Why is it that whenever I limit my th/s and I go to sleep to find out that it runs 3x more than I put it on?

I always check it out before I go to sleep. I limited my th/s to 18th/s. Why did it keep running way past that so I could wake up this morning only to find that my 2 bitcoin that should have been mining all night was finished within a fucking hour?

Do not know if anybody here still uses Gridseed 5-chip dual miners but this is what you need https://github.com/dmaxl/cgminer/
Use --scrypt  and --sha256 commands to fire each instance of cgminer.
Tested and works with WestHash and most likely with NicHash too. Have not tried that nouncy thingy though.

Posted this to the wrong thread somehow a few days ago.

ie is the day added the 19th or the day they added the 20th?

Take a look here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.9858862 ... but of course, nobody actually knows, they might as well extend the PoW phase ... in any case, grab as many XPY while it lasts.

and er on a side note it is still dec 19th they plan to pull the plug on this right? (at least maybe I know that much)

Why are these workers not authorized on the WestHash pool? (It's frustrating because I have 3.2TH/s worth of miners that WestHash is refusing)
Looks like the appendWorkerNames : true parameter (of Pfool's stratum proxy) doesn’t work with WestHash. Only one worker gets through, all the others are ignored with an authorisation error.
It would be a huge advantage if Nice/WestHash could allow this work to be submitted, because then we could see our individual workers behind the proxy.

We do support worker naming (see details in this FAQ: https://www.westhash.com/index.jsp?p=faq#faqs1) but unfortunately this feature does not work through Pfool's stratum proxy ... maybe you could raise this issue in Pfool's thread https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/new-stratumgetwork-proxy-with-web-based-gui-and-pools-management-611338 ... hopefully he could fix this little bug.

I'm guessing this is because the stratum proxy authorises using just the bitcoin address... but then sends work though with the bitcoin address plus the .worker_name suffix.

It would be a huge advantage if Nice/WestHash could allow this work to be submitted, because then we could see our individual workers behind the proxy.

At the moment, in order to have multiple miners submit work, I have to turn off the appendWorkerNames parameter in the stratum proxy, which means that all my miners appear as one big miner in the WestHash interface. This means I can't troubleshoot the performance of individual miners.

I'm new to WestHash, please excuse me if these questions have been answered already:
1) Does KnCMiner Neptune work ok on NiceHash?
heh i'd like to put the patch in for the jupiter but have no idea if

We haven't tested KnCMiner Neptune, but if you're referring to the extranonce.subscribe patch it is important to note that extranonce.subscribe is not absolutely required to mine on NiceHash/WestHash, you can just point your SHA256 miners to our stratum servers the same as any other Bitcoin pool. However, if you have a fast miner (anything > 1TH), then mining with extranonce.subscribe patched cgminer gives you a bit better payouts since your hashrate is completely stable - it doesn't fluctuate when orders changes on nicehash/westhash - no disconnects from the stratum. It's only a matter of a few percents in terms of profitability, but sometimes every percent counts.

That said - just give it a try and report if you have any success (nevertheless it might be good for you to upgrade it to the latest firmware https://www.kncminer.com/pages/neptune-setup-info).

The only show-stopper issue would it be if you would be getting 99-100% rejects - this happens with some particular versions of cgminer due to extranonce2-bug ... hopefully Neptune has a recent version of cgminer without this bug.
I'm using Pfool's stratum server, and have successfully connected my Neptune to WestHash.

I've got an October Jupiter too (like Searing), and I will try to hook it up through Pfool's stratum server (that should save me from trying to figure out how to update its old cgminer version). I'll report back on how that goes (it's in a different location, so I have to build a Raspberry Pi stratum server for that location first).

I have a question: I'm trying to get my other miners (4x Bitmine CoinCraft Desks) to connect through the stratum proxy to WestHash. I had a couple of them working, but now they fail with "worker not authorized" errors like this (bitcoin address snipped):

Code:
2014-12-17 20:28:17,345 INFO     [Pool-WestHash SHA-256-Thread]:strat.mining.stratum.proxy.worker.StratumWorkerConnection - Accepted share (diff: 2048.0) from neptune1@/192.168.1.9:34900 on WestHash SHA-256. Yeah !!!!

2014-12-17 20:28:17,526 INFO     [/192.168.1.5:51666-Thread]:strat.mining.stratum.proxy.manager.ProxyManager - New WorkerConnection /192.168.1.5:51666 subscribed. 2 connections active on pool WestHash SHA-256.
2014-12-17 20:28:17,732 WARN     [/192.168.1.5:51666-Thread]:strat.mining.stratum.proxy.worker.StratumWorkerConnection - User connection not authorized. Worker 16k...br.CCD1 is not authorized on pool WestHash SHA-256. Cause: JsonRpcError [ code=null, message=null, traceback=null]

Why are these workers not authorized on the WestHash pool? (It's frustrating because I have 3.2TH/s worth of miners that WestHash is refusing)

well i can get the knc oct jupiter to work with nicehash (567gh) so yeah it is doable been mining paycoin ...but the bug is annoying..blips out like every 1/2 hr or so
..probably not a big deal was just wondering if anyone on nicehash on here has previously upgraded the knc jupiter oct cgminer 4.3 to 4.7 (knc has not done an upgrade to this in
almost a year) ...so again not even sure if an upgrade to cgminer 4.7 (new version) how to (not a linux guy) even works on a juptier either

and again not sure if the patch is included in that build or another go around

irregardless would like to know IF I decide to stay and hash BTC on www.nicehash.com once on Dec 19th when the paycoin (pow) phase is done

anyway ....likely someone has done such with their old knc oct jupiter or some such ...and again knc proper has pretty much moved on from updates
to the jupiter as of almost 9 months or so ago

just looking beyond the paycoin vacation i have here from bitcoin

and er on a side note it is still dec 19th they plan to pull the plug on this right? (at least maybe I know that much)

2) Why are the SHA-256 payouts on NiceHash so much better than mining Bitcoin recently?

heh i'd like to put the patch in for the jupiter but have no idea if

1) cgminer 4.3 from knc last update that you can even update to reg cgminer 4.7
(not a linux guy)

2) then if that is do'able does the new cgminer 4.7 or whatever have the patch and only
the #XXX or whatever is needed at the end of the statrum info to toggle it?

3) does this really matter when supposedly the POW mining aspect will be shut down on the 19th
by GAW and it is back to btc for me

not sure if any of the above is worth it ...just an annoying little bug

2) Paycoin
Isn't that a Scrypt coin?
It's a SHA256 coin, so ASIC compatible.
I'm confused, so it is not this:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/annpyc-paycoin-going-to-be-hard-forked-soon-268941

Because that page says that the algorithm is Scrypt.
Yeah, that one was the original coin called "Paycoin" and it was a scrypt coin.  The guys over at GAW either didn't research or didn't care.  The original coin dev has mentioned legal action against GAW.
