Distributed storage is great, and the planning and design concept of this project is pretty good. Read the technical roadmap, see the market space, optimistic about the development team of investors can see, buy a batch of buried, etc. it brings you bright spots
Do you guys know a way to make the windows client sync faster? Maybe I'm missing an update or maybe I can make it accept more connections? I don't open my wallet that often but let it sync every now and then.
I have the same thing, takes really..... really long to syncThe initial sync of the blockchain takes very long if you are using a HDD. On a SSD it takes less than 8 hours.
You can greatly accelerate the process by manually downloading an updated image of the blockchain (AKA bootstrapping). Check the instructions here: https://siawiki.tech/daemon/bootstrapping_the_blockchain
I find myself having a couple of hundreds of free gigabytes. It would be incredible if I could get something by lending it!

What Sia projects need to do is to implement distributed network storage, which is a very good idea. Give full play to resource conservation, so that unused bandwidth and storage are fully utilized. SIA is more inclined to store large files, and it should be gradually popularized and applied to real life in the future

Wow!! I just backed up 500Gb to SIA without a hitch .. This SIA is alright in my books.
I'm going to be using this as my archive from now on and I'll backup my 300,000 mp3s next :-)
Once feature that will be welcomed is the ability to back up folders and not just files (but i suspect this will be added in the future).
This is an awesome usable project with a good future. if you are holding SIA use the SIA app to back up your data,it works very well.

Just take in mind three things:
- The chunk size of files uploaded to Sia is 40MB. This means that if you upload a file smaller than that, Sia will consider it still 40MB. If you plan to upload thousands of MP3 files that can be problematic because your allowance will get exhausted faster. In general Sia treats better a small number of big files than a huge number of tiny ones. So maybe you can try to compress those files in zip folders before uploading then!
- Keep frequent backups of the metadata folders (in Mac located at $HOME/Library/Application Support/Sia-UI/sia/ , in Windows at Users\
- Open the Sia and unlock the wallet every once in a while (at least once every 4-6 weeks) so the client request the auto-renewal of contracts with your hosts. The contracts are 3 months long, and your client will issue renewal requests after the 6th week
And of course... Enjoy the cheapest cloud storage solution you will find out there!!! No one can beat $1 per Terabyte and month
