I’d like to announce Nxt (pronounced as "next"), a cryptocurrency based on Bitcoin paradigm.

We can tell you worked really hard on this to make it work.   Smiley

I would agree that the numbers are quite sobering and that at times NXT articles are over the top and lacking substance.  More intelligent publicity of the sort you mention is a good idea, but for me the priority right now is to advance to a workable NXT package: getting the asset exchange going, developing the alias system (e.g., improving the browser plugins so that aliases are more functional) and rolling out user-friendly clients that support all of NXT's advanced features.  Once this package is in place NXT will have a set of features that really should be attractive to the wider public and publicity of the type you mention will be money well spent.  From what I have seen, all of the development steps are advancing at a reasonable pace, so there is no reason to panic and the future still looks bright for NXT.  But the decay in transaction rate can't continue indefinitely, so the clock is definitely ticking...

Cheers,
David

95% of all NXT are deposited in ~460 NXT accounts. NXT accounts can be broken down into well identifiable groups based on account activity and balance. This account clustering analysis suggests that ~840 accounts represents the core group of NXT activists and investors. The majority of the remaining NXT accounts consists of one-time-use, low-balance faucet accounts.

The alias system has attracted significant interest, whereas the message system has received limited use. The prior is in part due to significant speculation by a small group of NXT users and the current low cost of assigning aliases. The latter will likely change as new features, such as asset exchange, come online.

Overall, this analysis suggests that NXT has a non-negligible community, but needs a shakeup in order to assure continued growth and increase investor and vendor buy-in.

These are *very* sobering numbers.
Marketing is not good enough and I have said this since forever: STOP WITH THE GODDAMN ARTICLES.
NOONE is going to read the articles.

We need things like sponsoring showmatches that has thousands of viewers ( I already did this ), engaging online treasure hunt type projects like Cicada 3301, getting involved in charities (like Justabit started), donations to science research (like Klee did).
We need to do ACTIVE marketing, not passive hundreds of articles like has been done up to now.

Hi,

I did some statistical analyses on the NXT blockchain that may be useful information for others looking into NXT or for tracking progress of the network. A report of what I found is available on github:

https://github.com/dmkaplan2000/nxt_state/blob/master/nxt_state.md

I will copy the report summary below.  Questions, comments and corrections are welcome.

Cheers,
David

=====================

Summary

This report consists of statistical analyses of the NXT blockchain to assess network activity and buy-in. Time series of NXT transaction activity are calculated, and the set of NXT accounts is analyzed for wealth distribution and investment level. Time series analyses indicate that after an initial period of intense interest and activity, NXT transaction levels have declined steadily over the last ~2 months. This suggests that potential NXT investors are waiting for new features or dynamics to come online before investing in the NXT network. The recent downturn in Bitcoin's fortunes undoubtedly also has had an effect on the entire cryptocurrency market. Nevertheless, the number of NXT accounts continues to grow and the fraction of all NXT that is forging has remained relatively stable.

Ok, I wonder if you guys can help?

I bought 500+ NXT through DGEX a few nonths ago, transfered them to my account and have not touched it until yesterday.

Now, when I enter my password, it shows zero balance, zero transactions, nada.

I am sure the password is correct, I use keepass and have checked it against old backups, but it must still be logging me into the wrong account.

I have checked the account number against the explorer and that shows no information at all for the account number.

I'm guessing that my password must be wrong, but I am at a complete loss to explain how it could have happened. It was a randomly generated 30 character password.

Would it be possible for DGEX to trace the receiving account number of the transfers I made, to help me confirm if I am looking at the right account or not?

Anyway, all help is appreciated, but I suspect the NXT has gone.

This is the first time I will have lost coins in this way, I'm a fairly experienced crypto geek, so if this can happen to me, it will happen to noobs. There's got to be a better way.

It's certainly put me off the NXT system.

If there is no information in the block explorer about your account then it wasn't sent to the account. Try find out if DGEX has the account number you sent the NXT too. If anything your transaction id is in your dgex account history

DGEX usually asks you to determine the account to withdraw to when you withdraw.

update to the latest client and it should download the blockchain, and then you should see your NXT in your account.

my account number is
3555257254303130999. Webapp shows last block number 67293
Any idea where my money is?

It's in your account, everything is fine.

http://www.mynxt.info/blockexplorer/details.php?action=ac&ac=3555257254303130999

If you don't see the amount in your client after entering the correct passphrase, then it is not on par with the blockchain. Your 5358 NXT are definitely in your account.
