Perhaps the low adoption of users and low usage of available storage is the reason for SC dropping. I have not tested Sia from a end user perspective, but if it is not super easy to buy storage as an end user, they will not attract private users who I think is a great market.

Why is the price so dive? Is the project no longer developed?

I did not expect the price of Siacoin will ever drop to such a level. Does this mean that the developers have stopped working on the project?

No. It's more active than ever. They have a community manager now and have hired a new developer.

Community members are making things such as a new low fee pool which donates to devs (luxor). A lite wallet, blockchain explorer, duplicati integration, minio integration, siaCDN, etc.

RC3 of the new version is either out or is being worked on. I know that RC2 is finished.

They have sold around 2000 asic mining units which are shopping next year.

Check out their discord channels. They don't post much here.

The reason that it's down so much in regards to btc ratio is that btc is so high. simple math. when btc drops, sia will go back up in satoshi value.

Now the Bitcoin price is falling, and Sia unfortunately stands still. I hope everything you mentioned will be successfully implemented and we will see stable long-term growth.

ECC is too late to the game.  Sia is already fully functional, on major exchanges and has tons of miners, disk leasers and users.

I've got 10 extra SiaFunds to sell.  PM me serious offers.

So, it's too late for Filecoin too?

Being new to cryptocurrency, I can see the value/market for sia. I’m thinking of going into sia, and it seems like most people (at least in this thread) would like to get in now instead of 2-4 months ago. Do you still recommend sia as an investment for 2-3 years?

The price is about 0.36 cents. it could go lower still, but this is a good entry level if you want to invest, compared to when.most bought in.

Today I have realized that my decision to invest in SiaCoin was wrong.
I mean my entry point was the mistake. Unfortunately, my biggest investment ever was in SiaCoin.

I realized when I checked my portfolio today after long time.
-89% is the lose currently I am digesting.  Sad
I am not getting any hope in price increase sooner.  Cry

Btw what is SiaFund? Is it anything new?

That is why you should spread your holding among 7+ or so coins. I am holding ~20 Most are down in the last month, but a few are holding strong. I would always keep at least 10% in BTC.

I bought SIA at 380 sat
regretting myself. but hodl this coin and wont sell for loss
even if it takes months

You are not alone, I bought it when it was twice more expensive and didn't sell when it started to fall, so to sell now what can be worse? Despite the fact that I do regret that i bought it so expensive, if I could I woudn't do it in July but better now...but  unfortunately no time machine..

@vortexz
My buying price was 584sats. I think I bought Sia in a pump. I took very quick decision which is also a mistake.

You can see now that I am totally f***ed up. I can't even put new investments into this coin to make my average low.
Because it will take huge investment to make it good average, which I currently don't have.

At this moment I have nothing to do, except to wait for the price rise. But price will not increase sooner that's for sure.

"even moths". Sounds like someone spoiled with fast winnings Cheesy
In these opaquely crypto times good projects get overlooked. But when the shitcoins begin to fall down, projects like Sia will rise.

I want to buy SiaFunds where can I find them and how much?

Check either on the Discord of Sia in the #siafunds channel for OTC trading or on Bisq (https://market.bisq.io/?market=sf_btc).They have been trading for 2-3BTC in the last months

Do you guys know a way to make the windows client sync faster? Maybe I'm missing an update or maybe I can make it accept more connections? I don't open my wallet that often but let it sync every now and then.

Try with a manual download, AKA bootstrapping: https://siawiki.tech/daemon/bootstrapping_the_blockchain

Huh Any new news on Sia? Can you also stake sia in the wallet?!  Huh

Update from yesterday: https://blog.sia.tech/sia-community-update-october-ecf673f41e96 . As they have already answered you, Sia is not Proof of Stake, it is Proof of Work. More info about why here: https://siawiki.tech/about/pow_vs_pos

Thanks for the information, was and interesting read.
This is amazing that there are such community members who can create things,  special thanks to a guy who developed a website called SiaStats. Helpful  resource for seeing a variety of info from the Sia network like the number of daily transactions, total number of contracts, and more.Recommend to check.

I think it was Hakkane himself you developed SiaStats. Props to him. It's a very interesting, informative and good looking website. I think there are quite many statistic lovers behind us who really appreciate sites like this.

Really? Hakkane himself? Why do you think so? I totally agree with you, very good resource, I wish most project had the same, so I'm really waiting for the moment when Sia will show real price, as not I think it is very underestimated.

Yes, I checked it. He wrote following comment some days ago. As far as I know he isn't even a dev or isn't associated with the dev team in any other way. Just a fan of the product Tongue

It is a big pleasure for me to introduce you the result of my efforts during the last weeks - https://siastats.info , a website full of charts, tables and metrics about the Sia network. Mining pools distribution, file contracts number, cost and size, average pricing of storage, transactions volume, indexes of hosts centralization… I created it for the community to have a tool for monitoring the health of Sia and for Sia-related companies or individuals that need charts to promote the use and adoption of Sia. Charts can be used without any restriction for any purpose (please just cite the source).

As you'll see, there are plenty of interesting parameters in Sia aside the market value. I encourage you checking the increase in the number of daily contracts (https://siastats.info/new_contracts.html) or the current average pricing for storing data in Sia (https://siastats.info/storage_pricing.html) (no competence can offer these pricing).

During the next weeks I’ll keep making improvements in the design, usability (right now it is not mobile-friendly) and I’ll add more contents. Please feel free to share it around and making comments!

Heh, nice, thank you for the information, quite interesting, that a person who is totally not connected to team and not dev is doing such great job, amazing. I'm impressed.
