So what was the fork for? Just updating to later code base shouldn't require a fork should it?

Cryptsy being reluctant to update to the latest fork, is just annoying. Why do they keep us waiting?

When was the hard fork? And what did it do? What was the purpose of the fork?
I can't see any easy to find discussion on it.
Around October 5th with the release of 0.9.2.6

Unless I am mistaken, the Quark client regularly prunes the blockchain to keep it fast. Anyone that knows their way around github could audit the changes and make sure that is the only adjustment though

After my thoughtful and inspiring submission to the Quark reddit was quashed, while other posts encouraging people to abandon their Quarks were approved there, I think I have unravelled the mystery.

This hard fork was no doubt a devious move implemented by those I will now refer to as, the 'Dark Quarkers'.

These 'Dark Quarkers' have assumed control of what little infrastructure is left to Quark, and hatched a sinister plan to let the coin languish without any visible community support throughout the year of 2015. It is likely this plan was hatched well over a year ago.

Right on schedule, a hard fork was issued in the hopes that a few remaining faithful would, as if by habit and little else, update to a version of Quark intended only to make the original Quarkcoin much rarer.

These 'Dark Quarkers' have insider information about when security flaws will be revealed in Bitcoin, meaning investors will be rushing to move their investment to another coin!

However if you have foolishly updated your Quark clients, do not think that you shall share the spoils of Quark's come from behind win.

Only if your Quark client reads 'No block source available..' do you have the greatest crypto asset the world shall ever know!

Embrace the light Quark brothers, if it is not too late..

 Cool

I like your thinking/conspiracy! But need to see something to back this up, have a quark wallet version "quarkcoin083r2linux", is it worth upgrading or just leaving?
Almost forgot about these, been away for awhile. Was hoping to see them ON the moon or at least on the launch pad by now.  Cry

Good news. Quark explorer http://qrk.blockr.io/ is now on the correct Quark fork ! Now,all major Quark explorers are on the right fork!

There are now 2 things to be done:

1. Cryptsy to fix Quark wallet.(They were always on the correct fork and they need just to update from 0.9.2.5 to 0.9.2.6)

2. Mac users need 0.9.2.6 wallet too. There were no Quark updates for Mac users from 0.8.23

what about bter?

EDIT: ok, ive already red that bter is on correct chain

Hi Quark community.
MUE would not exist without Quark, so this is NOT an anti-Quark post.

I am trying to gauge potential interest in a Quark > MUE exchange program.

Essentially, interested users would send their Quark in exchange for MUE.
We would give you an above market price for your Quark, and by above market, I mean significantly above market.
Quark is currently at about 600 sats, I was thinking an initial promo of about 2400 sats i.e 4 x current value.
This would be a promotional "first come first served" period for a fixed amount.  Subsequent offers would be tiered downwards, whilst still providing fantastic value for money.

There are plenty more details should there be any interest.

To find out more about MUE please visit our ANN thread

Thanks! Smiley

I have 156 QUARK, Is this possible to exchange with your MUE? 2400 sat/ 1 QRK? right?
Hi, it will probably be closer to 2000 sats but let me have a think, and I'll get back to you.
Thanks for reaching out, hopefully we can start this exchange programme, I just want to check my numbers first.
Thanks
