Mining is still comfortable with single CPU, got block every 5-7 min on my i7 4770k and already have 608 Skeincoins.

open debug console and type 'getmininginfo', current status:

You don't need conf file, just type setgenerate true -1 in wallet's  console

You have to manually create the skeincoin.conf file.

how did you mine so many, may i ask? i have only been able to mine one block after about 20 seconds, then i was not able to mine more for a long time

how is the new algorithm energy efficient?

It is energy efficient in the sense that it requires much fewer operations to calculate than say Scrypt or the Quark hash.

It is not meant to be difficult to implement in other hardware like GPUs, FPGAs or ASICs.
