Update: Qora opened up finally. 1st I had no connections. Then I closed and could not run again unless I deleted data files again. Qora up and is in sync'ing or so it says. How long does it normally take and will have to keep on deleting data files to open up each time ?

It should sync in a couple minutes.

Regarding the need to delete data files, here's what I've observed...if the wallet is 100% in sync with the network and you exit the client, it shuts down everything correctly.  If the wallet is out of sync in any way and you exit, it will throw an error and you will need to delete the data folder to restart.

The client syncs so quickly now this is just a minor issue until the dev get its corrected.

Tried reboot. Tried new batch file. I can see cmd.window with errors for about 1/2 sec. I know the problem is NOT 'no java'. Can someone help me run Qora directly from cmd[dos] so I can post the errors. I will continue to try in the interim

Thanks for the clarification. I changed to the correct path for my 32bit Win 7 system. I also use the " "quotations. Is that correct?. I seemed to get to a 2nd stage where it now asked me for access to my network[ like what happens when you do a fresh altcoin - qt wallet install).  Smiley I thought it was going to work from their but still...nothing happens after that  Undecided

My path was for 64 bit make sure you put your local path.

I tried changing the path in the bat file. Didnt work. How do I start with the run command so I can see whats the problem ?

Hello

You should start the bat file from the command line starting it with mouse click
will close the command line window is something is wrong.

Try the following:
1) go to start -> run
2) type cmd into to text box and press enter
3) in the window that opens type
cd "path to the qory directory" and press enter
if the directory  is on different disk then type D: or the volume name and press enter
to change the volume in the command line.
4) now when you are in the qora directory type run.bat and press enter

you should see the output in the command line and the window will not close
even if there is any error

I hope you manage.

I have latest Java, was hitting the qora.jar file before
I hit the run.bat file and the cmd window opened for about 5 secs with some commands executing....then nothing  Undecided

Downloaded. unzipped. Executed. Nothing happens. Im am Windows 7 starter. First time this happened with a wallet of any sort. Any issues I should be aware of ?

And make sure you hit the run.bat rather than the qora.jar. You got to have JAVA installed though Smiley

Is it a fresh install? And if yes, try and execute it from run..>cmd (hone the dos skills) so you can take a screenshot of what is going wrong, and post it.

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre7\bin\java.exe" -Xmx256m -Djava.library.path=libs/native -jar Qora.jar

Edit the run.bat and put in the full path to the java.

See if that helps.

are you working full time on QORA?

Dev has been working on this for months already before the announcement was made, and he is developing like mad even though he is on his own (according to himself) Smiley. Perhaps he does have a day time job, in which case his schedule would be 8 hours of job, 8 hours of QORA and 8 hours of sleep. I seen 10+ member dev teams on these boards that got less stuff done than this guy. Qora dev is a beast.

Just a thought...What if we focus on the user friendliness of Qora? As far as I can tell one of the biggest turn off for non crypto people is that you gotta type in some weird numbers to log into your account. Can we think of a secure way for people to log into their wallets with their emails. I know that would make a big difference to a lot of my non crypto friends, interms of user friendliness...

Think that's called 'single point of failure'. Somebody hacks into your email, steals your money. The seed, or 'weird numbers', don't have to be saved in your email, or on your computer. Write them down on a piece of paper, and you're safe. Somebody might hack your email, break into your house or your laptop catches fire: you're safe. And as said, if you're an average user you'll seldomly need the seed to recover your account. It will be mostly us, trying to crash to software on purpose in order to help the dev, who'll need to recover from seed more often.
