I have just discovered these coins and I have a question.

Are the 4 gems that are forged using BitGems the same coins that are also separate from BitGems?

For example, the DMD, RBY, SPH, and EMD.  Are those the 4 coins by the same abbreviations?

Sorry if this is a stupid question that has been answered already.

no, BTG is a very old coin
it was launched before DMD, RBY, SPH, EMD...
I guess these coins were inspired with BTG

maybe it's a good idea though
to join forces with these coins

This is where all those coins are now.  Whoever had the first 900 coins also has over 15,000 of them here.  I tracked them to this address.

http://abe.alfter.us/address/gcanXbNNvzQfFcFpiq5WD6d3Aa451ekdh1

So basically half of the total money supply is at that one address and is where those first 900 coins were moved.

900 BTG's net worth currently is $100...
15,000 BTG < $2,000

if this address belongs to a dev maybe he had been mining (or buying) these coins for years...
it's a good sign if a dev holds his own coin (if he is not sellling it like many first adopters of centralized overpriced projects do)

usually people tell that a coin is a scam when devs dump all their coins at the beginning and disappear
on the other hand since a coin has been created it belongs to the whole community even if its original dev was not honest

so not a scam, but pretty centralized?
or maybe this big address is an address of Cryptsy cold storage?

New website again says no premine.

If I am misunderstanding something then please explain it to me.

The first 900 or so coins went to one address. The announcement was about one hour after the first coin was mined. If that is not a premine then just explain to me how it is not a premine.

The Dev has spent hundreds of hours or more on the coin. He needs to make some money, I understand that. But if the coin is marketed this way at any moment a person could notice the first 900 coins and post exactly what I am posting.

Is the point here to trick people into buying the coins then they dump them at a lower price when they see the premine?

Please explain anything I might be portraying wrong.

network is up ... but addnodes? explorers? code depo?

I've just found a block explorer at  http://abe.alfter.us/chain/Bitgem
Available supply currently is 37,941 BTG.

The question now is estimated altcoin inflation or total supply over the next 10 years.

The information is needed for http://alt19.com/19/cryptocurrency.php

Thank you.

2013 coins are falling off fast.  Bitgems has been good to me over the years. I would like to see it persist.

Hi kilo17,

What screen is giving you the token expired message? I can potentially extend the token expiration time to make it easier to do what you need to do.

Keeps saying Token Expired... repeated multiple times and even using different info... To much protection isn't that good -- Smiley

coin seems abandonned

This coin cannot be taken seriously unless someone gets a block explorer working.

it's here

Excellent coin with a lot of possibilities, but there has to be a bare minimum of transparency.

The first 900 coins were mined by one address. It was premined.

The Dev used a lot of it promoting the coin. He should account for those btg exactly, in a public way. I don't have a whole lot of bitgem left but I'd donate some toward offsetting the premine, whatever is not accounted for.

I'm fine with either direction. Fix the premine issue as described above, or deep six the coin. Either way.

If the Dev can produce addresses and explanations for half the coins, I'll donate 50 btg to the faucet and maybe others will donate the rest. I've pm'd with the Dev and he is obviously a decent fellow and a lot of people still support this project, but the first 900 coins are a cloud that has to be cleared first.

BTW, the other explorer is working now too http://bitgem.alfter.us:2750/

Btg could easily be driven to a few hundred k marketcap if it were cleaned up. But it will be a temporary pump unless the coin is fully transparent.
