Dear SativaCoin community,

I hereby announce the takeover of SativaCoin by Altcoin.Center.

What this means is that Altcoin.Center will:

- Provide upgraded wallets compiled against current non-vulnerable versions of the OpenSSL library. No new functionality will be added at this point; this is just an initial "emergency" update to eliminate the risks related to the buggy versions of OpenSSL.

- Initiate the search for a developer who is able and willing to take charge of technical development of STV

- Manage the strategical planning and overall coordination of the non-technical side of Sativa development, i.e. branding, partnership deals etc.

- Generally look after the coin doing our best to give it a long, stable and prosperous life.

For starters we have already added SativaCoin to the Altcoin.Center addseed network. The network currently has four DDoS protected nodes; two in Europe, two in Northern America. More nodes are to be added shortly. The task of the nodes is to provide a permanent high availability block source for GANJA as well as other coins "protected" by us.

The seed servers can be reached at the following addresses:

addnode=seeds.altcoin.center
addnode=seeds.altcoincenter.eu
addnode=seeds.altcoincenter.us

More info will be made available soon.

Anything going on with this coin?

Yeah, although nothing too visible for the time being. We're looking for people able and willing to participate in the further development of Sativa, and will make sure things stay on track while the search is on.

It's an interesting situation in the hemp related coin scene. Potcoin is perceived as "too official" by many (perhaps even yours truly;), Cannabiscoin and Cannacoin appear to be at war with each other (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.9648814), The Hemp Coin is doing ok but the trade volumes have been rather low lately, while Ganja's developers have apparently disappeared (http://alt.report/altcoins/item/263-ganja-ganja-coin-anonymous-ico-developers-have-disappeared).

Dope just upgraded to version 3 and turned PoS. I'm involved in Dope development so it's easy to doubt my objectiveness, but I do say that both the Dope core developers and the community are very active and I'm confident Dope will stand it's ground firmly.

It appears to me like there's lots of room for Sativa to flourish with Dope. Although I can't yet tell exactly what it is, I know there's a niche where none of the other 420 coins have tapped to. We'll get back to that as soon as the new Sativa development team is set to go.

EDIT: As for CannabisDarkcoin, the block chain has forked several times. I've been trying to reach couple of exchanges and the Suprnova CND pool team in order to locate the chain with the most work behind it, but they haven't replied my contact requests. And, naturally, the developer has disappeared.

Dear Sativacoin fans,

I'm happy to inform you that STV has been added to our addnode seed network.

If you have trouble getting your wallet synchronized, just put addnode=seeds.altcoin.center to sativacoin.conf

Currently we have four DDoS protected nodes; two in Europe, one in the US and one in Canada.

Many more nodes will be added in the upcoming weeks and months; the coverage will be world-wide.

There's much more to come - the network is going to provide much more than just seeds.

We're still at a testing phase which is why I'm providing the service to you free of charge for the next two weeks.

Donations are welcome and much appreciated. Everything you send to 1Aj9SntkxxaZVrMs5mwQLRCXaKCporoDex will be used to extend the service for Sativacoin.

Starting next week you can also donate by simply mining at our extremely efficient and secure pool; the 1% fee will be channeled directly to maintaining the service.

This is still sort of hush-hush information at this point, so even though this is a very public forum, I'd appreciate it if you don't make too much noise just yet; I wish to have all the systems fully configured before going fully public about what's going on and what is going to come... Wink

Everyone loves to rush into things with this crypto stuff. I just bought 10,000 STV for your dev to compiled the new wallets with the heart bleed fix.

Agreed all will fall into place soon enough. I will also match that 10,000 STV to help move things along  Wink

Wonderful! =)

I too have something nice on the way - not STV (don't have it much yet;) but more interesting news regarding the seed network that will help support STV.

If our dev guru won't be back online until I'm finished with what I'm building right now, then I'll take on compiling the new wallets myself. Haven't done any C++ for about ten years so it would be about the time to get myself back on track with that anyways. Wink

I'll ask our extremely capable lead developer if he would have the time to handle this one. A small bounty from the Sativa community might provide some extra motivation. Wink

Unfortunately our dev guru is suffering from a flu and won't be able to assist with the recompiling for a while.

I'll see what I can do myself meanwhile.

Some interesting developments are taking place behind the scenes - stay tuned for more news!

Basically the only rather urgent issue is that the SSL library version (1.0.1g) against which the wallets is linked to has several vulnerabilities to it.

Ah, sorry: the (Windows) wallet is linked against OpenSSL 1.0.1h. That version is vulnerable as well, though. It needs to be upgraded to the current one which is 1.0.1j.

The daemons running on the Altcoin.Center seed nodes are compiled with the latest OpenSSL so they are ok, but all the precompiled wallets need an update.

Thank you so much, fartbags!

Things have progressed significantly and I'm very close to launching some pretty cool that will benefit any and all altcoins who decide to hop in.

I'll keep you informed of the developments.

Sativacoin code is nice and clean so it's really easy for anyone with the motivation to take a catch of it.

While waiting for someone capable of giving this great little coin the kind of treatment it deserves to turn up, I'll give my guarantee that all necessary upgrades can and will be done to it by Altcoin.Center.

Basically the only rather urgent issue is that the SSL library version (1.0.1g) against which the wallets is linked to has several vulnerabilities to it. The wallet code itself doesn't need any upgrades to fix this - it just needs to be recompiled against the latest OpenSSL libraries.

This is a quality no Pre-mine, no ICO (ICO = premine) and fair launched coin. The cheap price of this coin allows anyone to get in at fair market value. I don't see anything wrong with this coin.

I wouldn't mind a new forum thread that isn't moderated.

Hey Jyri,

You're the best. I will recommend your services to other coins once you are more set up with everything. I will be donating to your STV coin address. I just want to try and anonymize my bitcoins before I send them to you. Anonymizing my bitcoins is something I want to learn to do.

Now that there's a working addnode this coin can live forever unless there is a bug found in the standard POS code that all these coins use. If anyone wants the code to try and take over this coin it's here:

Update on the Altcoin.Center addnode seed network:

We now have three separate high availability DNS delivery systems available.

No block source available will soon be history - at least for some coins. Wink

The one service I have heard of before is http://altcoin.center/

What exactly does the Altcoin.Center hosting package include?

Our hassle free altcoin hosting solution consists the following services:

- Coin web site with unlimited traffic, web wallet and block explorer; all with SSL encryption
- Dedicated mining pool with continuous guaranteed minimum hashrate
- Stable blockchain source; good bye "no block source available" problems
- Inclusion of all hosted coins to our fast and secure exchange*
- Altcoin SMS Store allowing users to purchase coins via SMS in 70+ countries*
- Automated backups, 24/7 monitoring of all of the services
- Very high level security, DDoS & hacking protection

How much does the altcoin hosting package cost?

Our hosting packages start at only 0.03 BTC per month.
Please contact [email protected] for details.

That kind of service is exactly what a coin like this needs.

That looks amazing. I'm in for 0.03 BTC. I wonder if they would be into a 1 year deal for STV instead of BTC.

You can count me in too!  Smiley
