the risk the emittent can scamm you is not solved.

With centralized exchanges you have two risks: the issuer can scam you and the exchange can shut down running away with your money. There are quite a few crypto stocks exchanges in Bitcoin's history that shut down and investors lost their money.

With a decentralized exchange you only have the risk of the issuer scamming you. So one risk less.

There is work in progress to set up a sort of rating service which would do background checks on asset issuers to make sure people don't buy obvious scams. Of course, there is always a risk that a startup fails, not due to scam but just incompetence or outrun by competitors or some other factors, but that's the same as in real life with any startup or stock, you take a big risk investing in a startup.

My gut tells me this might be legit.

Download the client and play around with it, then you wont have to rely on your gut, you will be able to trust your eyes Wink. Tell me your address and ill send you a few nxt.

Well Anon, I saw this and followed your advice and downloaded the client. Wow. Had to actually register here on the forum (lurked forever, never needed to say anything before now though) to state how damn nice it is. Saw the asset exchange tab, did a bit of googling and found some details (what assets are, how to use them, how to play with them) - double wow. A "stock exchange" from within the client?

Guess I need to grab some nxt to play further, asset exchange looks way too much fun. I'm guessing most alt-coin exchanges have it if it's #3 market cap? Also, what's the official forum for NXT? I've found a few.

dont understand the advantage of assett trading over next. the risk the emittent can scamm you is not solved.

so there is no innovation, its a feature that can be solved better (p.e. ethereum) or implemented to any crypto.

for me nxt is a giant marketing machinery around some developers. could work with limitations.

Very unfortunately, I missed such a great coin

You havent missed anything man. The NXT movement is just beginning.  Check out the asset exchange through http://www.nxtreporting.com.  It is a very good way to view not only the entire AE infastructure and listings, but to view your wallet, investments, profit/lost on each asset as well as any other wallet, asset and transaction ID!
There was an incredible of amount of emerging technology handshakes between multiple innovators and NXTe recent pay expo and youll find their ipos and assets listed in the exchange.   One thing that everyone forgets.. ALL alts are still infants.  Bitcoin is barely a toddler.   The amount of ground breaking innovation that NXT will achieve this year will trump the innovation of the entire existence of economy as we know it.    We've barely got going folks.  This is going to be an incredible year.
