Hope that PMP will continue to deliver quality updates not like any other coins that when things get tough the dev will be the first one to abandoned the  ship.

The cryptocurrency market is a tough place, but I'm a firm believer that it's those who are left standing at the end who will reap the biggest rewards.

Amen, there are many devs that get discouraged and quit. Nothing is ever over until the community and the dev lose faith. lucky for us we have both

I started out just like most people. Heard about Bitcoin, got into mining, then it all just went from there. I decided to take the reigns of PMP because it fits in with my programming and development skill set, and my genuine interest in exploring how cryptocurrency can be used.

I think if you go into cyptocurrency development with the sole aim to make money, then that's why most developers don't support their coins for very long. If you go into it with a genuine interest in what you're doing, then everything else becomes secondary to that. I want PMP to become something special, but my motivations are not financial. They're technical. I want the satisfaction of creating something worthwhile and valued.

Yep totally agree with you there. When you build something with money as the main motivator chances are real innovation/breakthrough will elude you. When you do it out of genuine curiosity/interest that's when your mind is at its sharpest. Like when you're a kid encountering something for the first time and it blows your mind. That kind of energy is far more enduring  Smiley

We have some big ideas for PMP, but they take time to implement. It's not just about the currency itself. People are very focused on coin features, but not as much on what you can actually do with the currency. Currency is worthless if you can't spend it or use it in innovative ways. So to build infrastructure like that takes time and careful planning to make sure it is robust and flexible.

Yes, I agree. Having currency without practical use is worthless and coin just becomes another pump and dump.

This is why we have so many coins, but so few that are actually valuable long-term. The ones that are tend to offer either a built in feature that makes it seem inherently valuable, or offers services that make it a viable currency. As most altcoins are built on bitcoind, you'll find that altcoins that gain value without needing additional features can have services easily made available, as a system built for one bitcoind-based coin is extremely simple to adapt to another. Hence why we have coin services like exchanges, block explorers, gambling sites, currency payment gateways, and so on. All of which can host multiple coins.

The problem with this is that if your coin is heavily dependent on being listed via those services, and with so many altcoins out there, unless you buy your way onto them, vote your way onto them, or are otherwise listed for your coin's perceived uniqueness, then you won't get anywhere. This allows heavily manipulation, as you could easily create pump and dump currencies by buying your way onto these services.

It's a catch-22. You want your altcoin to be used, so it needs services, but to get services, it needs to be used. This is why we get pump and dumps. Gimmicks are perceived as features, and so coins get "used" (by this I mean bought/sold), and this then gets the services. But then the coin gets dumped, because gimmicks are not features that hold long term investment value. A lot of the features touted by such coins aren't even really needed. The community doesn't need them. The community just thinks these features gives the coin more value. The features that really are useful and in high demand, are the ones you'll see in coins that have the highest market caps.

Think in terms of platforms, not features.
