so when will registration for this be open?
Registrations will open soon! Mac Red is doing a fantastic job with the registration system. Once everything is ready I will give 24-48 hours warning of the launch. 3000 spots is a lot, but you never know ... they might go fast. Once the launch date is announced feel free to promote Kora as much as you can.
Remember, I'm just one guy, and not that smart (that's why I need smart guys like Mac Red to help me). If Kora is to succeed it WILL need the support of lots of people. Later after the launch the community will have the 'power bounties' to distribute, but right now during the registration phase we'll be relying on each other to spread the word.
I'll pay Mac Red for his work on the registration system, and then I'll distribute the Kora tokens on the NXT AE. After that I'm hoping people with time & skills & passion will step up and start 'doing things' to make Kora a success. Kora is decentralised from NOW. I'm just the guy flicking the switch, I'm not the leader
I think the 'power bounties' will be crucial. My big criticism of IPO's like NXT and Qora is they favour people with bitcoins who could invest. That cuts out a lot of people though - people from countries with low exchange rates, students, younger people ... poor people!
Kora is an experiment (like all crypto), and I want to see if we can bootstrap a coin that attracts talented passionate people, even though nobody will have paid anything to get their original stake. Many die-hard bitcoin people would say this is impossible, and that one of the functions of POW is to infuse bitcoins with 'value', as the miners have expended resources to get them (hardware, electricity).
Many think that coins given away for free are not valued enough, and people will dump asap for a quick profit. I think there is some evidence to show this *can* be true after 200+ bitcoin clones, but Kora will be the
first Qora clone, and Qora is obviously a wonderful piece of software, and crucially, I think the power bounties can do for Kora what the 8 "whole bitcoin senders" did for NXT.
Undoubtedly the 8 people who sent ~1 bitcoin into NXT (and received ~5% stake) are hugely responsible for making NXT what it is. They were/are obviously motivated to do what it takes to see their 5% stake in NXT increase in value, and what they do behind the scenes is obviously working. NXT is by far the most developed coin after bitcoin, and it's all been 100% decentralised!
The 'power bounties' can be a merit based equivalent of those "whole bitcoin sender stakes" in NXT. That is my hope anyway. I don't think 1/3000th share of Kora will motivate people to make Kora a top 10 coin, but 2-5% "power bounties" can, especially for people who could not even imagine paying ~600 USD for 1 bitcoin to invest in an IPO like NXT or Qora.
I believe Kora can succeed if those that do the most to support Kora are paid the 'power bounties', and it will be the community who decide who gets them, not me, I'll be gone by then. That is my hope anyway!
We're getting close, so remember this is a brain storming thread, and I'm always open to ideas
