this: http://www.nasdaq.com/article/has-this-ethereum-classic-developer-solved-proof-of-stake-cm738269

makes for an interesting read, on the Ouroboros POS protocols developed by someone working with Ethereum Classic, which differs from Casper in a lot of ways, and may present a smoother and more rapid path for SOIL to switch to Proof of Stake, which i think is the focus of cryptocurrency right now, although id love to have a hybrid POW=POS system implemented, but i wlso want a pony. and world peace. (chuckles) ive been reading the material on the IOHK website, and in their github repos and it looks to be a very decent approach to POS on the EVM.

hi guys any news from Cryptopia or Bittrex

our cryptopia balance presently sits at about 550,000 DOT, so we're over 25% of the way to the listing price. i do have some things ready to get put online in the marketplace, spoon rings and old nhl hockey cards from the 50s, to hopefully help get us towards that magical 2 million DOT mark. thank you to any and evryone who has sent in donations (BTC or DOT) to our soilcoinfund account on cryptopia.

with bittrex, nothings really changed. still simply waiting, in the same boat as a lot of other currencies. i fairly friendly with the folks behind poswallet, been staking a lot of my POS coins there, and theyve had the same frustrating wait and lack of replies from julian, but he is only one man and has his own projects to look after as well. perhaps bittrex needs a fulltime currency co-ordinator that can COMMIT the time to new coin listings, but we take what we can get.

ive been trying to think out of ht ebox as much as possible in order to gain this market some liquidity. i feel personally responsible (although thru events out of my control) that my absence caused such a drop in volume and delisting from bittrex, so ive been MORE than vigilant with trying to reopen our markets. possibly bordering on the pestery. thank you all for your patience, finding markets has never been easy for SOILcoin for some reason, but we persevere.

Is the new version actually 100% stable, or is it causing any problems?
From my humble experience this might depend on your environment. For me it crashed randomly on a Raspberry Pi 3 with Arch Linux, but applying this patch helped. On the other hand it's stable on a different machine (x86 64bit) with Debian.

Is the linux installation straightforward?
Yes. I've done this on the Debian machine and it worked flawlessly:

Code:
// removed the old source
rm -r go-soil
// installed latest Go, check https://golang.org/dl/ for the right package
mkdir ~/bin
cd ~/bin
wget https://storage.googleapis.com/golang/go1.8.1.linux-amd64.tar.gz
tar -C /usr/local -xzf go1.8.1.linux-amd64.tar.gz
export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/go/bin
cd ..
// installed go-soil
git clone https://github.com/martymcfly2015/go-soil.git
cd go-soil
make gsoil
cp build/bin/gsoil /usr/local/bin/
cd ..
// run gsoil as you prefer, e.g.
gsoil ~/soil.log 2>&1 &

Can I keep my chain http://178.62.133.174:9001/#/chain/ , and will it update automatically, or shall I better redownload the whole chain? That would take a while I guess.
Both ways worked for me. On a fresh install the download took less than a day.

To calculate the exact supply (see same page), I need to know any reward changes. The last one happened in or after block 2,000,100 - right? Is there a table somewhere with all the reward changes since genesis, to double check?
For all changes you might check the source here. The latest change is HardFork4, line 38.

Once I am on it, I want to directly configure the eth-net-intelligence client. Where is the current site? This https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.18089773 or this https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.18089805 or where?  Perhaps someone make a shortlist with all related SOIL resources?
The first one worked for me.

Cheers! Smiley

ABEESOIL block explorer -->  http://178.62.133.174:9001

Hi guys, huge apologies for the long pause, but (a) I was really busy, and (b) rather depressed about all the losses I had with believing in SOIL too long ... hodling until my stack of coins was worth nothing, and (c) that I then panic sold, just before bittrex closed the market.

So ... I do not have much SOIL left - and thus little selfish motivation :-)
If anyone wants to sell some SOIL to me, please answer to my WTB in that thread.

Having said that ... OF COURSE ... I am going to update the ABEESOIL. As soon as possible.
Only thanks to ExEric3 I had become aware of the issue, as he contacted me personally - thanks.
Congrats to the new code version!

I actually much appreciate the 2nd explorer of martymcfly2015, it is good to have 2 explorers for 1 chain.

For my updating, is this info all that I need to know about the new version?

Most of all - Hooray Abvhiael, you have come back.  Sooo happy. I really missed your high quality walls of text *g* Happy to read that your motivation is not a drop less than before ;-)

Soon more

What nodes i can use in solo mining?
gsoil should sync automatically - sometimes it takes a while... Maybe the community can post some nodes?
What happyns with Soilcurrency Block Explorer- there are 2,000,267 block. But on pool i see 2046709 block
Simply because AltSheets did not update gsoil and stuck on an alternate chain now. I don't know if he will update it. This is why I made the post about the block explorer above. If someone in the community has a public server, it would be great if you could host the explorer, or donate some Satoshi's, so I would be able to rent one and setup the explorer for us.

Will the soil again return to bittrex?
And what will happen with our soils on bittrex?
Can you give me a more informed answer the question?

ive left the request for re-integration of SOILcoin onto Bittrex open with julian. they dont comment whether theyre going to list anything, but as ive been told, its rare that they DENY anything either. they do want t see active community involvement, and especially from active bittrex traders. your best bet is t go to slack.bittrex.com and talk up why SOIL is important to be relisted on the exchange, and in the meantime, dont forget to vote for SOILcoin at livecoin (https://www.livecoin.net/voting/index?vote=SOILcoin) and at c-cex (https://c-cex.com/?id=vote&coin=soil)

bear in mind, POSW, one of the higher trending currencies presently, the token for poswallet.com, the folks there have been waiting as long as we have to get set up on bittrex. these things sometimes takes time, but i am consistently working at getting SOIL listed on an appropriate exchange. novaexchange WOULD list us, but presently theyre only dealing with BTC and LTC derived currencies (you can write them too and ask them to start listing dagger-hashimoto currencies like SOIL!)

The Soil network is growing guys Smiley

Really? I see just less peers on network. Yesterday stopped my payment module on pool due low number of peers. Explorer also not works.

can you elaborate on teh problems you are experiencing with the block explorer?

Explorer isnt updated to latest gsoil node. So all blocks after 2,000,267 isnt synced. Just mined block on miners-zone: http://178.62.133.174:9001/#/block/2028895

http://178.62.133.174:9001/#/chain/

Not as good as AltSheets explorer, but better than nothing.

If you like my work, please tip me please  Smiley.

SOILcoin is also now on the voting list for market inclusion at livecoin!

Please go  to the following link to vote@
https://www.livecoin.net/voting/index?vote=SOILcoin

we will continue to work towards getting our listing funded at cryptopia, as i feel they have the most serices, and having a lengthy history, should be considered trustworthy. but would be nice to get SOIL on a couple of exchanges.

VOTE OFTEN!!!

guys, we have fork problem?

i have 3 wallet (on 3 different server) blocked at #2021243

gsoil_MMF_v1.4.4

UPDATE
I deleted chain folder and restarted sync.....again end sync at 2021243....
Same here. I guess the pool is mining on the wrong chain? Huh

For the moment I stopped soil.pool.sexy
I was not aware you've setup a pool as well and talking about soil.miners-zone.net, sorry. But yes, guess it's a good idea to stop and wait if this resolves somehome.

Okay, soil.miners-zone.net is now down as well, maybe syncing again. Smiley

and a quick update on our funding process to get listed at Cryptopia....

our DOT balance is presently 219,826.02631515 DOT, as well as a buy order for another 130,000 DOT. so a little above 10% of the way there.

id also spoken with a community member who quoted YoBit's 0.1 premium listing fee, and was wondering what you fine folks thought setting up a listing on YoBit?

my experience with that exchange wasnt very good the last time we pushed for a premium listing. i chased support staff around for several weeks trying to gt our listing set up, and finally they refunded the listing fee,i believe it was nearly a month later. things MAY have improved there, and we could desperately use an exchange, but the question is, do we simply settle?

there are as many fans of YoBit as there are detractors, and i know, as a trader, ive been frustrated with projects that have wallets in maintenance for far too long while other exchanges have active wallets of that same currency. volume there is decent, but id like to guage the community regarding that exchange.

ive been spending more and more time on cryptopia lately, the community there is really nice, and have been very supportive.

ive gotten photos taken of all the premium hockey cards and spoon rings (some of them are gold plated) that ill be listing up on cryptopia's marketplace for DOT, hopefully we can raise a bit with that as well. im really hoping that once we are on cryptopia, we can start selling things in the marketplace that are somewhat branded towards SOIL, as my wife said ... heirloom seeds as an example. something to get our brand out and start gaining recognition as an independent blockchain....

for referrence sake, our donation addresses for our cryptopia campaign are:
BTC: 1QFH54K6zAHifyWVVTVXHTGP28wDPvevtX
DOT: 1MzVbB5Ya5dVQSF4H4mssquLrX2wGbvxsV

and... HAPPY EASTER! to each and all of you who celebrate it!

I would stay away from Yobit. Cryptopia seems much better - although its still a long way to go if we now have only 10% of the balance needed to get listed... However, when changing in DOT the money is at least not gone, compared to the "voting" on c-cex.
