find more than one person willing to help.

I can't stand those trolls screaming "OMFG THIS COIN IS DEAD 1 BIL BTC SELL ORDERS 0,5 BTC BUY ORDERS OMFG OMFG NO DEV OMFG"

This is a freakin 9 days old coin, what the hell do you expect? Man, just chill!

Basically other coin fanboys saying anything to destroy coin faith.

People use your brains, this coin is not in demand yet simply because its not POS yet.  Go look at the first 100 pages of another POS coin and see the shit they had to go through.

1) This is quite possibly the smoothest launch of any coin.
2) You can mine another coin while this builds.
3) A decent exchange with the same name coincidently? Www.mintpal.com
4) A Dev that avoids the trolls as he should instead of flame wars.

Really, I'm all in here.  I'd even put down a 2 BTC bet that April 1st. This coin will be sitting pretty at 250+ Satoshi

+1

I totally agree, I dont really know if this coin will hit 250+ satoshi but I am sure that who got in early will get some nice profit
