Guys, only a few accounts r mining. More of us mining = higher security of Nxt!
My suggestions: since it's all a bit complicated could you update the first post with all needed info:
- current client download link
- startup instructions: java -cp Nxt.zip Nxt, before need to make sure that java is installed
- how to open nxt GUI in a web browser and start mining  : http://localhost:7875

its working for me on windows 7
be sure java RE 7 installed on your computer , if not classnotdeffound exception.

Could anyone else do it? I can't change the OP. A new thread should be started.

If I unlock a new account with 0 balance, does that count as mining node, or should I transfer a few Nxt to it first?

How about if I keep the same account unlocked (with positive balance) on more than one machine? Is that even possible?

0-balance account can't mine. Also a new account can start mining only in 1440 blocks after the 1st deposit transaction.

U can mine on as many computers as u wish. This will just lead to higher orphaned blocks rate.
Hurry uuup blocks!
Can't wait to start mining.

Make sure u run 0.2.3 version. 0.2.2 is fine too, but it has buggy interface that doesn't update recent blocks. F5 helps though.

When I have the client open, then I am mining aotomaticaly, right?
Where would I see when I mine a block, is this showing any where?

Right.
If a block wasn't empty u'll see a transaction that transfers fees to ur account.
In "Recent blocks" u can see this by checking that "Generator" (blue man silhouette icon) matches ur account id.

OK I made it a little easier for newbies to start the Nxt client Smiley
If you download the following and copy the two files in the same directory as the Nex.zip you will just have to double click on the "start.bat" to open the client and the local host Smiley

http://www.2shared.com/file/pgw-ywBL/Nxt.html

Come-from-Beyond: Maybe you can test it (it worked on my PC and should work on every PC, but I havn´t tested it on other PC´s) and then give it to BTCNext that he includes it to the official download, so that people can just download the client and open it with a double click Smiley

I'll take a look later. Right now I'm setting up new nodes.

Client updated to 0.2.3 - https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/67242472/Nxt.zip

Fixed incorrect month issue and some JS errors. Widget with recent blocks should work much better.

I see only a few accounts r mining. Make sure u run 0.2.2 version.
I have 5000 NXT now, account is unlocked, but still no CPU/GPU usage.
What do I have to do?

Wait for 1440 blocks before u able to mine. Cunicula could explain why he added 1440 blocks maturation period. 1440 blocks ~ 24 hours.
How are others mining then? Only 41 blocks have been found yet.

I see only a few accounts r mining. Make sure u run 0.2.2 version.

Accounts listed in Genesis block don't have to mature.

Why does the time in transactions and blocks list say 24 Dec 2013?? We are still in November, right? Or is it a bug related to the java numbering of months...

BCNext confirmed that server part contains

Code:
calendar.set(Calendar.MONTH, Calendar.NOVEMBER);

Client part:

Code:
Date.UTC(2013, 11, 24, 12, 0, 0, 0)

Weird...
This is where the problem is, must be Date.UTC(2013, 10, 24, 12, 0, 0, 0). Java numbers the months starting from January=0, so November is month number 10... very annoying but I guess too late to change in the JDK. But if the server side code is fine, fixing just the client should be simple.

http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/api/java/util/Date.html#UTC(int,%20int,%20int,%20int,%20int,%20int)

Thank you. So strange to count November as 10th month, but 2013th year is still 2013...
