Quick question...

I see in the Original post that the source should be at https://github.com/bitgem/bitgem , but this appears to be the old source for the coin. Where can I get the source for the newer 0.4.1.8 release? I am reopening my pool and want to make sure that I have the newest code available.

Or am I reading these changes as "The underlying code will stay the same, but you can alter the coin WITHIN the Windows Only (0.4.1.Cool wallet." ?

Oh and BTW,  http://btg.pnwminer.com is back up and running.

i havent installed the alpha yet, i will and i'll report (if) any bugs i might find...

but wouldnt be cool if i could forge a bad ass 1000 btg diamond that couldnt be unforged and only could ever be sold as is with its unique timestamp (+ shape/color etc)?

Who is holding that sweet Diamond inside his chest??? (anyone might wonder looking at the wallet build-in gem-explorer...) Grin

hehehe, a solid 1000 BTG Diamond would be a subtype of colored coin, somehow "solid colored gem". I called it "sticky transactions", because it should be sent the whole amount of coins for processing the transaction. Anyway, that is not too difficult to implement, but exchanges should show these transactions somehow. Anyway, it would very funny in exchanges  Grin !!

FIRST CRYPTO-CURRENCY TRADING COLORED COINS

Bitgem provides a modular wallet enabling colored gems. Colored gems embody built-in wallet colored coins, providing sending gems feature, and applying an automatic conversion between BTG and gems {DMD, RBY, SPH, EMD}.

BTG can be forged into Diamonds, Rubys, Sapphires or Emeralds, or abbrev. DMD, RBY, SPR, EMD. There are two processes implied:

1) Forge gems. Gem-forging process is represented like BTG -> {DMD, RBY, SPR, EMD}. It is carried out when user forges  DMD, RBY, SPR, EMD with explicit settings of carat, color, clarity, cut and shape properties.

Modular Wallet

It is done extending bitcoin original wallet, by means of an extension of wallet source. So, extending original wallet (wallet.dat), it is possible to storing gem forging information into extended wallet (gemwallet.dat).

WARNING: DELETING OF GEMWALLET.DAT FILE WILL IMPLY LOSS OF GEM FORGING INFO.

2) Send gems. Bitgeminization is represented like {DMD, RBY, SPR, EMD} -> BTG. It is the opposite of gem forging, and it is carried out when an incoming BTG transaction is refunded to existent gems and re-forged.

The aim of current developement is to provide a native method for sending colored gems, ie. DMD, RBY, SPR, EMD.

Gem forging and Bitgeminization (send gems) processes are planned to be a previous stage to true colored gems.

Think my video card is taking a poop. I get few hours in and get a system crash. Not sure if it's OS related or hardware.

Tried signing up ,but keep getting "Account registration is currently disabled. Please try again later. We are currently not accepting new user registrations."

That was a mistake on my part. Huh Registration at bitgem.alfter.us is now open as of a few minutes ago.

I've also tightened up the email templates so they don't pollute your inbox with HTML, and I've enabled variable difficulty in the stratum server.  Your mining rig should settle in somewhere around twelve shares per minute (one every five seconds), unless your hashrate is low.  I'm using half of a Gridseed blade miner, which delivers about 2.5 MH/s.  (It's running at 800 MHz to keep hardware errors down in the heat we're now getting.)  The server settled on a difficulty setting of 256 for it.  The old server, by comparison, had difficulty fixed at 32.

woohoo!, up and running. I'll be adding more miners soon. Trading out Illustration work for the hardware  Grin Love it when I don't have to spend cash!

Claiming Payment from bitgem.dyndns.org

As mentioned in a recent post, I've upgraded my pool.  It's now at bitgem.alfter.us.  There was still some unclaimed mining income at the old pool, however.  For those users who provided a payout address, here's how you can get your money:

  • Sign a message with the private key associated with your address...something like this:
Code:
bitgemd signmessage gbmW4Cni36qbXmrtJLmKGp9yYG4Ya8A6Ss "Give me my money"
This will produce a base64 string similar to this:
Code:
HwlYOOl3ox7EG0CPfvJNVV6M2pfj4WwM9A+PJZPA2CBYaoyOTrVq9/6aGISwchKp5/woaRjryxkxGjRhT8KOQk8=
  • Send me your address, message, and signature.  Email is preferred (send to [email protected], and make sure you reply to the TMDA challenge), but a PM here would also work.
  • I'll verify your signature with something like this:
Code:
bitgemd verifymessage gbmW4Cni36qbXmrtJLmKGp9yYG4Ya8A6Ss HwlYOOl3ox7EG0CPfvJNVV6M2pfj4WwM9A+PJZPA2CBYaoyOTrVq9/6aGISwchKp5/woaRjryxkxGjRhT8KOQk8= "Give me my money"
If this comes back "true," I'll fire off a payment to this address.  This is very much a manual process, so some patience will be appreciated.

Here's what I have in the database as still unpaid, for amounts of at least 0.01 BTG.  (Less than that is getting close to the transaction fee.)  I'll take requests until the end of July. That's nearly two months. After that, any unclaimed funds will be considered a donation to the pool.

“Blockchain Just Entered The Real World”
Ah good deal bud, I believe I was able to get my balance off the old site. Also I'll be buying some Gridseed miners soon!

Is there any ongoing development with this coin or is it a dying rare coin? Been a holder since last year, and want to keep holding but seems like there is no active community?

The one functioning pool I was at for what ever reason will no longing load. I've tried different browsers and no luck. I like this coin, so I hope it doesn't die out.

that isnt my pool is it?

This one https://bitgem.dyndns.org/

That's mine. :-| The server was getting to be a bit too twitchy, so I've replaced it:

https://bitgem.alfter.us/

It's running newer software (the latest MPOS instead of mmcfe-ng) on much more powerful hardware.  The OP needs to be updated to point to the new server instead.

Accounts weren't migrated, so you'll need to create a new one and set up your workers again.  Once that's done, though, things should be more stable and reliable.

The blockchain explorer and wallet generator have also been migrated.

Since accounts weren't migrated, there were some remaining balances on the old server that need to be claimed.  I'll post a list shortly of balances and addresses, with instructions for claiming your payout.
