Yes, BTC was where the trouble started, then those bitcoins were used in other markets and spreading the contamination. At the same time, normal trades occured, withdrawals, deposits, and so forth, shuffling the fake btc around.

After some days of investigation, and all users withdrawals, the damage became much more clear, and as it stands now 3.82 BTC, 270 LTC and 303951671 ESP is what is missing.

Hi,

I fully understand the scepticism, which was why I also made the transactions visibile and linked the addresses to explorers. So that you can (if you want) track the coins.

I am not the owner nor operator of Novaexchange, but I am a close IRL friend of the founder since many many years. I dont want him, or his users (you) to suffer from this.

All the LTC donations so far are from ScryptPool and it's users.

I'll see about getting the first transactions over to get the refunding process started as soon as possible.

The lost funds will be replaced with the generous donations.

I hope people will continue to let this exchange try to re establish and they are still sending back the coins that has been lost I've seen many transaction has been made and nova is still working to replace those coin that has been lost.

It was never and will never ever be their intention to scam anyone. Look how well they are dealing with this situation.

The hack was indeed real and also very unfortunate, yet they are doing everything they can to restore and recover.

The delays in withdrawals is also easily explained, some of them requires manual review. You all want it to be correct, yea ?

i have been following the activity of nova exchange after they announced they were hacked, as soon as i read the notice i withdrew my coins, though some take sometime to be transferred but eventually i got all of 'em, i don't think this exchange was trying to scam people.

Guys, that was my situation too. send him pm in twitter and he rollsback your trade and you can get your esp back.
Those esp-btc trades was not real since hacker vheated with btc wallet balance.
I'm happy with this solution.

All in all, BTC, DOGE and ESP balances cannot be trusted, the vulnerability caused the attacker insert a transaction within deposit systems. But did not think that Novaexchange is a young exchange that doesn't bank a lot of coins. The total volume of BTC in the most important wallet was 3.82 BTC before the attack, not a huge amount but that does not mean it is not painful for some.

The attacker themselves did not get away with anything - actually it is happy users that got traded in ESP market during the last few hours that became happy they sold for BTC and withdrew everything. Which caused the wallet to go empty.

All trades and such is logged and I could technically do a rollback of all trades even if it will take a lot of time to sort everything out. Which would you prefer?
I am concidering to close down the exchange permanently once you have withdrawn your coins, unless the community gives any reason for Novaexchange to stay around. I wanted the site to become a serious player in this business with a lot of alt-coins that other exchanges refuses to trade, that was the idea behind Novaexchange.

So you posted this without any better checking of state of these things??

fix the security issue(s) enabling the attack vector to access the Nova database
move the current (non-existing) BTC (and maybe DOGE and ESP) balances to new virtual BTC_reclaim currency balances
re-enable Nova service with empty BTC (and maybe DOGE and ESP) balances
setup a soft (max) limit of about 0.5 BTC which no user is allowed exceed depositing into the BTC wallet
start fundraising for a professional security audit

If you intend to close down service operations maybe because the service fees did not cover your (hosting & service) costs please share this fact with your community.
