On February 28, a special Education Symposium was hosted by Mike Kane MP, Shadow Minister for Schools, for Manchester Metropolitan University at the House of Commons. The aim was to stimulate a national debate on teacher education policy with academics, legislators and stakeholders in the education sector.

Open Source University was present at the symposium, given the opportunity for the platform to provide distributed learning programs with credentials verified through the blockchain. Such programs would help teachers professional education,upskilling and reskilling, given the flexibility they will provide, and the opportunities for professional development on a global scale.

I agree with you that most of the projects cannot hold. I believe there are many reasons behind this but we are going to have some major platform updates. Thus we are going to prove that OS University is not only on the right way but also has the potential to provide a global solution for Education and at the same time to bridge the gap between Businesses and Education.

Open source university it sounds wonderful to the ear, their domain choose is perfect. Education projects have never held up to this time. However, there is a very serious need. I still cannot figure out why the education projects cannot hold. Do you want everyone to be ignorant? I did not understand.

@LosPollosHermanos, thank you for the post and the opinion shared! I agree with you that it is something undone - we are really the World's First decentralized platform to store such kind of data and exclude third party companies.

After a solid research that dates back to 2015, our Project Lead came to the conclusion that still there is a great gap between Education and Businesses and the need for "digital credentials wallet" has came. At that time he didn't have in mind using blockchain - this implementation comes later with the development of the idea and the vision.

Last year, we were granted by the European Commission to continue the development of the platform in 2018. OS University uses Blockchain to register achievements and make them immutable. The European Commission says that what we do has the potential to disrupt education by removing the need for a third party (institution) to manage trust in the field of education and professional development. The team seems qualified but the project seems a bit utopic to me, especially it seemed a bit ridiculous to carry it to blockchain. Like they’ve said we have found something undone here, so let us do it.

OS University attended the University-Business Forum Sofia 2018 www.ubforum-bulgaria.eu. The discussions were related closely to the establishment of a strong connection between entrepreneurship education and business. Examples of the different types of teaching and learning were also given. The need for entrepreneurial thinking implemented in the Universities programs, establishing research centers, educating entrepreneurship and innovative thinking are a must.

Now it is time to empower students being more entrepreneurial and provide them with career path choices thus helping gain the skills and the achievements to prepare batter for their future development.

January was a very eventful and productive month for OS University - we participated in many high-profile events and also got recognized by many major organizations and media.


This is exciting news because it pushes us forward with a lot more enthusiasm and determination towards our main goal - the Alpha release. We are advancing faster than expected and planning to release it in late March. Stay tuned for updates!
