Update: The SmileyCoin will hard fork at block 525000, around June 27.

The Linux code update is available on github.

Please remember to back up your wallet.dat file before installing the new code.

A macOS version has been compiled and is about to be uploaded.

Any volunteers to help with the compilation for Windows?

Coinomi will update their wallet.

The HTML5 wallet should need no updating.

macOS binary is here:   https://github.com/tutor-web/smileyCoin/releases/download/v2.2/Smileycoin-Qt.dmg
we need a volunteer or two to test it out...
remember to back up wallet.dat first!

Windows binary is here: https://github.com/tutor-web/smileyCoin/releases/download/v2.2/smileycoin-qt.exe

IMPORTANT

The Smileycoin hard fork is coming up in about 20 days. We started this process last year by fixing the code and setting the block where this is to be activated. The last few months have seen a lot of testing but this should all be ready to go.

Linux users: Please report any errors right here...

Fork in 9.6 days!!

There are now a bit too many fora for SMLY  - thing get a bit lost  Smiley

Remember the 45% of the coinbase which goes to the charity? Now we're leaning towards sharing this with other charities in the same "business" -educational tech and applications in low - income regions.

The obvious first choice is the African Maths Initiative.

This income comes in 10 income streams.  So we should focus on one at a time. We could try to give an entire stream to a large non - profit like the Malala Fund or UNICEF. But we can also split one, eg give 1/2 stream to AMI.

Consider AMI a done deal. Paperwork is needed and we need a bot to do the work - automate the transfers. But this is easy.

We've also talked a lot about UBI - Universal Basic Income.

That is a really cool concept. Take a look at the video:
https://twitter.com/SmileycoinNews/status/1132127161891074048?s=19

We should just do this. Mostly use the transaction fee but make it easier with one income stream?

First test should be done in a reasonably controlled setting. A classroom Smiley

After a formal signing ceremony we have a Board mandate document signed by all the parties who hold private keys to sign withdrawals from the SmileyCoinFund!

The University of Iceland has sent out a newsflash describing how UI backs the SmileyCoin with this signature.

There is no longer any premine. Everything from those addresses has been moved to one multisig address.

There is a SmileyCoinFund whose Board accepts applications from  projects which qualify. Check the rich list!

The link (in Icelandic): https://www.hi.is/frettir/haskolinn_bakhjarl_broskallarafmyntar

Let me know if you want the English translation pasted in here - it's a bit long and you can find it in the Telegram channel at https://web.telegram.org/SmileyCoinInternational#/im?p=@SmileyCoinInternational

Quick status report on the SmileyCoinFund:

You will recall the discussion about setting up a formal fund to replace the premine. This is now almost done.

  • A multisig address has been set up, tested in every possible way
  • The premine is being allocated to this address
  • A Board has been proposed for the Fund
  • A formal mandate has been proposed for the Board.

The only thing really remaining is for the Board to formally sign the mandate document. After that the premine will be completely replaced by the SmileyCoinFund which accepts applications to specific projects such as funding rewards to students in the the tutor-web.

To track this, just look at the rich list.

Are you using an ASIC? Otherwise use one of the CPU-friendly algos like skein, qubit etc

Do you have a miner you recommend? I'm having trouble finding one that has skein and/or qubit and also supports solo CPU mining
Either use an ASIC or use one of the CPU-friendly algorithms -- don't mix the two.

With the CPU, you're looking at mining using Skein, Groestl or Qubit -- see earlier in this thread -- https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.30339131

With an ASIC you would normally mine using SHA or SCRYPT -- see earlier in this thread -- https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.30195287

I've no idea what people are doing regarding GPUs for SMLY.

I'll try that when I get home, thanks.

Just to be clear though, no one is using a pool at all?

Correct. There is no pool as far as I know.

The pools can not handle the coinbase split.

The only pool software which may work is in the Smileycoin github repository. I'm not aware of anyone using it atm. It's freely available though and if you want to try then that's fine - but no guarantees Smiley

Hmm. Which algo are you using?

The NOMP doesn't mean anything -- everything is listed as NOMP.

Scrypt

Hashrate: 24 kHs/s

Where can I go to find the mining pool?
You don't need to use a pool - solo mining works fine - see above for directions.

I am solo mining, it doesn't seem like I have much chance of finding a block on my own though. Looking at the block explorer I see NOMP is being used for pretty much 100% of the blocks found so I was just assuming that meant there was a pool I could join.
