hey bitgemers, I have done substantial progress with sending gems. I have added an aditional tab "Send gems", enabling straight sending gems feature. Still work is needed, but I think a BETA pre-release is affordable for middle of next week.

Besides,  I will need beta-testers for testing sending gems feature. This is a true innovative coin, with new source and features. For this reason, it will be needed a full software cycle completion, ending up with testing the new feature.

This is the looking of the new PRE-ALPHA wallet, with sending gems feature. Amazing, doesnt it?

I think giveaways are banned

Preminecoin had a huge giveaway here  Smiley Also, Poloniex has giveaways. We should all ask Tristan to add BTG to the Poloniex exchange.

BTW, it is possible I release the new GemWallet sooner than thought if I  find a bit more of time.

Excellent news min, can't wait!
Where are you from by the way? Are you Chinese?

Is there anything the community can do? I can arrange a giveaway to keep Bitgem in the public eye.

About new GemWallet, dont worry, I will annouce it properly.

Sry I'm a bit slow - so if I don't have the wallet open for months I will lose minting is that true.? It has to be open 24/7 in order to optimize minting?
OK thx - will I see a small icon in the righthand lower corner when it is minting POS?

You will notice when you receive PoS transactions with stake to be applied, then you must to wait cofirms and RoI is yours. It is the common PoS scheme as is working in PPCoin and NovaCoin.

Curious, since I don't see it anywhere...but how many total bitgems will be created?  Or is there no cap?

Thanks.

This is already said before, I think.

Current cap is currently about 25,000 BTG and Max Cap limit is virtually endless in terms of crypto-time (there is a hardcoded value of 500,000  ), according to ppcoin scheme. The limit of max cap is imposed by rate of mining (lesser than 1,000 BTG / month with current diff), and this one  is determined by reward algorithm (behalve each x32 diff). Rate of gems mining will be about 10,000 BTG/year, so it is a really very very scarce commodity.

I may have missed if this has been asked:
How do the POS work?
Do I need to leave the wallet open or do I earn POS also when it's closed?
Can an encrypted wallet earn POS?
If not - which command do I need to enter in the console?

PoS works when wallet is open and unlocked. Then, you will recieve a monthly 1-3% year RoI .

Hello, I would like to know if Bitgem is involved or related to designing 3D animated game characters, buildings, etc for the 3D animated game software developer project at

http://3Docean.net/user/BITGEM

inb4 lawsuit?

Trademarked names can be the same name if the business type is classified as different.

just downloaded and installed the new wallet form mineral's link above for the new wallet 0.4.1.8
after installation and opening wallet checking About BitGem it says:

v0.4.1-nvc-39-g3357d25-beta

Is that version 0.4.1.8 - and if so - why is it not showing so?

It is just only x.x.x versioning system is currently shown in bitcoin. x.x.x.x versioning system is preferred by coherence with NVC base branch, from which Bitgem was forked. It is ridiculous to use 1.x.x  versioning like most of scam coins do, because bitcoin version itself is 0.8.6.

You can see, a bit more bellow,  build date: 2014-02-15 18:22:11 +0100

getnetworkhashps method is implemented from 0.4.1.8 version.

thank you mineral - but I don't see that build date in About BitGem you highlighted above?
OK tried the getnetworkhashps which worked so that would mean it is the .8 version I guess

oogghhhh Angry

i have to interrupt my minting pos blocks process...damn... Grin

How do you get the pos to work?

Just by opening your wallet, have it unlocked and having some mature 1month+ coins to mint a pos block for you Wink

Maybe you'll need a day or a just few seconds to mint that block/s depending on the amount of coins and how mature are. i think max its 3 months old.

To have an general idea read this http://www.peercoin.net/minting.php, in fact the whole whitepaper of PPC is a must read imo

How do i unlock the wallet? I have a password set.
