I've been having trouble syncing the blockchain when I launch the client lately. Should I delete it and start from scratch?

...The same thing goes for any Nxt clone or offshoot with a brainwallet, including the Nxt clone NFD that I happen to be the (somewhat titular) lead dev for.

Oh...you discovered I have a double life! That's me. I'm using that series as my limber-up to churn out promotional writings for NFD itself. Once I'm through the entire hunk - I'm only two or three days away - I'll have shaken off enough rust from my writer's brain to start churning out step-by-step how-to guides for NFD. And then spreading them around on the great wide Internet.
Unfortunately, I still have to write in fits and starts - still have to shake off a case of adrenaline fatigue - but I'm almost warmed up enough to set on writing for the sake of NFD.
That's hell of the writing my friend, cudos to you.

The Bter Job was actually a rush special prompted by the hack. By coincidence, it's in the same issue of Enter Stage Right as my capsule history of Nxt.
Right now, I've got several more "in the hanger" waiting to fly, one per week except for the end-of-summer break. I'm hoping that the entire series, "Real-Time Self-Government In The Cryptocurrency Frontier", will pick up enough regulars so that the final part of the series will get a lot of people interested in NFD. That final part, of course, will be devoted to the NFD Story.
By the time the NFD article is ready to be submitted to the editor, I should have a whole suite of step-by-step easy-start guides for the general audience.

Before trying that, try logging out of the wallet, shutting down the client, restarting the client, waiting until it's finished its job, and then logging back in to the wallet. See if this works.
Is there a command for the terminal window that will actually shut off the client? [OSX]
Uh...I don't have a Mac, so I can't say for sure. In Windows, all you have to do is click the "X" to close the command-line window and the OS takes care of the rest.

Right now, MaWo's on a well-needed vacation somewhere in the woods; he should be back next Monday. But before he went, he came up with a roadmap bounty list that we plan to put up threads for. Add-ons like:
- Tor integration;
- A more sophisticated block explorer;
- Scripting support;
- Anonymization;
- and...the add-on that I think will really be the long-term winner: a simple client.
