Hello, I have been running several pools for a while, mostly for my own miners and some friends.

I am making my pools available to anyone now.

There's a 1/4 of 1% (0.25%) fee, substantially smaller than most other pools.

Running MPOS over Coinium stratum server.

If anyone wishes to join the pool, go to:

orbitcoin.artbatista.com

Cheers

That's an excellent news to see the 2nd payment processor supporting Orbitcoin. Thanks, Mario!

I have advised you previously to split large inputs into a few addresses for staking. It's much faster.

The average staking period depends on the network difficulty and time spent online by your wallet. You can check with a block explorer for particular input values and calculate the average.

If you don't interfere with the splitting & combining process, your wallet should have inputs of average size (50 + 25) / 2 = 37.5 ORB. Let's assume they stake in 10 days. That's about 100% interest per year without any compound. It's going to be higher because this average input will be split at some point at least once and continue to stake independently.

I see. Good luck with your pools. Never stop learning. "Once you stop learning, you start dying" (c) Einstein Smiley

I don't know if I ever mentioned this before, but this is what I was talking about when I was having issues with breaking the coin into blocks.

I was trying to break the coin into 20.1 ORB sized blocks. I noticed transaction fees, which is why I added the 0.1 ORB at the end.

Trying to rapidly break them down as I've done in other coins, I get this message:

"Error: The transaction was rejected. This might happen if some of the coins in your wallet were already spent, such as if you used a copy of wallet.dat and coins were spent in the copy but not marked as spent here."

I also noticed that for the blocks that did stake, the 1 ORB was added back to the block.

Now, I recall blocks smaller than 50 ORB will not split upon stake. I think stake is set at 9 for min age (is this in the OP?). That's 40.58 stake periods a year. 1/20 = 5%, so 203% per year. However, if it stakes at 1/50 = 2%, that's 81% per year. That's a wide range. Do blocks of size 50 and below combine for stakes in a way to optimize towards 203% vs the latter? Like say I have 10 blocks of 50 ORB. That's 500 ORB. Is the wallet "smart" and will try to stake that as 25 blocks of 20 ORB, or am I giving up a lot of stake?

What assurance do I have that, over several stake periods, I am closer to 203% vs 81%? If you break down to 20.1 ORB blocks and start staking, then your rate starts going down on every stake period as that block becomes larger and closer to 50 ORB. However, at 50.00000001 ORB, does it then split to 2 blocks of ~25 ORB, and then the declining interest rate continues again until it hits 50+ ORB?

There are no transaction fees for mature non-oversized inputs. Even if you pay something like 0.001 ORB, it goes straight to the miner of this new block. HBN, CAP, TEK and other high PoS coins always charge transaction fees and destroy them all.

The minimal staking age is 5 days for ORB. Small inputs (less than 20 ORB) need to get combined in order to stake. Large inputs (more than 50 ORB) get split in the process. Of course, you can manage your inputs manually after staking like splitting 21 into 20 + 1 and merging the latter parts into new large inputs 20 ORB each. Some people do. It's time consuming, also doesn't give much actual advantage because larger inputs stake faster than smaller ones. It will be irrelevant some day with the PoS difficulty rising and 20 ORB inputs hitting maximal age (20 days) unstaked more and more often.

Semi-Private now as I go through the learning curve ...

I've never, and few have, been a pool operator. I don't know of any books or classes to take.  Smiley  I'm still learning the system, database structure and problems that arise and how to deal with them.  Bitcoin (alts) have been a hobby of mine and it's something I've wanted to do for a long time. I finally got around to setting something up using NOMP and MPOS.

To put a public pool online ... I'd like to have proper hosting, separate systems for daemons, databases, stratum and the front-end web. All with proper security....  I'm currently using a few virtual machines to learn the ins and outs on a residential class Internet provider.

If anyone would like to mine Orbitcoin, Graincoin, Gamecoin, Fireflycoin, Teacoin or Zetacoin and can accept the learning curve of the operator. Send me a PM.  I only ask you to set your payout threshold low and don't leave a large balance.

At this time ...  Nothing unique to offer...  Sorry.

I have setup a semi-private NOMP/MPOS ORB pool.  Looking for test users.

PM if interested.

Why a semi-private? There are a few ORB pools around already, and it isn't a difficult task to set up a pool for a Scrypt coin. Has your pool got any unique features/advantages?

That's self-explanatory: your file system has got corrupted for whatever reason. Restore from a back-up or download data.7z (https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/929-orbitcoin-orb-information).
